Wow this was quite the blast. One of the best best demo’s I played.
I can only reach 4%. I have no idea how you got to 8%.
I had a really fun time with this. As someone aptly put before, it didn’t just feel like I was reading but also playing a game and I didn’t realise I was missing that feeling for a while.
Good job on not making the beginning feel too heavy on stat checks, rather I got to develop my skills and set my expectations about how they would be used. Admittedly, some stats don’t feel like they are used as often as some others even if we don’t take combat stat checks into consideration.
I think crafting was called out as one of them but then again there are couple of instances where the benefit gained is greater than for some other stats. For stealth, I only remember two cases where it was tested and even then you could opt out of one. Surprisingly athletics didn’t seem to be tested as often as I expected but I guess the description in the skill book kind of explains it.
For survival, it felt you could get by with the minimum but it’s possible that you can passively get better rewards at higher levels and I wouldn’t know.
I’m glad to see you have plans to polish the stat screen, there are a couple of things in particular I’d like to see. One is switching your equipment faster by not having to unequip what you’re currently wearing and then equiping the new piece, same principle for attuning your armguards to another Core. I’m hoping this isn’t too much to ask coding-wise.
Something else which came to mind is being able to track Jin’s, Rin’s and Kosuke’s martial arts progress somewhere since we can not only unlock their auras early and train with them, we can even give them Weighted Clothing if you have an extra pair! I stumbled upon this when I was messing around so I assume being able to have such an inflience on them can have great results in the near future(or not, given that while it doesn’t give extra dialogue for now, Rin isn’t especially enthused to put in the effort so her training option might not actually give her gains )
Sorry about the bloated comment, looks like I couldn’t stop once I got started
I look forward to what you have in store for the next update dear Author.
I’m pretty cutious too, anyone knows if bringing the bandits to justice back at the village or sending them to wreck havoc at the Sunbringers territory makes a difference to clan prestige? Or maybe even making one a slave boosts prestige?
Is there plans for any non-hetero romance options?
Cheers to the rise of cultivation adventures!
Yo big boss I have a couple of questions if I mastered the blade style, could I teleport myself and other people or is it just attacks? Second question, would I be able to make my own techniques or will I just have to find them and only be able to make weapons and pills and elixirs? Third question have there ever been Warriors without a fighting style and element in the world and how long would they last if they didn’t have those things? if I come up with more questions, I will be sure to let you know
I’m glad you have a screenshot. I told them the same thing but I did not have a screenshot. Said it was going to be fixed at some point
I cheated, I add months so I could do everything
To add months open console type in stats, look for temp, click the arrow and look for months
Midorikatai users may get an animal companion later, it’s not in-game yet.
@Chomper I felt Stealth was done dirty too, I’ll see about giving it some tangible uses. Craft is going to be great at the Trials downtime, while Athletics will be a good Trials skill for actual physical Trials. As for the bandits the results for some options should come in later but one should have happened already and got cut for the deadline, I’ll work on addressing them.
@Phantomblade I’m working on the idea of creating a single custom Technique but whether it fits into this book or is good sequel material is still to be seen. As for the teleportation, that’s high level stuff that won’t show up in this game but if we get to sequels it’ll be very useful for saving time in certain periods by cutting travel time and yes you can bring others. As for Warriors with no Style or Element, there are PLENTY. Any thug/tribal leader can cultivate an aura from raw resources but have no access to proper Path Manuals. And for others belonging to no Sect who can’t figure out Shugendo, there are plenty of Freestyle Techniques for them to gather, 3 of which are in the game already. I’d say there’s more unrefined powered up bumpkins than there are proper Martial Artists.
@Lucas_Gendron Yep, apologize for the gamebreak. That one’s mentioned at the OP post and fixed for the next update.
@Itzthedapperlionyt devilish
Anon-san, will you fix the always-failing athletics check when you’re using Athletics to solve the first fight with Jack and his pet bastards? A friend of mine failed it with 4 Athletics.
Great feel, really put me into the mindset of Martial Artist. Pretty fun to play pure musclehead Oni, all those descriptions of powerful attacks and I’m just like “I catch it.” or “I suplex that Grim Beast who’s like thrice bigger than me” and I freaking DO.
Looking forward to more and eventual release.
Your first fight with Jack is a fruitless effort no matter how skilled you are, you’d just be a better fighter compared to mortals. He’s in a different league and enforced with superhuman abilities. You’d need some sort of trickery to win such as…“Punching him” but pulling out your Blacksmith tanto, knocking him off the cliff then drinking your Alchemist’s healing elixir, luring him to the forest where your Trapper father found a Beast, or casting a curse on him with your Merchant father’s specialty goods: the curse scroll.
I threw him off the cliff, it worked pretty well.
Also I found a typo, it should be ‘beggar’ instead of ‘begger’ no?
This game is surprisingly fun. Really enjoyed the humor sprinkled through.
Also enjoying this influx of martial arts IF. Good luck!
Found another gem lmao
Are there any beyond this one and Path of Martial Arts?
I also appreciate the recent surge in fresh ideas. Like this one, Path of Martial Arts, Kingdoms and Empires, Heart of the Dungeon, The Onryo and the also recent Super System. Especially since they all seem to be trying to have deeper mechanics than what we’re used to.
Really really fun, I’ve played the whole demo and I was intrigued trying to figure out how long will it take me. I’ve love it. I cannot move from my seat waiting for the next thing to happen.
Love the mechanics. I found them super fun and makes sense. Its true that some of them depending of what are you doing are more useful than others (The character that I created was very social so with Persuasion, and insight could do a lot of things) I also found the crafting ability super interesting and fun, I usually don’t like the kind of crafting abilities in games where’s magic everywhere, but in this one, I found it mundane, and useful, its really about crafting not only your tipical bonfire but also art. Which is something that I did not see coming and makes me want to create more art, we could even infuse it with magic maybe? Who knows.
Just love this, and waiting for the next update. And about the characters: Guiren just left me wanting to know more about him because he’s hardly in here. Or at least in the route that I follow
Desdemona: Bestie, specially if your characters is into sorcery. Love her very much.
Kosuke: Really charming to be honest, a little bit of the thief trophy but I like so, not gonna lie, really like him too.
Need to know more about the others to create my own opinion, but I want to see the romances too. Specially I wonder how Jack its going to be, like, he’s an asshole, so…not really sure how you can make us like him so our character can fall in love with him, but really looking forward to it.
And I think that’s all that I have to say. Really fun game so far. And waiting for more.
Will any other or just those two
