Is there a reason why the MC canāt be an astronaut?
Maybe weāre returning from a trip to Earthās Moon when the zombie apocalypse arrived?

Itās a shame that the military havenāt thought of that yet.
Astronaut suit is made of very sturdy material, but I think theyāre very suspectable to slashes and cuts, but Iāll admit Iāve never punched a guy in an astro suit beforeā¦ On the subject of armour, we can craft bullets and antibiotics, yet no makeshift armour?

as noticed something a while ago 7.62mm bullets are in this gameā¦but no crafting option for an ak, Iām guessing akās will be in this game like the first one? @JimD
I do hope we can craft our own weapons, like a military profession will obviously have the know how to dismantle/reassemble guns, but a crafty person such as an engineer could add mods. letās say a rifle, some duct tape and a knife or screwdriver and you got yourself a simple bayonet. Nails, a hammer and a baseball bat and we all know what that makes.
Duct tape, torch and a gun and you have a light source with a weapon ready.
look through the crafting inventory are some scopes there already and are a few different ones, so one could be a nightvision/thermal one maybe? know you can get thermal goggles.
We havenāt sent anyone to the moon in decadesā¦ We just hand around in low earth orbit right now.

Wouldnāt thermals be only good at detecting other survivors? Being as a zombies body would go cold

Not colder than surroundings, but just generally harder to detect, since they will produce no heat. I should of explained more
First, an astronaut feels so out of place here and not believable. If administration know the zombie stuff they donāt send astronauts to the international station . Half of world is affected but international agencies still sending them??? No way they are protocols to avoid that. A poor rusian cosmonaut had to be alone a year in the mir when soviet union felt. Poor guy almost died and lost a lot of bones density.
The suit is good against radiation but not really resistant to impacts. There were cases were they break inside ship when they put them. In space there is no chance of bullet fire lol. and the space trash is monitored to avoid problems .
it depends how technical jim gets/how he writes the zombiesā¦thereās a lot of plot holes with zombies. do they have a functioning stomach to process human flesh? If yes thatād produce heat right? Plus their brain is somewhat functional so should still produce some heat. plus if they run or something that will produce heat. plus even if it was just useful against humansā¦so is a bullet proof vest. 
Yeah I doubt a bullet vest would be great defense against our undead rivals, but maybe thereās armours with certain resistances? Bulletproof vests for ballistics and possibly craft a bite guard on the forearms for bites and stabs but mainly for zombies, since a human with a blade could easily swing at another body part. So different armours for different situations
Tbh that depends on the variables. Honestly Iām over thinking this way too much with way too specific situations that would probably occur only once if at all.
My mind is on the Fritz right now. Damn exams, projects, and work in general.
Is there a scientist job? (i canāt remember) and if so maybe if we have high intelligence and crafting we could make some badass power armor (not really maybe it just letās you carry more stuff or increases your strength)
