Ooh, exciting! Thanks for the update <3
Theres also the fact that during the festival, our character can never openly express negative criticism of Arcadia. Why can’t i side with the guy at the tavern that speak ill of the church of Icha, why can’t i openly question the history being taught in the hall of memories, why can’t i angrily call out or yell at Talia and call her a tyrant for executing prisoners without a trial. And why can’t i make it clear to the arcadians that my loyaulty is with Param and that i will never forgive them for unleashing my psychotic sister on the kingdom. I just ask for my character to have his backbone back. Its so frustrating if you play a Param loyalist because the game railroad you into complaisance. It make for an awful prologue and first chapter.
It would be complete insane to says thoses at that time. Your a new arrive showing up a the first time of a major festive. People have been attack doing that it our world how do you think it would go down there. You need far more credibility, time and trust to be able to say those things. Right now the smart thing is to be quiet and buy time no matter whos side you are on. I’m anti-both sides just buying my time to abandon both of them (and kill leon). Being loud is the worst thing you can do right.
Yes, but we don’t even get to think those things, what we do externally doesn’t matter so much about the choices that we’re allowed to think internally
I don’t know may we just trying to take all in and be unbiased as possible like the Param got. Arcadia will always be at a narrative disadvantage of be second. so is see the rewrite as needed Arcadia was too evil in the original to making it more balance is need and I see the two version as different universe and don’t hold what happen in the original on anyone in the rewrite and we let this version decide I i treat Arcadia . so I like the rewrite I don’t trust Arcadia, but I don’t trust anyone after getting bbq’ed. So I look out for me. Getting ways as soon as possible and killing leon. If Talia keeps her word good, if not just another person are the revenge list.
Balenced? The prologue is shoving down the player’s throat how great arcadia is with not one single shade of gray. Before, our character could openly insult them and be mad at their situation. Being a Param loyalist was reflected in the naration, making that route so much interesting. Now, the arcadians feel way too perfect. The whole festival section was painful with the arcadian shilling with no choice to disagree with them. I would genuinely side with the guy at the tavern because i too couldn’t stand the church of Isha and thier leader. And i actually preferred Talia when she was a two faced manipulative genocidal snake. I was so looking foward to get my revange for the torture during the escape attempt. In the new version, she’s just frustrating with how the game force me to kiss her feet. Let me face the consequence, my character stop caring about his own safety. Let me be direct and insulting toward her. The author made a masterpiece of a potential antagonist and he ruin her in that new version. Instead we have some cliche evil empire seen in countless time in the fantasy genre. Also he remove this amasing scene for Leon supporters where the mage can defend Leon when confronting Eli. I was so disapointed when that dialogue was cut off because it was the first time my mage and Eli were arguing.
You know, I’m beginning to understand why the author made the demo patreon exclusive for a while.
Yep, I think most people would rather not have a repeat of earlier events haha.
yes it balanced. Just because you are a Param loyalist does not mean Arcadia does not get a fair shot. None of the awful things Param did were it chapter 1. It seems to me you liked the original because it made Arcadia lok basd and made Param looked better. And Leon did not deserve to be defend we we meet up Eli. He burned us alive one of the most cruel death possible because he listened to Ante. He did not punished her when the truth came out at all. So why should he be defended by MC. You did not give this rewrite a fair shake you only wanted to go back to param. That all i have to say on this. You made up your mind and noting got to change just like nothing will make me forgive leon. Good day to you.
The concept of choice and opinion seem to elude you. I play my character my way, you play your character your way. But thank for exactly proving my point. My character willingly sacrifice himself knowing there was no way to prove his innocence after killing the saintess. The previous version had better role play because the narration actually gave a damn about the character personality, loyalties and past actions. And I gave this rewrite a fair shake. Played it multiple times. And the new one failed to make me feel emotionally involve with the plot the way the previous one did. I’m still willing to see if the next update will change my mind but so far it was inferior for me in every aspect. Even the reunion with Eli was disappointing and it used to be my favorite scene in the previous one.
Learn that the hard way in my first time.
