That sounds awfully dark if I’m honest
There is a personality stat. It just isn’t visible. It’s basically treated as an opposed pair with high values being a charming personality, low values being a ‘snarky’ (don’t know what else to call it) personality and values in the center being a relatively ‘normal’ personality (polite and professional). And yes, witches use poison. Is there anyone on Mara’s kill list yet?
Just imagine what my main project is like (Everything I write tends to end up pretty dark, to be honest.) Anyway, that’s why there is such an elaborate warning and a recommendation for minimal age in the main post.
Oh dw, I’m following Empty Shell so I get what you mean
No I liked Anyone even the kids! And our vampire friend looks hot as hell, so Mara will charming him her them zir … I would love a question about how will deal with normal people My Mara seems pacific and good but wants kill them all .
Oh, don’t worry. You’ll be able to be as charming to people as you want to be and then stab them in the back nonetheless I think there’s going to be a chance to “meet” the Hannicker twins (the ones from the chicken) in the third or fourth round of missions, so…
Him/her. Zyx might switch between genders, but he/she is always either male or female.
Who did you think of as a kid? In my mind everyone introduced this far is an adult.
The twins, In my mind sounded like the topical southern American children with big cheeks and red hair . You know the mischievous type that hunt and launched stones to windows or put explosives near raccoons.
typical? Anyway, if with ‘southern American’ you mean ‘from the south part of the USA’ you are partially right. I did base my image of the Hannicker twins on my image of stereotypical Texans (mainly based on books and pretty terrible movies, so don’t take it too seriously). They are grown men though, not children.
Exactly The texan or New Orleans type , you must like say they are adults, because all the chicken stuff looks like childish fool jokes no serious stuff really
In what world is having the remains of a gutted chicken speared across your doorway along with a (admittedly badly written) death threat pinned to the door with a rather impressive knife a childish joke?!? Not in mine, at least…
Well I have seen terror B movies were children do that type of stuff tons of times. Then the supposed witch demon of whatever enter in vengeance mode and kill the children.
Is it strange that my first reaction to that is “What are they doing? This is a waste of money!”
Well it is, isn’t it? And pretty pointless too since the MC isn’t in the least effected. It just goes to show what kind of useless people will do to try and chase away people they don’t even want to try to understand. That’s pretty much why my working title is what it is.
I forgot to ask this earlier, but do fairies have wings?
Technically yes, but ‘blenders’ don’t, for pretty obvious reasons. (It stands out quite a lot.) If they shape-shifted back into their true form they’d grow back though. (For people confused about the terminology, it’s explained in the bestiary (in the Stats Screen))
I like the demo! Can’t wait to see what else you’ve come up with And you’ve done a great job with inclusivity (Is that a word? I think it is, but it’s late here and I’m tired.)
Love the title, love the premise, and I’m really interested to see more about the discrimination against the supernatural in your world, from your comments I see that you’ve already pointed out real-world parallel, and I love fiction with a message
Have you ever played A Little Witch Story? A much more blatant metaphorical game but it reminds me a bit of your game and I really liked it! It’s an interactive fiction game like CoG and it was free I mean, COMPLETELY different than your game, but still, fiction with a message!
That’s the funny thing. It’s not actually discrimination about the supernatural. (Being called a ‘witch’ at the beginning of the story and it possibly being spot on is just a coincidence.) Just plain old xenophobia. The general public has no clue supernatural creatures are actually real. (Some suspect it, of course, but those are usually labeled as nut jobs and ignored,)
Um…that was…short. interesting but wayyyy too short.
Dude it even mentions that in the main post
“Small play-test, just a general introduction. Only one choice this far.”
Read the main post again It says that the playtest now cuts off after choosing a name.
@matt_smith
It’s still a work in progress, and a pretty new one at that, so it’s bound to be short. It takes a bit more than a week to write a full ± 150000 words interactive story
