Which Ideas Do You Like? (Fairy Tales)

I love Swan Lake! I always thought it was one of the best fairy tales. And I like the idea that we’re essentially Odile-- she’s a fave.

Thank you for your feedback! Two seems popular.

@Silhuetta - Firstly, thank you for your response!

To answer the first: Yes and no. Depending on the way things go, it might take longer to figure out what their situation is. To answer the latter - A very good question! School does technically describe it, but also not. More on that will be elaborated in the game! (If that one gets written.) …That didn’t really answer anything, wow.

They tend to be a favorite of mine!

Fret not! While the element that a being devoid of many emotions receives them in a human form is integral to the story, I would never force an mc to embrace these feelings and they can actively ‘refuse’ them!

They have some semblance of who they are (or I should say were), though it’s kind of hazy. The whole predicament with everything else…not so much. And haha, there would be many chances for that.
Hmm, the word ‘Phylactery’ seems familiar, something a game…
While I do love Dragon Age Origins (the other’s I’m in the middle about), the word is also used to describe the parts of the lich’s soul that have been sealed away into an object/material thing. It’s usually how they’re killed/controlled in fantasy settings. (Now that I think about it, wasn’t Voldemort practically a lich? Not on topic but I never connected that…hm)

Don’t give up! It sounds like a very clever idea! I had one for Little Red but it kept coming back to werewolves…: And thank you for the recommendation! I’ll have to check it out.

They are definitely the favorites! Now to narrow it down to one…

:joy: I’m picturing a harem of demonic princes and - it’s beautiful.

Oh you don’t even know. Although, admittedly, all of my plots have at least a tiny bit of angst. I live for emotional plot points/impact. :innocent:

Thank you! I’m glad you saw it. I tried to have all the plots have tie-ins to the original stories in many different aspects (even though it might be more evident in the actual game.) And that she is. :sunglasses:

Oh, please any Lich worth his salt would make mincemeat out of old Moldyshorts.
Then again the whole problem with the “magical community” in the Harry Potter verse is their excessive stagnation and isolation. I doubt for one that those wands that can be easily disarmed are really the most efficient power-boosting and channeling devices possible, why is there no research being done on implants by the magical equivalent of the military, for example?
ugh, sorry for the rant, as a series of coming of age novels Harry Potter was an enjoyable read, but as a fan of magic, generally speaking, the magic system in those books didn’t leave me terribly impressed. The protagonist goes to the magical equivalent of Eton and cannot even get his eyes fixed, or at least permanently transfigure his ugly glasses into something more stylish, please, what are they teaching those kids there…

Oh, Into the Woods.
It’s a fun movie/musical Billy Magnussen in particular makes for a very cute prince and the Witch is great.

I do have a few questions about memory and learning in your Snow White concept. If the mc is forced to attend school in hell how will they be able to learn and remember much of anything while their real body presumably lies bruised, battered and deteriorating in the real world? How will you address that will the mc be placed in some hospital’s long term coma unit for example, while they’re having their adventures in hell?
Does it work the other way around (too) and do their adventures in hell somehow nourish and sustain their real body?
Or does time flow at a radically different rate in hell so the mc can attend years worth of school in the span of a few minutes or seconds in the real world?

Questions, questions, I know. (and I haven’t even started on Swan Lake again). :grinning:

Yay for the harem of gorgeous demon boys, as long as make our mc work to earn it. I dislike those harem games where the characters just inexplicably throw themselves at an utterly bland, dull, dimwitted and not terribly skilled or talented mc.

Ooh I like Swan Lake the best.

Though “Snow White and the Seven Crown Princes of Hell,” is a great title.

True, true. It’s kind of ironic that his main goal was to achieve immortality, but in doing so died sooner than he (probably) would have from natural causes. Or that he decided to choose glaringly flashy objects for his holcruxes. He was very prideful and vain, but you would think at least one of them could have been a tad more inconspicuous. :unamused:

And all excellent questions that I cannot answer! No need to apologize - I love hearing opinions and discussion like that. They are both enjoyable and beneficial to read. (I can assure you that fashion is of the utmost importance to at least like, five, characters in the Snow White game.)

Oooh, I believe I’ve seen trailers for it! (I’m having flashbacks to a dancing number in the woods - I don’t know where, but it was a blessing) I haven’t actually watched a movie in forever…I should probably remedy that.

