All parts of the Imperial government are already secular, (except for the armed forces, but that will become clear in chapter 2)
You can make your own religion or cult, based on science and reasoning, and some aspects of religion, like the Cult of Reason and the Cult of the Supreme Being.
Cult of Reason like religion being completely secular and atheistic, while Cult of the Supreme Being like religion being a blend of reasoning and spirituality.
Heroes or martyrs sounds more patriotic to me since it still encourages struggle and resilience despite the failure in the first attempts, for example if our kingdom is invaded by a foreign power and they arrest the royal family and put a king in custody. foreign puppet as well as in Spain during the Napoleonic wars the Spaniards would not tolerate that so a bloody rebellion against the French empire was unleashed despite being at an armament disadvantage or military planning their attacks on the French garrisons were constant and that became a headache for Napoleon but a good chance for the Duke of Wellington
In addition, with the classification of religions in this fantasy region, there are experts who classify four phases in the religious formation of humanity; 1. Animism which is the belief that all parts of our natural environment and our fellow human beings have a spirit or soul. 2. Shamanism, which is the belief that there are people who can perceive these souls and their alterations that have effects on our environment. 3. Polytheism by beginning to attribute greater powers to some of these souls or spirits over others and the shamans become priests of an organized religion and finally until now with monotheism.
I think you should let players decide their battle cry in the game just like player name, instead of choosing it for them, because all people are different and they have different views,
like I am an atheist so I am not going to choose a battle cry with God in it because I donât want to be a hypocrite,
Also,in the description of the game there is a mention that our MC can become a future president which means abolishment of the Monarchy,
So,that 1st battle cry For throne and Empire!
is out of the question.
Also, many of the people who are going to purchase your games are not going to be native English speakers (including myself) so they might use the battle cry of their country and nation.
The point I am trying to make is donât choose for the player and let them choose themselves and in the final game you should let the player decide their battle cry by typing it like our Main Characterâs name.
It doesnât have any complications in programing, itâs very basic, every cog and hg game let the player decide their house name in games based on monarchy, and many games like War for the west have the option to let MC decide their house moto.
It is a nice suggestion which would solve the entire issue of finding a war cry and yet, there is one small issue, MC and the army arenât the same thing. Your MC can be atheistic but the armed forces have to be religious. (important for story reasons).
Another thing is, I want the player to feel as if they are in a actual world, deciding minute details might be a bit not immersive, especially when it is the soldiers who decide war cries, not government.
If you are worried about the word âGodâ then donât be, as I doubt I would include it since it is unpopular.
âFor Thorne and Empireâ would be replaced by something else if you make Riyasan a presidential state.
This however, still was an excellent suggestion! I think I will give the MC the opportunity to lead a charge where they can shout their own personal battle cry.
Well this choicescript caught my attention, Iâm going to take a look to see how it works and help other content creators like you
Another thing I have lately checked biographies of important rulers of different nations from Suleiman the Magnificent, Catherine the Great of Russia, Napoleon Bonaparte, SimĂłn BolĂvar and Otto Von Bismarck. So I can ask you what are your historical references to create plausibility in this fictional story?
Since this is set in Napoleonic times so it draws inspiration from Napoleon Bonaparte, other than him, the only major influence is Muhammad Ali Jinnah (or as we, Pakistanis call him, Quaid-e-Azam, meaning the great leader)
There are more figures which have influenced this story like Katerina Sforza, Otto von Bismarck, Charles Maurice de Tallyrand, Maximilien Robespierre, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Gaius Augustus Caesar and many others.
Riyasanâs kingdom of Filera is famous for its music, opera, literature and plays while Riyasan proper is famous for its architecture and statues.
You can be a patron of the arts and philosophy (or write some work of art, yourself) , and you will have deal with the influence these works of art have on Riyasani society, and romance a composer if you like him.
Iâve been following the thread for some time now. Iâve been seeing how people are curious and have questions regarding the army, beuracracy, ministry, religion, foreign powers, etc in this cyoa, and how youâve answered them, I wanted to ask what is set endpoint of this book - till the heir becomes the emperor/empress ?
And, is this going to be a standalone book ?
Also, the scope is huge(including the humongous amount of lore) and already discusions on the thread have covered topics from religion to army to war chants to the very minute intricacies of beuracracy (just to name a few broad topics). So I was wondering if you have an estimated word count for the story or if itâs mostly just in the planning phase?
These are some questions that popped up in my mind simply out of curiousity, sorry if they feel like weird Qâs lol.
Sorry if these questions were asked and answered before. I couldnt find anything regarding my doubts.
The endpoint isnât MC becoming Sovereign, as it will happen in Chapter 3. For now, the endpoint of the book is set at getting Riyasan through the dire straits and the changing times in the period of MCâs life. (I realize how vague it is)
I had thought about splitting it into two books as replaying one massive book is a headache without checkpoints, but now it is possible to add chapter checkpoints without doing much coding thanks to Softly by @cup_half_empty (check out the tool here), so for the time being, it will be a standalone
The scope seems huge but it will not be in a single playthrough. A good example of this will be Chapter 2. If you were to be a minister then you will read a lot about bureaucrats and their world but nothing about the army and vice versa if you chose to be a military officer. In this way, choices would limit the lore and scope. (writing all the material will take a lot of time though)
As for estimated word count, I donât know since what I have are ideas and concepts. Once I start writing, it will become more clearer.
And donât worry! Your question were very nice and even if they were weird, they would still be very nice. After all, weird questions force us to think in weird non-conventional ways
What kind of organization is the Riyasan armed forces? (Details of the class system, is there a conscription system, what kind of equipment is used, what is the logistics organization, where is the headquarters, who are the commanders-in-chief and senior commanders? What kind of food do military personnel eat, what kind of culture does the military have, etc.)
Is it possible to reform the armed forces?
Also, is there any system in the world of this game that regulates war, such as chivalry and international law of war? If so, what is it?
