Since Eric’s writing career is on hiatus I’m taking liberty to copy past here the most recent synopsis for CCH3 (9 November 2022)
CCH3
This is the idea I’m going with for Part 3…Road Trip. I’m saying this because I’ve finally made up my mind and I’m not turning back from this idea. One reason I’ve spun my wheels for years is that, in my mind, I had to keep upping and upping and upping the stakes to conclude in some huge battle with 50-some characters.
And well…that just didn’t excite me.
You know the problem with movies series and shows that go this route…the climax is always underwhelming, a huge CGI-clusterfuck that loses the intimacy, the emotional connections that were formed by the rest of the story. And with our games, we don’t even have the CGI to fall back on!
So yeah, there will be a final show-down (it’s a superhero story after all) but it might be structured differently than you would assume. Here is an extended Logline that I’ve been polishing. I’m happy enough with it to share it now…
Logline: After pulling off an impossible mission, you’ve finally earned the powers you’ve craved for long, but is it too late for you to make a difference?
The Diabolical Dozen, stronger than ever, wage war on major U.S. coastal cities, and even the heroes at Savior and Prestige seem impotent against the villains’ murderous rampage. With the ‘big name’ heroes defending their home turf, who will protect the rest of the country? Could it be a ragtag band of barely superpowered college kids from America’s heartland?
Speck’s campus may be destroyed but the “Heroes Among Us” program perseveres. As reconstruction commences, you and your classmates are ordered by Dean Tolly to “spread your wings” and go wherever you’re needed, giving a whole new meaning to ‘work study.’ America is a sprawling nation, and the threats are many. It’s time to hit the road.
Embark on the road trip of a lifetime, crisscrossing the United States, hitting the highways and backroads with your friends. Discover new allies, reconnect with old classmates, level up with your new abilities, protect Middle America from threats great and small, and mature into the heroes the world needs you to become.
Can you gather enough allies, build enough teamwork, and gain enough power to safeguard your adopted hometown when the Dozen reveals its master plan?
Or…do you even want to?
Will your love for a certain classmate drive you to prioritize their safety over all else?
Does a desire to survive at any cost drive you to abandon your classmates when they need you most?
Have you become so disillusioned by your dealings with Prestige and Savior that you’d consider switching sides?
What kind of hero…or villain…will you become?
Your studies at Speck.
The conflict between Prestige, Savior, and the Dozen.
Your carefree days with your unforgettable little group.
They all end here.
As for my experience:
I joined the forum back in 2018 to follow CCH2 development, CCH1 was my very first HG game. During this time I’ve noticed this: Eric is a good guy, but he’s always had the tendency to change his plans… quite a lot.
This year was meant to be his first year as semi full time writer, but from his sudden stop I think he went in full burn out and disillusionment: he didn’t even want to finish FM, which was almost finished, or the short story he promised on patreon, which was in polishing phase per his own words.
I don’t judge him and I don’t know if he will ever come back. I wish so but no one should force someone, especially a creative, into something he doesn’t want to.
