I was replaying the game, and noticed something that I had previously glossed over; The option for MC to be suddenly be super racist towards Yokai for apparently no reason.
There’s no problem if you want to tackle such issues through your story, but racism is not something that is embedded in people’s DNA, it is something that is taught. Calling Tian Fang “mutt” or other dog related insults I could get as I justified it as MC deliberately trying to get under her skin, but seeing the option for MC to proclaim “I hate all Yokai” after the Inn fight just made me laugh, cause such strong emotions come out of nowhere in my opinion.
Perhaps one of MC’s teachers was racist and tried to imprint such ideas in young MC mind. Or maybe one of Jack’s henchmen was a Youkai, and he/she terribly beat up either Jin or Rin, and that made MC hate Youkai. I am just spitballing ideas here, but I think that if you are going to input such choices, there should atleast be some kind of believable reason for MC to even consider choosing such choices.

That option is also there if you’re a Yokai. It is extremely funny to pick.

In fact, I chose that to see what result I could get, and it seemed quite good when you can use it as a line to break the ice with Desdemona (all my characters are yokai)
would be way too much hassle to implement all of that in. you are better off just headcanoning where your MCs racism came from.

Is there going to eventually be a background that syncs with each style or will some backgrounds work with multiple styles?

I’ve contemplated putting a softcap on Aura Pressure to simulate the setting better. The system would be that once you reach the soft cap (800) AP gains are cut in half except by Heavenly Gates. It would be more immersive to understand why your area is weak and to feel the sudden reality after your meteoric rise, however at the same time, no one likes being held back.
Running a poll here to see how people feel about the idea.
- Let players feel the same AP cap as the rest of the province.

Do people in this world chose which style to practice or are they already born with chi leaning into one of them. I just want believe the MC’s whole family has the Malocchio Eyes and you cant stop me 
Hahaha same, and the way I named the clan as Uchiha, it’s rather fitting.
I’m super excited for the art of ninjutsu route, I can’t wait to fully master that puppetmaster technique.

I am not a Yokai, you see when I was born I was cursed to grow horns and a cow tail even though I was human. So I am not a disgusting animal I am just a poor human cursed to look like one of those creatures

wouldnt mind this. I personally dont think that the softcap gets in the way of the power fantasy-if anything, still kicking ass even when the universe deems it fit to nerf me is about as power fantastickal as it gets.
but ive seen the poll results and im not really surprised. maybe you could put it in as an optional thing for those interested.

That’s a fun concept. A dude who’s super racist against his own race to justify his own awful behavior because ‘we’re all like that’.
Technically, Uncle Ruckus is convinced he has reverse vitiligo and isn’t black for most of the show.
I think people are against it because it make Aura Pressure management more complicated rather than for any story reason. I’m neutral on it.

Lets be fair, its likely one of those Yokai creatures casted curse on you because they wanted to play a sick joke on a human. Shameful behavior,that’s why we can’t trust those mutts
Adding to the poll results: we are already built different. We advance like mad despite normal cultivation rules. IMO would feel kinda strange to limit us that way.
Now, limiting our avialable techniques and other knowledge that we would need to fight and steal for, this would make more sense. We got raw talent, but no one would hand us the real knowledge that is not average training stuff that’s not really a secret.

I disagree, the only weird times we advanced was the Heaven Gate and copying the bandit’s ascension, which is explained by the usual MC power of ‘If I see it, I can do it’ and luck, outside of that every advancement we got was from hard work collecting shards and being smart in collecting information.
