Thanks, @Foxalyptic, I’ll add that first thing tomarrow morning
@Fox use “< pre >” to use code (no spaces between brackets)
@Doctor No problem
and @CitizenShawn is correct, Fairmath is the way most games that use % are increased/decreased as it makes sure your percent doesn’t go past 100% and helps balance how easy it is to gain skill.
And thank you! @ CitizenShawn
@Citizen, I’m probably going to ditch the nicknames going along with profession, but I do appreciate that, and yeah, I’ll change the stat changes with that. Being my first game I’m not sure if mine’s going to make it much further that yours.
To work in Firefox, does it need to be re zipped or something? Because when I open with Firefox (my one scene) it just shows the code
Are you opening the index.html file? Perhaps you have an old version of ChoiceScript but I’m thinking it’s more of a question of which file…
Should be in mygame>web>index.html
Also, you have to open it from within that folder, because it needs to know where the things are. You can’t move index.html to your desktop or something and open it from there, it won’t work.
@poison_mara This is my last off topic post, sorry @Doctor
Mara, it’s a great picture! Don’t belittle your work. I only said “pink” “fluffy clouds” and “balloons” because it seemed very anti-Mara. I was only joking.
Honestly, it’s a very cool pic and not girly looking in the least!
Thanks @Lucid I felt like it is worse due I didn’t paint the original pencil sketch. But is the better i can do because i have no money to waste in professional artists
So is there going to be natives or a cult, more cast aways, all of the above?
@Doctor It’s probably best that you catch this now when you’re starting out;
*intelligence
*echoing
*throughout
This game reminds me of “Sims castaway” although I think this game will be more entertaining and fun. Just don’t make it like the tv show Lost.
Will i be able to have a pet sandcrab which a terrible gambling habit?
@CitizenShawn, the Index HTML is at my Downloads/Choicescript/dfabulich-choicescript-677b975/web/mygame, along with a scenes folder, a credits HTML, and a mygame javascripy file; when I attempt to open it at that location, with firefox, it says
File not found
Firefox can't find the file at /C:/Users/William/Downloads/Choicescript/dfabulich-choicescript-677b975/web/mygame/mygame/index.html.
Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
@Darkstalker, oh yeah, you can’t have a good castaway movie, game, or book without natives unless your Tom Hanks.
@MutonElite, it’ll be fixed before you know it… where you can’t see it. thanks
@Aera, I did play Sims Castaway a long while ago, though I didn’t beat it… If it is like LOST, I will be proud.
@That1German, crabs are food, not friends… yeah I guess I can hook that up… not sure what you’d be gambling on… or with.
He’s gambling for coconuts,duh. I thought that was obvious and as for who he’s gambling with, it’s a beached whale, a snarky cannibal, and a skull of a previous inhabitant of the island…damn the insanity is already getting to me
Speaking of which, that should be a factor in your game, mental health
@german, That’s a good idea! I’ll add that.
@Foxalypitic, so how do I use fairmath? Is it a command?
No idea I still without understand fairmath because I’m null in maths. You just have to set stats originally above zero and put +% number. That impedes surpass 100 and made up in highest levels almost Impossible
sort of like what i was doing originally? I can do that.
@Havenstone, that is how I was opening it… it says mygame twice in the error message, but there isn’t a second one in the files… unless you include the javascript
Doctor, should there be “mygame/mygame” twice in that error message? That duplication in the file path looks odd.
Meanwhile instead of trying to open it with an active browser, how about opening the folder index.html is in, right-clicking on the file, and selecting Open with… Firefox?
Edit: and to use fairmath, the percent sign goes first: %+20, for example. You only use it when you’re adding or subtracting from a stat in game, not when you’re creating them.
@Doctor
So everybody is already dead and in a purgatory state until they realise what they ultimately need to do in order for them to get off the island? :-/
