Zombie Exodus and Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven Hints and Tips

I just did my teen hacker run and got some tips.

Choose surbus, you will get 2 free solar panels for survnet and don’t have to waste the generator.

Doing a speed run at day 2 is the hardest, I manage to do it by skipping every possible conversation choices to save time, don’t raid the second house (doesn’t worth it) secure but don’t repair you home.

Ask woody to fortify it later.

If you do it right you will wake up without losing skill points. A 5 leveled electronics with 55 int is enough to hack the atm.

High crafting is also good you will save time from making survnet like a mad man.

Is the money worth to keep after this point though?

Can anyone help me with research for zeta cure? Do I have to craft specific items?

You can’t research it yet, you can collect samples but that’s it, you don’t have a laboratory. There’s no use for the money yet except for Thelma’s store, but it might be useful later. I spend all of my money anyways, since you can get Thelma to give you like a 30%-40% discount with the right choices.

Oh thanks, I saw the option to research is grey out at day 3.

Yeah, it’s just a repeat of the option that let’s you collect samples, but it’s visible even if you picked it the previous days.

When you’re at camp choose the scout the area option. At the van scavenge and look for the power source. If you have high crafting you’ll have the option to assemble a server on the spot, if not make sure you have one built before you go scouting.

Guys, what’s the advantage of starting in the big city?

Well for one we get a pistol, a beretta I believe? But I find the suburbs to be better. You get the solar panels so have power whilst you’re at your house and Rachel gives you a pistol later on anyhoo. Think if you’re in the country you have a well which gives you extra water? Oh and Fred lives in the city, Sean in the suburbs and Billy in the countryside right? Though not sure which one of those gives the most advantages.

I think the city gives gunpowder when you scav homes, but I think the people (like Billie) will return in part 3?

So imma do some runs on the rural areas, just in case.

Plus she has pet’s.

To piggyback on what @CreepyPastaKittyFay said you also get the opportunity to meet Gina (relationship bonus for potential romance) and save George.

I think Fred gives the most advantages. You can get him to send over food, tools, soda, and best of all, a duffel bag, whereas Sean gives nothing and Billie just sends food. That duffel bag lets you get 3 more items every time you scavenge, and Fred’s is the first you can get without being a police officer. This means giving up the suburbs’ solar panels and free electricity and the country’s free water though.

The free water is useless, it just save some times to fill up the bath tub. Thanks!

now i cant decide between Fred or solar panels

I usually go for Fred, personally. I can use that duffel bag to carry solar panels I find later!

now im wondering, did we meet with Fred again at the end of part 1? or he just gone missing like Sean and Billie ?

He’s gone too, though I think he leaves you a note if you go to his house.

I still haven’t figured out how to do Lopez’s female romance T.T

A few questions
1: How do you get 20 people in your 2nd part? Most I got was 17
2: what is the maximum amount of things you can take when scavenging?
3: what do I need to get the maximum relationship with my group? I end up with half hating me the others just associate’s.
4: Anyway to kill Keith or overpower him in the confrontation? No matter my hand-to-hand or range skill, I am unable.

  1. Meet sifer in boarded up house, invite gina, be good with tommy and invite him. Don’t lose people at battles. Save Dante (be at home at 10-ish)

  2. IDK, but a duffel bag gives +3 to what you can carry, which might be based on strength or something? Sorry not sure

  3. Socialise with people, be democratic, when you can train just meet with people. Also talk to them and agree (e.g. when Riley calls finn weak just agree) with what they say

  4. N, best option to use suppressive fire and take a hostage, with no casualties, or kill all 3 (not keith) with no casualties (need to have fighters in wood, good ranged skills, shoot Natalie, search Benton, kill beton, your group kills Wyatt for you)

Not sure about the other ones, but I can answer this:

The recruitable characters in Part 1 are: Lopez, Tommy, Dante, Jillian, Driver, and Rosie. (All other characters will join whether you want them or not.)

To recruit them:

Lopez: Appears in front of your house on Day 2, between 10 and 12. He pretty much just needs to know you exist, so as long as you go out to help him (or even steal from him, apparently), then he should turn up at the end of Part 1.

Tommy: I think you might need to go out to the crowd outside the Makarov’s house at the end of Day 1, just to let him know you exist, but the important scene is Day 2, between 12 and 2. Help him (and be nice to him), and he should turn up again at the end of Part 1, and may agree to join you, if asked. Note: Empathy is important here. (You can also try to manipulate his want for revenge, which requires less Empathy…)

Dante: Appears in front of your house on Day 2, between 2 and 4. Save him from the zombies. (High Ranged will let you snipe them, but you can also use other methods.) Then he should also turn up again at the end of Part 1.

(Note: all three of the above characters will appear at any point in their time windows as long as your character is at home, so don’t spend the entire time out at the three-story house…)

Jillian: Will turn up at your house at the end of Day 2 with Lyle. It’s best to be kind, but not weak here. Call them out on stuff (Jillian going through your stuff, Lyle faking his blindness), but don’t throw them out. Cook a meal for them. If they like you enough, then they’ll stick around (if not, they’ll abscond with your possessions…), or at least Jillian will. (Lyle will always either leave or die. To save him, since he may be back later, follow them on the morning after, and use Leadership/Intimidation/Persuasion on Dillan when he tries to kill them; fighting may work here, but I’m not sure.)

Driver: Outside the school on Day 3. If you’re a hacker or teen, you can avoid him entirely, but if not, talk your way past him. Don’t try to distract him, as this can lead to his getting zombied. After the school mission, he should turn up again, and can join.

Rosie: When she’s trapped in the auditorium, save her. Like Driver, she’ll turn up after the school mission.

It should be obvious, but don’t kill any of these characters (or Gina, who’ll join in Part 2) if you want them on your team. Also, I know that Jillian may try to kill Rosie and/or Driver after the school mission, but I have no idea how this is triggered, or how to stop it once it starts.

In Part 2, Reverend Church and Gina will turn up. I think all you have to do is not kill them or turn them away. There’s also Sifer, who always dies, but can give you good items when she goes. To meet her, visit the boarded-up house on Day 2 of Part 1.

Also, there are Challenge characters, such as the nephew and Ray, but I’m not sure if they’d count.

@Eiwynn: Would it make sense to add these to the top post?
