Like all you know I role playing and My Mara only interest is GO UP IN THE SOCIAL SCALE so she wont left a brilliant army career to go university in times of war. She is happy in the ambasador door and has already give some good advances in the court. If Ekaterina is hurt or whatever she doesnt care because she is not there to impress. And abaut romance options for me there is none, all is goodie goodie or worse; commoners. I want a political alliance with someone competent and ambitious… sadly there is none yet.

But your social position increases if you marry Ekaterina, a Countess and someone that is connected in the Imperial family’s network … so shouldn’t your mc care?
Aww…but he’s so cute. 
Although I’ll bet it might be a long time before my mc finally meets him again, since I vastly prefer the military attache part, particularly since it means my character can keep on wearing nice uniforms for the time being.
As to the language I speak Dutch, German (though not nearly as well as some of the other regulars here) and of course we all speak English around here.
Afrikaans is weird for modern Dutch people, it’s based on an older form of our language and then mixed with English and even some native terms, to my ears it’s the uncanny valley of language, every time I think I might “get” what South Africans speaking it are on about it turns incomprehensible right after.
No because She is not there, She is in the war and if Eka didnt say anything how my girl will know? My girl probably send her friendly letters to try to befriend her more. But she doesnt care about that preppy light headed rich girl who acts like a concubine and believes herself beyond reproach…
Oh how cool i am faking being so social… i hate her… however is the only noble romanceable who fits… worse because this mara is extrictly heterosexual to add more to the drama.

Psst…there’s a revolution brewing social climbing in the noble/imperial circles will be for nothing since the Imperial family are done for anyway and the influence of any surviving nobility will decrease yet again. In the best case I could see them becoming vestigial just like ours over here.
What I mean by that is that there are no new inheritable noble titles being given out by the Queen/King or the government anymore. The best one can get, unless one marries a pre-existing “noble” is non-inheritable knighthood for life. Higher and/or inheritable titles are no longer being created. Then again the current situation is one of our classical compromises that may not work anywhere else.
Not that it matters much, because whatever we do we’ll end up as a small town schoolteacher in the end, right Mara? 
Even if we do become a prominent revolutionary it seems that by the time the game ends we will have been worked out of higher office and reassigned to Antarctica.
When my sister went to South Africa, she was constantly being mistaken for an Africaaner, to the point where her host had to address it upfront so people would not overwhelm her with greetings and such in Africaans She said it was extremely disconcerting,
Edit - back on to the title thing: we already start with a title if we chose the correct background and I’m sure @Goshman will allow more than just a knighthood if we play our cards correct. idk… my MC is pure career military though so I have no idea how things will go for her.
I know that all Mara plot is doomed, She will end with a destiny far BEyond death and torture. Being a teacher for poor rural commoners kids in a shit hole. But she doesnt, if she does know her destiny she directly suicide herself.
I would love aim for her being in power and break that stupid commoner aceptance.

What about Scars that make you more cute?
Difficult to do, the most prominent example of a scar that makes you “cuter” would the protagonist of FFVIII

In any case the scars of Ekatarina in this game or Caz in the Infinity Series do not make them cuter. Poor Caz, he was so cute back when he was a Cornet. 
Only if you choose the “noble” background though, so my mc doesn’t. 
I’m more of the mind that if we play our cards “correct” there will be no more knighthoods. 
Even if this revolution follows our mold (which is a long series of progressive reforms rather than storming the Bastille and putting them all to the guillotine) it means the “nobles” will lose a lot of political power and nearly all of their special privileges anyway greatly reducing the value of a knighthood or any other title.
It’s not just scars in case of Ekaterina. It’s a whole part of jaw missing and something with one of her legs causing her to limp. Scars pale in comparison.
Okay then still having scars that leave half of your face a mess, like Cazarosta in the Infinity series doesn’t exactly make you any “cuter” either.
I got tbh, as a person who is South African, I really enjoyed the bits of Afrikaans thrown in there, gave those scenes a nice warm feeling to see something from home ahah

Now that I’m thinking about fictional Anthems, given the French revolutionary vibe of the other WiP that caters to the revolutionary in me, “The Golden Eagle” I’m thinking of adopting “Chant du départ” as the anthem of the revolutionary republic there, provided our characters in that game will be in a position to influence such matter of course.
In any case I’ve always preferred that one to the Marseillaise, much like I preferred the East-German anthem to the Deutschlandlied.
Fun Fact: Both “Auferstanden aus Ruinen” and “Deutschlandlied” have the seem Metre (With the expection of the last line), making it possible to sing the texts of either to either melody :3

Eh, I’ve always been partial to Prussian style march music. Probably cultural bias since a majority of Finnish military tradition comes to us via the German Empire. Although the exchange goes both ways, since Marsch aus Petersburg is a march with origins in the Grand Duchy of Finland…
In any case! I have updated the story, and you will have the next week or so to go through it at your own leisure before I start working on it again. If there are major errors and issues, I will do some bugfixing when I can, but for the most part I will be on vacation and away from a keyboard.

Just played through what’s available on this WIP recently. I loved it! The setting seems really cool, I like the amount and types of choices available, I like the writing and the characters I’ve encountered so far… so, yeah. Loving it!

Any idea how long we will have to stay in the new world
Long enough to get command of our own troops or army, I hope and then we can use that army to aid the revolution (at a price) and smash the Aristo’s. Basically I hope our mc can engineer it to be in a position comparable to that of general Franco in Spain where our colonial forces can decide the outcome back home.
