Which genre do you feel is underrepresented?

My day off work is brilliant in that sense… It can be funny just pressing the snooze button until the end, though so much other to discover!

I noticed that too, I’m actually writing one like that right now that’s sort of Shadowrun inspired. Its not set so far in the future to the point where we have artificial intelligence but far enough so that it impacts the story.

If i am not mistaken, you meant Shadowrun the RPG right? That franchise actually combine Technology with Fantasy ( consists of mythical creatures called critters and magic)

For pure technology future, perhaps it is similar to Blade Runners or Altered Carbon ?

“that’s sort of” Shadowrun inspired. Its not based on Shadowrun, just inspired by it.

I like a lot of things from the RPG but I’m not a big fan of the magic part which makes no sense to me.

That sounds like a challenge. I’ll try and make season two scarier. I’ve got high hopes for the case “puppet on a string”

Horror, the cosmic kind.

This isn’t really a genre either but games where it is extremely clear that it isn’t a power fantasy (So more of a interactive novel than a CYOA). The Dragoon Saga fits that but that’s it as far as I am aware.

I second this. Being a huge noir-enthusiast myself, I’d definitely love to see more games of this genre. Though I understand that the typical characteristics of noir (i.e. misogyny, cynicism, violence, grim atmospheres) may put some people off and appeal to a significantly lesser audience than say sci-fi or romance.

The alarm thing haha, you can do that in TWC, I hit snooze and I was super later for work after that :joy:

I’d say all it needs is an author capable of playing effectively with these tropes.

There is one series by another publisher called Delight Games. The title is called Detective’s Choice.

I think my Spacing Out game kind of fits into the category because you can befriend the Queen of an insectoid race and even have hybrid babies together

What do you mean by underrepresented? Do you mean a lack representation? Or a lack of proper representation (like someone says it’s romance but is actually horror… yeah I know) or perhaps a lack of representation that would show the intrinsics of a genre?

If it’s the first one, that would definitely be a Drama, you know something set in the modern day with the stake not at all too big. Rhe second one would be Fantasy and Sci-fi (steampunk actually), people seem to just mix those two up. The third one definitely is drama, I’ve not yet encountered angst-worthy inner dialogue that would represent this genre well, Choice of Robots was as far as it went (not to say it wasn’t good, because it is).

More musical dramas would be nice

I think mysteries are fun. I’d be willing to give a chance to games who go to more specific genres, like what Mecha Ace does, instead of inhabiting a more general space like “sci-fi”. Comedies would be fun too. Old-style Shakespearean tragedies sound interesting, but I guess these would be really hard to do.

But if there’s one thing missing from CoG’s catalogue, it is the crazy, inventive Modernist novel. I mean, come on, we’ve had medieval adventures, romance stories and fantasy epics, it’s time for someone to take the medium to strange new heights. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want strange (or different, I should say), you can always read my WIP.

As far as underrepresented genres, I think mine would represent the genre of “game” the most.

Maybe Sports?
I’d like to see a soccer game where you grow as a player and try to win the champions league or something

Historical non fiction
