The story is good, but MC mostly passive, even assertive option doesn’t feel that assertive I feel like MC just doing suggestion, the passive option however seems passive enough.

The incident with Alvir MC friend is helping to restraint Alvir, which doesn’t feel good, MC should handle him alone, feel more impactful than letting someone to help, being a Viking probably better that way, show strength to enforce the rule. .

I might add a choice between letting Leif restrain him and doing it yourself.

Could be the first skill check in game, with fight scene,

Maybe just let the voice take over if MC losing the fight?, I feel like there is not enough drive to let voice take over since the other party is being restrained MC is not in danger to justify it taking over, maybe fail skill check/losing the fight and voice will take over forcefully, seems more dramatic that way.

That’s honestly a good idea! I just might do that.

@Someoneverypretty played the demo just now and i enjoyed it one thing did encounter needs fixing. When in the burnt out village elska keeps on looping at least when it comes to the silent options you got at the very bottom for those moments. Might try to make more comments later but running on fumes so to speak lol.

@Valixon

Could you be a little more specific? Like what was the scene about; were you comforting Elska or searching for bodies, etc. And if you remember, what was the loop specifically? I’m having trouble finding it. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Lol both choosing not to comfort her if memory serves it was both last option we could choose and it literally looped back to the start of that burnt village an her never progressing past. Will double check in a bit for the exact but yeah that should be it unless you got something else going on.

Edit: its when choosing the option you walk forward, leaving her form behind you.

The very next page it goes to the black rubble and when choosing that pages last option
You keep onward. She needs to learn to face her fears. …an while checking and jumping back hear to post thr exact its finnslly fixed lol

Great! I was looking at a completely different section of the code. There’s so many times you can comfort the poor girl.

I got that fixed up! I forgot I renamed an old label so it kept looping, thank you for catching that.

I’ll be trying this out for certain later today when I have the time, because it sounds incredible! Especially because as a Scandinavian, I’m naturally really into old Norse mythology and vikings in general. (I say vikings loosely here when it comes to the people of that time, since vikings were in fact not a people, society, nor even a culture but rather a profession someone could pick up in the same way being a pirate is a profession) I’m just sad that the red flag romance is limited to being a man, haha.

Don’t take that as criticism towards your work or your story though, because it really isn’t aimed at that. I’ve just noticed that it’s a reoccurring theme I’m seeing in a lot of IFs that have a red flag romance. They almost always seem to be limited to men 9/10 times for some reason. I don’t know why that’s a thing mind you, which in and of itself would make it interesting to try and figure out.

I understand that and I’ve gotten the same complaint before on my tumblr, but in this story I have no other choice but to make him a man. :smiling_face_with_tear: You will see when you meet him.

Another thing is that there are two other ROs, Ingmar and Sassa who are minor compared to the big five. So hopefully you like them more.

In total, there are 4 male ROs and 3 female ROs.

Ah, that reminds me of what I wanted to bring up, but couldn’t remember (it was late by the time I finished last night.) When shutting off/down specific romances at the beginning, it only works for Thyra. No one else (I tried to shut off all the money and the best friend) even registers for it. I can’t tell if it had any kind of effect or not though…because I didn’t even attempt to romance anyone. But when it confirms your choice, Thyra is the only one it confirms.

Fixed that up, thanks for reporting it!

That’s totally fine. As I said, it wasn’t a complaint or a criticism of your game at all. It was just an observation I noticed from being chronically online on Tumblr to look at WIPs, haha.

I’m currently working on Chapter 2 and making a few edits to Chapter 1. For those not following me on Tumblr, here are a few quick updates:

Chapter 1 edits:

  • More chances to romance Thyra since only one route had a flirting option.
  • A completely new opening, where you raid a village like a true Viking (with the option to go berserk under the influence of drugs).
  • More variations in the way the characters interact with you while you’re drunk depending on your personality, etc.

What to look forward to in the second chapter:

  • Going to York (finally).
  • There will be four different routes to meet the King, with the fourth splitting into two additional paths depending on whether you get caught or not, and whether you’re drunk, among other factors.
  • First impressions matter, at least to the King. So, don’t be too wild. :cowboy_hat_face:
