Wizard's Choice Volumes 1-6 guides

Yeah @WubWub117 played it on my windows phone loved the game and got me hooked on multiple choice games true story bro

One small change to your posted solution for part 1 - The bit where you said “Run! No Time” should be grab what you can. This will net you another 100 gold or so and push your score into the top bracket.

I’ve tried 1st and 3rd so far and not only do they not get a perfect score, on the third one they kill you too…

I need some help finding all the bonus coins slot so I can unlock the rest of the volumes. I am like 5 or so coins away from unlocking volume 5 and then I have to manage to find 36 coins from getting highest ranking in 5 and the bonuses. I got highest ranking on 1-4 but I was wondering does getting lowest rank give you coins? Going with the humor of the game it seems like it would. Any help would be appreciated.

You’re probably best asking those sorts of questions at Delight Games.

I’m not sure if they’ve much of a community beyond their Facebook page though. https://www.facebook.com/DelightGames/

Volume 1

Hey there, found your guide really good. It allows for a high score at the ending. However, I found out that it`s not a perfect score (the highest possible score) so I decided to post a few comments and corrections on your guide.

General tips when attempting the highest score

Keep in mind that there are two different kinds of stats: survival stats and score stats. While the latter add to your final score, the former dont, so it makes no difference to end up with 10 manna or 0 manna. If you end the playthrough with a lot of remaining points on one stat or both, its usually because you missed a tradeoff between one survival stat and a score stat. Therefore, try to “expend” all of your manna and most of your health to get the highest morale and gold!
Also note that, in this volume, none of the score stats count as survival stats, as they arent expendable or needed in order to advance (you wont “die” if you reach 0 morale).

Especific tips for Volume 1

This is a typical adventurer’s story, centered around exploration and looting. Therefore, to get the best tradeoffs, you’ll have to focus on exploring and interacting with the environment and making clever use of it’s elements, including in combat, where usually scouting, identifying threats and setting up ambushes are the best choices. Also, as an adventurer in search of fortune, ALWAYS go for the gold!

Corrections

Enter the castle now. -> This is incorrect. Best option is “Prepare a wall defense”, and then “Set the coutryard on fire” (-2 manna +4 morale)

Run! -> Best option is “Open door”, and then “Let goblins in” (-2 manna +2 morale)

Send her on her way. -> Best option is “Escort her out”. Despite the high life cost, it gives you morale (-3 life +1 morale)

Attack with spells. -> Best option is “Attack without spells” (no cost), to avoid the manna loss.

Prepare a spell. -> “Illusion”, “Horde of Goblins” avoids the life loss, but it isn’t really necessary (you won’t run out of health)

No time! Run! -> This is incorrect. “Take what you can and run” gives you 100 gold for no costs.

Charm the ogre. -> Best one is "Attack with dagger (-4 life +5 morale). Big life cost but huge morale gain.

-Last Checkpoint-

Best sequence is:

Follow them.
Use Cibah as a bait.
Use dagger (-2 life +1 morale)
Lure more into ambush (+1 morale)
Turn invisible (-4 manna +1 morale)
Illusion. Shadow monster from castle (-2 manna +6 morale) Best tradeoff in the entire volume!
Charm her. (-3 manna -2 life +3 morale)

Final stats: 2 life 0 manna 450 gold 28 morale
Total score: 1290 points.

Volume 6

-General Hints-

In balancing the stats, I found out that the affirmation “Manna is incredibly abundant” is partially correct. Despite you having a lot of manna and receive huge mana boosts throughout the play, you also have a lot of options where you can spend great amounts of manna, and as well there are a lot of points in this volume where mandatory spells are required to be cast in order to advance the story (if you don’t have the manna, you are insta-killed). Therefore, if you “spend manna whenever possible”, you will most likely run out of manna.

Firebolt Thantos (-2 manna +1 morale)
(-2 manna)
Flame fan (-4 manna -1 life)
Turn invisible (-4 manna)
Call the attention of the demon (+1 morale)
Talk to demons
Try to get statue
Spider climb (-2 manna +6 life) This path is optional as you won’t need the extra life.
Hide in another room.
Creep out of the room. No manna loss.
Cast Polymorph (-7 manna) Invisibility option is incorrect as you will need the manna.
Come out. (+2 morale)
Burn yourself (-1 life +1 morale)
Talk to her (+1 morale)
Threaten her (+2 morale)
(+10 manna)
Take a nap (+3 manna +3 life)
Study your new spells
Fly into the Reward Room (-6 manna)
Kiss her (+4 morale)
Chase after him
Invisibility (-4 manna +1 morale)
(-2 life)
Try to ally with him
Try to catch him by surprise
Lightning bolt Manna-4 Morale+5
Life+2 Manna+16 Morale-2
Try to go through door (+1 morale)
Possess one of the girls (-2 manna)
Kick Joe (+1 morale)
Give Joe another kick (+1 morale)
(+1 morale)
Look for other demons
I have been sent to him
(+1 morale)
Tell Reginold it’s OK.
Say you were sent there.
Help Azizella.
Use Flame Fan (-4 manna +3 morale)
(-2 morale +12 manna +1 life)
(+9 manna -3 morale +7 life)
(-6 manna)
Heather (-2 manna +1 morale)
Crush her soul
Try to maneuver her (+14 manna -2 morale +1 life)
Continue in Brett’s body.
Impersonate Mr. Meyer (-3 manna +3 morale)
Pursue in spirit form (-2 manna)
Wait
(-1 manna)
Illusion (-3 manna +3 morale) nice morale gain for the cost.
Wait until after class.
Attempt to seduce
Jump from window (-1 manna -1 life)
Do not crush his soul You don’t need the manna and should avoid the morale loss.
Possess him now (-6 manna)
Say that Heather is not ready
Fight
Lightning bolt (-4 manna +2 morale)
Put her out of her misery (+2 morale) Free morale gain.
Final reckoning (-8 manna -5 life +5 morale)
(+40 manna +2 life)
Fight
Natural weapons (-10 life +3 morale)
Cast an illusion (-3 manna +2 morale)
I do have the manna (-35 manna)
Svellack’s treasure room (+2 morale)
Close the gate
Attack (+2 morale)
Try to possess Reginold (-4 manna)
Lie and say you’re Jesus. LOL.
Final Reckoning on her (-8 manna)