This will delve into the mechanics of how “souls” work (will think of a better name later - just using it as a visualization), and in turn how the properties of magic operate. In a very simplified version, magic derives from a connection with the otherworld,* and humans have a faint tie because they possess a soul. Usually when a person dies, their soul returns to the world in a “corrupted” state, turning them into spirits. (Though they aren’t just ghosts…it’s all very complicated and will be displayed in the game) However, the mc didn’t technically die and their connection to their body wasn’t completely severed (and in turn haven’t been lost/corrupted). It’s kind of like being in two places at once… This is all very condensed but I will leave you with it for now!

Not a hospital, but the body won’t just be rotting in the ground. This again falls into spoiler territories and the nature of your “death,” but I will tease - it is a play on Snow White’s coffin.

One of the points of contention (between humans and the otherworld*), and there are many, has been over certain historical figures trying to wield more power than they ought to - a few of them having traversed on unnatural escapades to “hell.” (Again working with the magic mechanics) I will say it has not gone well for them…but then again, the mc has a very unique set of circumstances. Whether or not the mc’s time in hell has long-lasting effects on their body is a very good question.

While the world’s are parallel to one another, and time then runs the same, the concept of time is different between the world’s. The easiest example I can give is that while a year might seem like a decent quantity for humans, it is practically nothing for the denizens of the otherworld*.

I love questions! They help me develop things, or elaborate and iron out things I have established. Ask all the questions! (Though I do seem to be an ace at replying with entirely vague responses…)

Sadly there won’t be an actual harem in the game. That only exists in my imagination. :sob: However, the characters (including some princes) that are romancable will definitely be their own and react to the mc in different ways. (So for example, one might like a certain personality and develop a crush even if the mc doesn’t make a move. They might not like a certain type of personality, but after the mc pursuing their part, develop feelings. They will also react differently to different types of mcs and form different type of relationships - like being more playful or more protective and sweet - depending on the mc.) This is going to be a lot of work for me but it’s something I’ve always wanted to see in a game, so I’m going for it! (Edit: For whatever game I choose, not just the Snow White one, this will be the system in place. Since it is a character-focused game, a majority of the stats are going to be playing into this system.)

And I agree. I hate oatmeal-without-the-toppings mcs that somehow become all that and a bag of chips. :ghost:

*Names still coming later.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I’m going to have a very hard time choosing between the two. (I’ll probably post a short demo for both and then have a narrowed down vote.)

The idea did stem from my sole desire to work with that title, so I must thank you again for the compliment! :kissing_cat:

Like that part in DA:O where you come across something similar, an arcane warrior’s soul trapped in a vial or in other instances, you happen upon another curiously dark little container, have the option to shatter it, and poof out comes an OP mother…uh, hmm… piece of… of… thi-Revenant

Give 1. 6-10
Give 2. 8-10
Give.3 7-10
Give 4. 7.5-10

when you make a story try not to drag out sentences too much unless it has to show the scenery
also send me a message as to what made you come up with these ideas and if you would like some advice
on the subject. :smile_cat:

Out of the 4 given, I like the first 2 options the best. (Leaning toward the 1st one)

I would just like to input one thing (this is risky move NO.1 from me) but I am researching ancient stories/fairy tales at school and I came across one which I can’t actually remember much of.he didn’t give me a name but it’s about 3 cities, one ran on its citizens rage, one on its cities age, and another on the cities purity. Each city had one king and one son and daughter with each sibling either representing good and evil. But hidden away was a strangers city in which everyone was there own man/women but each came from a different city thus strangers to each other but could never return to their home.
That’s basically all I can remember  sorry it’s not much but…

Aww…and here I was betting that at least one of the Demon Prince boys would have one.

Well…since you’ve asked…I’ll be sure to write some more up after you’ve posted the demo’s.

I agree - @idonotlikeusernames thinks of things I wouldn’t at first blush.

My #1 is Peter Pan, because it sounds like a really interesting twist. I’m also a sucker for mundanity mixed with my fantasy.

My distant second choice is Swan of the Lake, because Swans ARE bastards and learning magic is usually fun.

Sorry, just realised that I’ve been lurking on this thread and haven’t answered the first question, my bad
I would like to were either the snow white story done or the Peter pan because they are my types of stories since they seem to be the most adventures of the choices, but the ideas are all great!

I like idea 1 and 4 ^.^ they seem very interesting
