Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven: Part Three Discussion Thread

@JimD

When trying to get training from Rachel in Part 3, the game uses her skillset before *rachel_revealed

Here’s a screenshot her skills when you ask her in Part 3. I hadn’t been trained by her before.

Her skills should be:

*selectable_if (rachel_faction >= 50) #Rachel—Athletics (4), Close-Combat Weapons (5), Driving (4), Electronics (3), Empathy (6), Hand-to-Hand Combat (4), Intimidation (4), Leadership (4), Medicine (3), Persuasion (6), Ranged Weapons (5), Scavenging (4), Search (4), Stealth (5), Survival (4).

When Rachel (RO) comes to chat with the player in Part 3, she refers to the camp as Eli’s Junkyard and Towing. It’s Eli’s Junkyard and Salvage. Maybe we could correct her and she reacts to that, saying something like, “Ugh. Yes. It’s been a long day.” Then we continue with the rest of our conversation.

Here, it was supposed to be noon but on the Stats page, it was still early morning.

Here, I was driving and Madison was next to me and Reilly was in the back. Somehow Madison switched places with me.

At the museum, I sided with RMBC and we killed most of the museum group off. Cruz escaped and Mel was spared. To me, the text seemed like they could’ve been a threat (hence maybe avoiding them) when, really, they’re finished.

You ride the aerial tram back to the junkyard, taking a circuit you didn't know existed. If you ever choose to go back to the museum, this will be an easy ride. Based on your relationship with the museum survivors, you might want to @{(museum_faction >= 50) trade or work toward an alliance.|avoid them for now.}

Nice little touch here. The opening song is different depending on who is the DJ.

@{prom_dj Jaime|Rosie and Driver|Rosie|Driver} set up the DJ station and started off the night with @{prom_dj Flo Rida's Good Feeling.|LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It.|"Weird Al" Yankovic's White & Nerdy.|System Of A Down's B.Y.O.B.} After that, the music calmed to a playlist based on the hits of the last decade.

I see these subtle touches throughout the game and I really enjoy them. Your personality stats shape your character and their interactions and add weight to your choices. Even the ones that don’t necessarily decide if someone lives or dies.

She finishes her cup in one swallow and tosses it onto the back of the car. @{(ideal >= 50) You pull her along|You take her hand, and she leads you} to the end of the dance floor.

I’m happy with the scripted deaths. That said, I also really liked Church. Back on hilltop, he was one of the only ones that asked how we were doing. He was good guy. He wasn’t the most important character but when there were flashes of his personality like below, I couldn’t help smiling. I have very clear picture of his little dance in my head.

The reverend boogies over to the dance floor, shaking his hips and wagging his finger in the air. When he reaches it, he takes your hand and spins you around. It’s tough to keep up with his pace, but somehow you manage. Soon enough, you’re breathing hard with sweat dripping into your eyes. Many of those on the floor crowd around the two of you as Church leads everyone in a dance of his own making.

This is chapter 9, during prom, and asking Kelly to dance:

“I like you too,” you say flatly, still a bit unsure of her meaning. If she flirting with you?

*Is

Chapter 9 when asking Nora to dance:

As the music fades, the DJ plays a slower song, and you see Reilly approaching from behind.

“Can I cut in? I’d like to dance with my ma,” he says and takes her hand. Nora nods at you, and you leave mother and son in the middle of the dance floor.

The scene was sweet. I noticed that your relationship with Reilly increases when you dance with his ma. Just a suggestion, I think you could indicate to the player that he appreciated the gesture while remaining true to his character. Perhaps something like:

As the music fades, the DJ plays a slower song, and you see Reilly approaching from behind.

“Okay, ${firstname}, gimme my ma back,” he says, brushing you aside, and takes her hand. Nora nods at you, and you leave mother and son in the middle of the dance floor. For a moment, you catch Reilly looking back at you with a smile.

Chapter 9, after Rachel pulled you aside for a smooch:

"He smiles at you. “If you haven’t noticed, there’s a dance going on.” He waves you on, and then heads back onto the dance floor.

Remove the extra quotation mark.

Chapter 9, shortly after Jaime checked in:

You stand by the SUV for a while, still thinking about Rachel. Did that really happen? Where do I want to go with this? Moments turned to minutes, and you finally make your way back inside the yard.

For consistency, the “I” should be “you”

@JimD I’ve found a slight text issue. After Church dies they will still be shown in the daily camp report, as it still reported them as fishing, though it did not actually provide food.

@JimD Found a bug where I only brought Tommy along to the museum but in the scene where Brody talks to one of the museum crew (forgot her name) Bailey was there.

Chapter 12. I was actually Billie’s neighbour in this playthrough.

There isn’t a check for the player’s starting location in the prologue:

Jaime turns to Sean. "I know you were ${firstname}'s neighbor, but we let you in. It was an act of faith and trust. We should let them in but consider it a trying-out period."

After returning from the depot, I would have liked to ask Lopez about the military factions. Granted, he might not know much but I think asking him about Goodman and the Vanguards and what he thinks about them would’ve been cool.

