Hmm debatable Mao doesn’t seem to hold demonic sects in high regard from what I gathered now Jack on the other hand seems willing to use anything to get one over the mc even using his ultimate move to show off while his village is being burned down all while antagonizing possible allies and the mc like the arrogant lil feck he is.

How old is this Save (as in, when did this playthrough start)? I believe I fixed that months ago but if it’s still happening then something’s amiss. It will still happen on old savegames however, as they initialized the variables already.

I mean, to be completely honest, I don’t think Mao cares about the MC that much yet. Sure, he kind of wanted to punish that upstart nobody, and was pretty frustrated to not be able to, but for the most part, he just seem to not think about the MC too much, and just be petty when we enter his thoughts.
Jack’s the one with a massive chip on his shoulder that would probably do anything to show us up.

Exactly in Jack’s mind he has been shown up by a worthless Laborer Caste trash several times so he is def willing to use some dirty tricks at least in my opinion… arrogance was something Mao had a hand in giving him though being treated like you are the best all the time is a recipe for disaster and the village more or less has paid for it cuz the idiot was more focused on attacking allies and showing off his new tricks to the mc instead of keeping any survivors safe from Tao and his goons as well as the more demonic threats.
