You know, I liked this way more than I expected! I’m not really into cosmic horror (or any horror), but this is more a mystery than a horror. I like the characters, I like the MC, I like how you write - in short, it’s really quite good.
I look forward to seeing how you proceed!

Just found this yesterday and I’m hooked.
A couple of mistakes here and there, but overall the quality of the text is quite nice.
Are you sure you want the title to be 1966?
Because before checking it out out of boredom, I thought this was something about historical fiction or something. I feel like it might not appeal to people who might be interested in your story. Which is a shame really. Maybe add the genre in parenthesis?
Just a thought.

Saw some comments saying the demo was “long”, so I decided to give it a try. Next thing I knew, I stayed up till 2 AM playing—and I still haven’t finished. The humour is right up my alley. I really dig the jokes

Love when the bilingual braincell gets to work overtime.
Right now, I’m stuck deciding whether to side with the Fishy Church or the ETAS diggers. I’m leaning toward freeing the poor MC from their eternal prison, but honestly, I’m not sure if I was sleep-reading and accidentally skipped a few sentences (or pages), because I didn’t fully grasp what “keeping the dreamer in his prison” versus “freeing the dreamer” actually means. Also… did I miss who the dreamer is ? I kinda got the impression the dreamer is us ?
I also really liked how organic our relationship with Paul developed. At first, he was just the shy, awkward, eccentric, extra curious, scaredy French painter working for ETAS. But now he’s trusting us, opening up about his family curse, even got confident enough to start joking and flirting in his own awkward way, overcoming his fears to protect us and still extra curious about everything alien. I love him, your honour.
Thank you for letting him come up with a name for us, sinon, I would have stayed up far longer than 2 AM trying to find a fitting one. I also noticed you kept his way of talking in french fit the period.
At first, I thought we were the only eldritch being, but it turns out there’s a fish cult and an archeologist dog/ghoul running around, apparently without most of the residents even noticing? Like… what was those townspeople’s beating up the pastor reaction to his appearance ? Did they not question it ?
I liked how you can choose different what kind of nature you really are underneath the mortal shell. How would they come into play ? I picked “disease” because it made the human bar go down by 1, and I wanted to lean into some self-loathing. And how apparently people react differently depending on MC’s and RO’s gender. Chapeau, if you can juggle all those variations.
Paul seeing what we looked like in his nightmarish dream and one of the reactions being “I have to kill him, he knows too much” chef’s kiss. In that moment, I just wanted to hide my figurative nakedness.
I had a great time mixing up my choices, even if I leaned more towards raising certain stats. It didn’t feel like there was a lack of them either. The range let me shift between playing merciful, straight-up murderous, fond of puny humans, or completely disgusted by them. But my MC is always sarcastic, and to this day, I’ve never regretted playing a sarcastic MC, they never let you down. They’re half the reason for the levity in the story. Your honour, I love the MC too.
Also… how could Paul afford a whole wardrobe of fashion show outfits for us ? The variety was wild—the list just kept going. Where is he getting this money ? Breakfast and lunch included ? Is it the valise he’s always clutching protectively ? Why was he whispering “Ils me tueront !” ?
Oh, and I almost forgot about that man in the dungeons. I really felt sorry for him, please tell me he survived ? I freed him from the shackles and called the police for him, I wish i could do more !
And the secret penpal admirer ! And the crown gift ! I still haven’t finished play/reading, so I don’t know if they were revealed yet.
Thank you for the fun (and long !) demo. I haven’t encountered any bug this far. Please, don’t let it die !

What’s one universe in a multiversal existence, less space to pollute is good honestly, props to Cthulhu for that.
I mean if we are in fact who the game heavily hints/basically spells out us being then Old squid face isn’t really a threat to us? A lot of people forget cthulhu isn’t even a full great old one he’s basically a high priest and is quite a bit lower on the peaking order then us so yeah bad for earth and the mortals but for us it would be a really mild inconvenience. Of course us being in a human body makes things more challenging but ultimately Cthulhu is a pencil pusher compared to our true self

According to the lore, the creatures from the outer worlds don’t care about humans and don’t try to harm them.Why would they destroy the source of their existence?

Also, I have a question: I’ve seen people on Reddit/Tumblr say things like “wait for the author to update the link” about other WIPs. Do I need to update the link every time I fix bugs? Or if I add more chapters? The link on COGdemos doesn’t change when I reupload files…

No, you don’t.
That may be referring to the issue that older CoGDemos links are not functioning anymore due to an update on the site that changed the url addresses of the games.

I think “waking up and ending the universe” applies more to Azathoth 
so no worries! destroying the universe isn’t possible in this game. Only destroying human civilisation (as we know it)

Oh! ahaha, yes, he’s got stolen millions in the valise that he’s spending on new clothes)) But no, you’re right! I thought I’d explained that in the story, but I guess I just dreamt it. Roulet didn’t buy any clothes (he’s got no money, barely enough for a chicken nugget). I’ve added a bit of text to explain this! But also, this is just for the player (and for me, with my love of 1960s fashion). I suppose one has to imagine that not all of the items in the choice options are actually there (some suspension of disbelief, I suppose) But never mind! Thank you so much!! Thank you!

I don’t have a better title, I’m afraid… It was supposed to be a placeholder when I started writing in CSIDE, but I never managed to come up with anything better. And then it kind of grew on me.
As for the genre in parentheses: do you mean in the title of this forum post/topic?
(and please, tell me the mistakes, if you can! That would be a huge help!)