I’ve gone through every post here and made notes of any errors or suggestions. I didn’t specifically address everything if it is an obvious error, but here are some specific answers, comments.

Thanks, I will fix that.

A lot of these checks are based on relationship scores. I may have set them too low. I will fix this in the next patch.

This isn’t broken. If you are involved in a three-way then that is the story there. If you are solo with Jillian, a possible pregnancy is the story.

Sorry if that’s not exactly what you want, but I think it works for the story.

I think this will happen more.

I’m surprised by this statement. There are only intimate scenes in one chapter of Part 3, but there are interactions in every chapter, sometimes multiple scenes. Granted, it’s not a romance game, but I think there are consistent romantic elements.

As for interactions between characters, there will be scenarios where you are cheating and some where you are in a polyamorous relationship. Questions will be asked of your character, as you can define them, but ultimately your actions will dictate how it goes. I planned to deal more with this in Part 4.

I don’t understand this question, so feel free to explain if I don’t provide an answer that works for you, but characters will fall in love with you, sometimes even if you reject them.

Again, I’m not sure I understand your question, but other characters will be in relationships if not with the MC.

Basically that would be an entirely different game. Think about the path you would be led through. I would have to have one entire path for those that continue to look at the junkyard and the same amount of content for someone who lives with the Silverthornes. That’s just not possible. It could theoretically be an ending, because then I would not have to write alternate paths for very long.

Thank you!

It should not be allowed, because I tried to make it that Lopez and Tommy cannot be in a relationship if the MC is in a relationship with either. However, I don’t check that code after a point where you could change to be in a relationship with either Lopez or Tommy. So I will have to fix that.

It’s a strange thing for us here in the US. In a few weeks, rehearse the Oscars and there are still categories for best actor and best actress. There’s an effort to change it though. I’m older than most of my readers and I still say mailman even though my mail carrier is a woman, and I have to check myself all the time. I obviously don’t say it to her directly, but I’m so practiced in using one word, it’s difficult to train my mind to use another.

I will look into it. I haven’t given much thought to it, but I appreciate you pointing it out.

No, you either have a delusion or you do not.

I agree. I will look at it soon.

I thought that was in Part 2?

I can add that at some point.

Is this after the most recent update?

Can you explain this more? What is the bug?

I can see about adding that in the future.

Well, it will be easier for me to look into the other if you figured that out  Thanks again!

Thank you! I really appreciate all of your suggestions and advice during the various Beta tests.

Welcome back, and I hope all is well.

Survivor reference?

I’m getting this bug report a lot. That Bailey is a slippery one.

Is this in the most recent version?

Thanks for pointing out these errors!

This is great. Thank you for reporting errors. That morality hit is flipped the wrong way, so I will fix it.

I think part of what makes Lopez threesome unwanted for many is that it’s very possible to interact with him twice in the entire game, and easily still have the rapport with him needed for it. Like only meet him on the lawn, and at the end when he asks if you’re with Jamie. That and no convo about it beforehand, which imo makes it kinda creepy.

I did not expect anyone to catch that

Do people not chat with him at the hilltop? That’s like the easiest way to get an Explosive Charge, which you can trade to Jude later on. That and some Cyanide is nearly at his trade limit.

I don’t know how other people play the game, but I only talk to him twice. Mostly because I don’t like him, but he still usually likes me enough to want a threesome lmao.

I tend to just kill Jude, he shot at me, so imma shoot back at him.

I have seen every season. She was a great player.

@JimD I am a (female) actor. Actor is the correct term. (They really only ever use the term “actress” in awards shows)

Is there not a scene with Rosie when your going to sleep in chapter 8?

Yes, it is. I still don’t see the vegetable garden/greenhouse/farm output in my screen. My primary character doesn’t have the Gardening hobby, but even the one that does didn’t get to see the output of the garden/greenhouse/farm. New playthrough edit: While I can plant vegetables in the greenhouse, I cannot do anything about the vegetable garden or see its output in Rachel’s summary.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if it could be possible for high Medical/medical professional MCs to give the museum prisoners (Paul, Darlene, Jude) first aid during the initial rescue.

I also wonder if Reilly and Madison, if they are being romanced by the MC, could make a reference to it if they rescue MC/MC rescues them from Murphy.

any Idea how to make rachel the leader?

Will Ray be a future RO in later releases considering that their gender and sexuality always matches the MC’s preferences?

If so, then it’ll be funny imagining the other survivors watching my MC trying to kiss no one

It’s both amusing and weird. Trying to make out and do the deed with air.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned. However, During the research center where we get abducted and wakeup separated. After getting out and sending the lonely man out and never to return. After he thanks us for allowing to leave with supplies. The next scene takes us back to the options to kill him or to knock him out. I am not sure it is spoiler territory, but just in case.

I think I said it in a way that easily misunderstood so I will clarify it. Like you said it not a romance game. I am the type of person who play the game for the romance part of the game. So by lacking in romance I basically saying that it not the main point of the game. I am not saying the game is lacking in romance scenes but more to saying it not much compared to romance focused game. I greatly enjoyed the romance part of the game even if it not the main focus.

As for the other part, it’s fine if you don’t understand my ramblings.