Bruh the reunion in the remake is the same as the previous one, so what are you talking about
okay after reading the rewrite again and comparing it to what i recall from the older demo im now certain that i like certain aspects of the older demo more than this rewrite.
i liked how Arcadia seemed to be an advanced magical place with the floating city and all that power and influence they have. the new rewrite makes it seem mellow and weak compared to previous demo
also in the older demo Yusuha and Flyss were aware of your identity right away from start and it was obvious, i understand that they eventually figure it out in this rewrite but i dont like the lack of reaction to it from their side compared to previous demo
also im struggling to figure out if anyone else knows of your true identity or not, its not clear at all since they behave as they know when they shouldnt know…idk man
does the archangel no longer exist? i find it hard to believe that he would miss info regarding an imminent attack on arcadia unless it was intentional to gauge the reaction of the MC and whether you would help out or not
also is it me or did the relationship dynamic between Flyss and Yusuha change as well? it always felt like in the older demo that Yusuha was on good terms bantering with flyss while flyss being a good ol Tsundere. now its not there anymore
i liked the air of mystery and authority Tahlia had in the older demo but now she sounds far too “nice”, one of my favorite interactions with her was when she started testing you with the “sudden attack”
Bruh it is still there, just like in the previous demo and now the remake, Yusuha and Flyss still throw banter at each other but they just don’t see eye to eye when dealing with opponents, Yusuha will look for merciful options to spare they lives while Flyss will wanna kill/torture them or torture then kill them
If anything she seems to have still have the same kind of authority but now she also knows a bit about tact and manners. In the old one she was a cackling villain who enjoyed gloating to mc’s face about how great Thaubal was and essentially forces them into slavery working for the Archangel. In the new one the introduction is much gentler, we finally get to see more of and really interact with the better parts of Arcadia, you know the ones that might actually be worth fighting for even if my mc would still disagree with a lot of Thalia’s methods. Plus the new Yu is actually competition with Eli for me now where before he was just the slightly less evil teammate and way more creepy to boot with that unwanted touchy feely elevator scene. So I like the new Yu better 100% Just as I like actually getting to see the better parts of Arcadia and some of the better things it is fighting to preserve or resurrect.
If anything both Arcadia and Param are much more equivalent now with both being deeply flawed societies led by ruthless leaders. That being said, if really pushed my mc might lean slightly more towards Arcadia now, because in Param basically the whole nobility is rotten, not just Leon, whereas in Arcadia it is just some of Thalia’s more ruthless methods that need to be severely restrained and thus new Arcadia might be more easily reformed than Param simply because its institutions right now are less rotten and entrenched. Old Arcadia though………don’t get started on that one as that was a completely rotten magocracy with a paranoid leadership that by gradually sharing less and less of the secrets of their high magic crucial to their own survival with their own friggin’ kids doomed itself. Aka the old Arcanists were idiots and deserved what happened to them, although the vast majority of the normal Arcadian population did not deserve to suffer with them.
This was my fundamental problem with the original demo, not even that we didn’t get much context on Arcadia, but that she came off as too much of the stereotypical work for me or die villain. I really, really love the subtlety hear
The context helps though, seeing the ordinary Arcadians, heck living among them, which forces the mc to see them as people too and plus mc now gets to experience the better parts of Arcadian culture. And if that is all still purely done as ruthless manipulation by Thalia at least she goes about it much more smartly this time around as in the original the mc was basically a prisoner and a slave kept imprisoned in their palace and so never got to see anybody but Arcadia’s higher ups, the wannabe Arcanists, who for the most part were as despicable as the worse Parami nobles and Leon himself, made worse by their constant gloating about how great and awesome the two worst people in mc’s life were to them, Thaubal and sister. Even if they still think that too in the new version they are at least much smarter to keep those opinions to themselves around the mc and Thalia now even offers an apology, words only but still, for enabling Mireil to the mc. She may still be the same old tyrant, or she may genuinely be a bit softer in the new incarnation, but either way she is much, much smarter about it now.
Oh, it helps, but it wasn’t one of my problems with it fundamentally
In the previous one, you could enter into a very emotional argument over his loyalty to Arcadia if the player was loyal to Param and didn’t support Arcadia. It is completely removed in the new version. It was an interesting segment for Eli’s character and i was annoyed that the author removed it. The new version also end the discussion more abruptly.
The problem is that your character is force to play nice with them. You can no longer play a param loyalist without sympatising with them. Theres no more angry or hostile option. You can no longer tell Talia to go screw herself. And the first chapter was just exposition about how great and amazing arcadia is. Why can’t a mc that is loyal to Leon and Param be openly sceptical about them. Why can’t i side with the guy at the tavern when he show his disdain for the church of Isha? why can’t i agree with the scptic in the hall of memories about the history presented there? Why can’t i actually be mad at Talia with her invovment with Mirel? Why can’t I confront Talia about executing prisoners without trials? Its like the new version was written with only Arcadian loyalists in mind while the previous allow your character to form their own opinion. I also liked how the narration reflect the loyalties of the main character. It felt more immersive.