Final Stats on my playthrough: 12 life 2 manna 45 morale
If you choose to Spider Climb and take Nerul’s statue, you’ll end with 18 life 0 manna 45 morale
It is possible to get one more morale point by choosing to “Cast Illusion” instead of “Waiting after class”, but you’ll end up with 7 manna when you should have at least 8 to cast Final Reckoning. Therefore it is possible to make some minor combinations (like not casting firebolt on Thantos in the first choice) that will keep the same total score of 1350. If anyone knows a way to get the extra 1 manna without losing morale, please let me know :D.
Total score: 1350 points

-Volume 5 Guide-

Comments

This volume is based on a “spy” mission and also a travel mission: take the “correct” paths to the objective location and you’ll keep your survival stats high, specially health, which is extremely abundant (usually, a health loss option is the wrong option anyways. A huge health loss is the game’s way of punishing a bad choice by the player and informing that the player made a mistake. There are, of course, exceptions)
The way that stats behave here is somewhat different from the other volumes. While on the other episodes the player would usually expect several really good tradeoffs (like expending 3 manna and getting 3 morale points) in this adventure you’ll be getting minor morale gains throughout the story as long as you remain undetected and on the correct path (as mreed said). Also, most options are really costly in terms of manna and health, but you’ll be constantly recovering both stats throughout the play, so don’t worry (as you’ll see in the end, you’ll finish the playthrough with a lot of overflow survival stats);

Climb (-1 manna +1 morale) Good tradeoff.
Take cover.
Disguise both of you (-4 manna)
Continue your ruse (+2 morale)
Swim in the river. You can choose "Stay on the road (manna required). It will cost you 6 manna, give you a morale point and save you the 7 life loss on the river. But you won’t be able to choose “Drain goats” + “Pay for lodging” in the same playthrough as “Stay on the road”, because you’ll end up running out of manna.
Strip (+1 morale)
(-7 life)
Handle it alone. (-1 manna)
Bleed a few goats (+1 life)
Go dig a den (+5 manna -2 morale -3 life) You can choose to drain goats and pay for lodging as well.
Fly in.
Flight over the wall.
Just go for the wall. (+2 morale)
Illusion disguises.
Old couple. (-4 manna +2 morale)
Send her away.
(+7 manna +2 life +2 morale)
Leave with cloaks.
Jump the wall. (+1 morale)
(-5 life)
Lightning bolt. (-4 manna +1 morale)
Kill him. (-1 morale) You don’t need the extra health.
Travel by air. (+1 morale) Free morale gain.
Explore the cave.
Charm it. (-3 manna +2 morale)
Disguise as a goblin.(-3 manna +1 morale)
(+8 life)
Use an illusion.
A dragon (-4 manna +2 morale)
Firebolt (-2 manna +1 morale)
Kill them both (+6 life +2 morale) Best path in the goblin cave. -6 manna for +6 life and +6 morale.
(+5 life)
(+2 life +5 manna -2 morale)
Feed on the goblins (+8 life)
Use goblins as a decoy (+2 morale)
Have Narissa drop you. (-1 manna -8 health)
Offer your service.
Leave them. (+5 manna +2 life -2 morale)
Explore the rest of the castle.
Try to find another way into the tower.
(-2 manna)
Try to learn more from them.
Do not use a spell.
Eighteen. (+2 morale)
Just leave
LIGHTNING BOLT (-12 life -4 manna +3 morale) Oh yeah! Note: if you did choose to “Stay on the road (manna required)” or “Drain goats”+“Pay for Lodging”, in this option you’ll have to choose “Attack” or you’ll run out of manna. Note that the score doesn’t change in the end, as all the three combinations give you 3 morale points.
(+2 life +5 manna -2 morale)
Kill him.
Attack.
Speak to him.
Ambush on the hill.(+2 morale)
Lightning bolt. (-14 life -4 manna +3 morale)
Lightning bolt. (+5 morale -4 manna)
Lightning bolt. (-12 life -4 manna +4 morale)

Left (-3 morale)

Final stats: 10 life 3 manna 41 morale

First of all, sorry if this feels like I’m hijacking the thread from ReinFrost. I assure you that’s not my intention. I just wanted to post a better guide for some of the volumes because people have pointed out that there are indeed better choices than what the original guides advise. I’m still very thankful for the work that ReinFrost put into the original guide.
