Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven -- set for release 10/28/16

@JimD yes! I would love to see them come back, getting to know their back stories and such. Though I wouldn’t see Driver as a companion but maybe some others do. Though keeping the mortality rule, players should be given the choice to let them live or die in the high school scene, albeit very hard to kill them. And I kinda liked Devlin as he is, the fact he’s not very romantic after sex makes me chuckle.

@5ubzer0 @poison_mara I’m with you on that, Tom has the appearance of a pathetic alcoholic and Devlin reminded me of a gangster skateboarder who deals drugs behind a supermarket, their appearances should show them to be more attractive if they are to be romance options. Oh and Uncle Lou, we can’t get enough of Uncle Lou.

Yeah, I am a straight woman too and I agree with you that our romance options are often poorly done. That being said, I honestly don’t care how the romance options look, but is has to be balanced. If all the women are overly beautiful, then the men should be as well. Then again, I would consider that bad writing unless your game is about the contestants of a beauty pageant.

I am curious now. Who’s your favorite Bioware romance, Mara?

@JimD Oh, it’s exiting to hear that you are re-writing parts of ZEX. I look forward to reading it! All criticism aside, I hope you know I am a fan of your writing, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. My main feedback is that your male characters in ZEX seemed better developed because you focused on their personality and their skills. There was too much emphasis on presenting the females as sexually attractive and available, which made them seem rather flat in comparison. Starr, however, was an interesting character and well written. Character wise I think you’ve been doing a great job in the demo. All the neighbors have unique personalities from the paranoid, alcoholic investment banker to the easy going, somewhat clumsy mechanic. I hope I can team up with some of them later. Well, and I have mentioned before how much I enjoy Jillian.

@Nathan_Faxon I can’t believe you described Devlin as a “gangster skateboarder who deals drugs behind a supermarket.” The description fits him perfectly!

A difficult question lol.I can’t choose one. The one that most surprised me was Garrus, An ugly alien almost like a locust but is so well written that you forget that and see the beauty inside, I could felt in love for him .
But you could call me superficial but I normally want romance pretty stuff in games exactly as males want :smiley: So Cullen and Alistair.
But my favorites are female romances. Tali, Bastila and Isabella. But there is one I really hate Liara.

@5ubzer0
To be fair, I’ve never been a fan of the male options in ZE so I didn’t pay much attention to how they were described. Crone was the only attractive one to me, personality wise, and he wanted our sister D:

Devlin was better past the boat ride, but my initial impression of him was negatively impacted by his actions beforehand. You also mention Candace, but in a male fantasy she would have been tripping over herself to get with us but she is pretty happy to just be friends with us. I’m also not a huge fan of Starr, but I didn’t like River until Starr died. If it were the opposite I think I would enjoy Starr.

@poison_mara
Ugly alien locust? Garrus was amazing. Him and Wrex are easily my favorite Bioware companions.

There’s no Shepard without Vakarian.

Wrex I would romance him in a heartbeat if was available. And y love Garrus It’s the best friend you could find in a virtual universe. But being sincere from a physical point he is ugly as hell

All the characters in ZE are very well developed and arw far beyond average standards in a choicescripts, flaws are inevitable no matter what you do, but @JimD being dedicated to smooth those out is admirable.

I enjoyed Starr and River, even though they were annoying in the meeting, their calm and positive personalities makes you feel there’s still hope in the world, and when River loses her it’s almost heartbreaking seeing him change. The one to dislike is Kelly. She’s as useless as Candace was before turning rambo and she ticked a lot of survivors off including me. Almost like she believes can just sit around and being a social support is enough to devour food supplies. Oh and she ran away from the final battle, cowardice ticks me off.

@5ubzer0 just picture it at the Cathedral. “Yo Heather you need to chillax, maybe some of this sick dope can help you out. Come find me later and I’ll hook you up” and he rides off on his skateboard blasting zeds along the way

Just played through the demo.

Is it bad that at the school with the bandits where you have to save Jaime, when I was mercilessly killing or leaving bandits for dead with the zombies, the 28 days later theme was playing in my head?

I actually was more or less merciful except at the end where i went full on Walking Dead on the bastard, I felt like Rick there for like a minute so you aren’t alone with the whole feeling.

My first go through with the bandits is kill driver because he’s a nuisance.
Leave rosie so she dies but I didn’t kill her (I love technicalities)
Then kill-steal Dil so that jamie would get moving.
My teenager is an ultra-pragmatist.
(I even left Jonah because he was drunk and a liability)

I left Driver and Rosie to the zombies, and let Jaime kill Dillian.

@JimD

Can the MC please please please get Dillian’s P90 and loot his corpse to get some ammo for it?

While we’re on the subject of the bandits, I’m starting to believe Driver isn’t his real name. He hasn’t said a word since we got to know him. A nickname Dillan gives him because he drives the jeep? Maybe he’s the scary kind of convict that is a murderous mute

@feawkless sounds like your teenager went on an angst rampage.

@NJG yes on the P90, a thousand times yes

A murderous mute?
I bet he’s also fat and a lunatic.
I bet he’s also a monster.
He might even be an orphan.

(This is a reference btw)

@Nathan_Faxon
Yea my teenagers an angst machine that lives in the suburbs.

Now I kinda want @JimD to include an option to act like this for the teenager it could even be an achievement.
“Teenage Angst”

@JimD how about ‘teenage angst’ as a challenge? :smile:

The challenge would make it so whenever you get even a SLIGHT INCONVENIENCE your character is forced to whine about it.

Also, no thanks on the P90. I’m fine with my cavalry sword. BUM RUSH EVERYTHING!

@JimD Can I ask what the current purpose of crafting is? I always choose a custom character and level it up to 5 just so I can board up the house nicely but it doesn’t seem to change much?

There will be more added. Eventually you’ll be able to craft ammo, medicine, weapons and people have been talking about wanting armour, weapon mods and crafting guns

Great! Oh btw is there a use for setting up the camera system at the moment? I mean the power goes out the next day so it seems a waste atm?

Well if you have an isolated power source let’s say a generator or a large battery you would be able to power it, it’s then a matter of maintaining. I’m sure Jim will add that eventually.
