And you encountered the only way to die, so you should good on avoiding that on replay. I hope your death was a good one! Although…if Whippet died too, it probably wasn’t

Guess I will post a review here since they still have no written review system for the omnibus (even though we have no choice but to buy the game there) which is annoying.
Oh boy, I really enjoyed this a ton and even with it being shorter then most games here, really fell in love with all of the characters! I played it multiple times with different MCs but my first one, Knightline, was really fun. I played him as a guy who knew he did his part for the city in keeping it safe all those years and wanted to make sure Whippet would be ready to take his place eventually. Seriously I really liked the banter and relationship between them and it was hard to pick options that didnt involve her even on other playthroughs cause I liked her so much.
The rogues gallery was great too and it was always fun to see the dialogue after stopping them. My favorite is still Perpetual Man with the “less fruit puffs in the ass area” joke lol but the second is Speedbump’s with the “wait, why am I giving you ideas?!”. Also the dialogue choice about them inevitably breaking out of jail always had funny responses.
Silver Rocket was not bad but I liked the relationship history variations with the rekindled RO a bit more, whether they wanted to do the thing! or just have a real heart to heart talk about the relationship which was short but sweet.
All in all, I had alot of fun with this game and would love to see more of the characters, especially the MC and their trusty sideki-…Crimefighting Collaborator. The writing was nice and light but still engaging. Hope it does really well!
Also sidenote, even though I never needed it, the extra juice option was cool to include and would be nice if a similar option was always there in other games so people who dont care too much for stat management could still feel successful.

It is funny you say that about the juice boost being for people who don’t want to manage stats to be successful. The one time I used the boost… the game was even shorter then normal…

I definately could see that. I really only ever used juice when I felt I didnt have a stat that I was confident could pass a check which wasnt many times at all (like once or twice tops depending on the playthrough). I did mostly just use it to finish off Sloth though since there was no reason not to and plus it felt fitting to take him down myself after all those years. Still its nice to see difficulty modifiers anytime in games.

I reeeeally appreciate the thorough review!
One of the most frustrating things for me with this project is getting like zero reviews, because of the change in the platform landscape in the past few years.
I remember back with CCH1’s release, I’d watch the IOS RPG Charts, and take screenshots of its placement, and then go check all the Android reviews, and then go check all the Steam reviews, etc., and this time, well, it’s totally different. And it makes me a little sad.
So it’s nice to hear your specific comments, because I had hoped players would like the characters and the breezier style. If there is a sequel (open question), I’d definitely anticipate the relationship between Whippet and the MC taking a central role, doubling down on the whole “passing the baton” theme. I think there is a lot to develop there.
And now the more I think about her I’m strongly considering having Whippet make a guest appearance in CCH3…I mean, why the hell not? I’m excited thinking about where I could have her show up.

One thing I was also thinking about, but didnt really know if I wanted to bring it up cause I know zero about marketing, was if the game is only in the omnibus that means the only way people would know it exists is if they have the app already and have that notification on about new games or they are signed up to the CoG mailing list. So my worry is that no one (who is not in either of those groups) would be able to randomly catch it while browsing their particular storefront. Like if I wasnt on the mailing list or a forum go-er then I wouldnt have either since I prefer to avoid omnibus type apps when I can.
On another note, while I enjoy the breezier style, its not exactly the thing I enjoyed over say something like CCH. Its mostly the premise for me so if you were to (definatley not telling you what to do) make something lengthier I would like it just the same if its dealing with the same characters. Your writing was great here!
As for Whippet, i’m sure she would fit in really well with the other characters there and may even tempt me to give the CCH series another shot. I could see her heading to the school after she finally branched out on her own to learn the necessary hero stuff in your universe like HELL that she couldnt pick up on from the MC here. But personally, I like where she is now and if your able to do a sequel (fingers crossed) seeing her continue her journey to being a solo hero while still going on adventures with the MC on the way to that seems like it would be fun to go through.

I’m not even sure how one would go about reviewing the game. I always score a game at the end in game where it ask. but I don’t think that tracks anywhere. I use the app. I don’t think the games are listed separately on the App Store to rate them there. Although I guess I haven’t checked.
As for Whippet I don’t really see them doing to much. They got their back torn open and thrown off a roof while they were crying and begging for their life… so maybe their ghost?

When you get a chance to spend time with them, one of the times you can choose what you do for the night. One of them is have a heart to heart conversation about it. It’s pretty quick though.
