Warriors: A Darkness Within WIP

Omgomgomgomg!! Warriors! I haven’t seen this stuff since I read all those books years ago

Alright, so I think I’m going to explain a bit about the stat changes for kits, apprentices, & warriors.

Kits - kits stats are varied because they are more focused on social skills rather than hunting or fighting. They will gain physical stats, but it will vary greatly and only the social stats won’t be random.

Warriors - once you receive your warrior name (which is based entirely on your Battle & Hunt skill), you will not improve nearly as quickly as you did as an apprentice. At that point, you are an adult and have pretty grown as much as you can, so changes come very slowly & not every choice will have you gain stats. When you have an apprentice though, your Lead stat will start to rise more frequently, as well as if you are chosen to lead a patrol

Apprentice - while most of your changes are based entirely off your choices, behavior stats are somewhat dictated by your mentor (list of mentors below)

Thunderclan

  • Thornstem (TC Deputy) - stern, serious, more likely to become a serious loner within the clan due to mentors other duties
  • Stagfoot - friendly, fun, more likely to become playful, more thoughtful & quiet, & selfless
  • Featherfoot (TC Medicine Cat) - friendly, quiet, very conscious of how other cats are feeling mentally when recovering from sickness, more likely to gain intelligence, be kinder, and quieter

Shadowclan

  • Yarrowleaf (SC Medicine Cat) - quiet, thoughtful, stays by himself, more likely to be a loner, quiet, but less likely to become kind due to his abrasive attitude about how warriors complain when injured
  • Snowspot - eager, talkative, more likely to become talkative, social, and brave
  • Strikeheart - loyal, brave, more likely to become quiet, friendly, but also selfish due to his thinking that Shadowclan deserves the entire pine forest (instead of just most)

Riverclan

  • Streamstar - quiet, thoughtful, peaceful, more likely to become social, brave, & selfless
  • Minnowfreeze - talkative, very strong connection with Starclan, playful and loves spending time with her clanmates, more likely to become social, talkative, and gain a stronger connection with Starclan
  • Pikethorn - very stern, serious, sticks to the code like glue, more likely to become mean, serious, and a fighter

Windclan

  • Hailstar (if not his kit) - very quiet, a loner, peaceful, more likely to become serious, a loner, and brave
  • Quailspot (WC Medicine Cat) - very talkative & friendly, very smart, more likely to be talkative, gain intelligence, and gain lots of selflessness
  • Alderbreeze - very quiet, a loner, mean & loves to fight, more likely to become quiet, a loner, a fighter, but also likely to become a coward
  • Quietleaf - mute (no voice), peaceful, playful but a loner, more likely to become talkative, a loner, playful, & selfless

Skyclan

  • Frecklebunch - very talkative & friendly but a loner, more likely to be talkative, have a stron connection with Starclan, & be more social
  • Cherryleap - playful & excitable, brave, but kind of selfish, more likely to be playful & selfish, but more likely to be a fighter
  • Wolfstream - very serious & a bit of a coward, more likely to become a loner & serious
  • Sharptail - serious, peace loving, but mean and a coward, more likely to become kind & serious, with a surprisingly strong connection to Starclan

Skyclan & Windclan are not set in stone, I may edit this if any of those cats change

So I went through and made some edits to the character creation scene. That issue with Riverclan & Shadowclan kittypets/rogues has been fixed, stat changes are now finished, and I went though and did spelling & a few grammer checks.

Thunderclan is now getting a workover, including the last three stories being finished! Stat changes are being implemented, & will have a couple new future mate choices.

So except for editing, THUNDERCLAN KIT SCENE IS DONE!!! I do not plan on adding anymore, make anymore changes, add any stories, or expand on anything already done.

All 4 elders stories are done!
All stat changes have been added!
Spell checked every word (but did not get grammar done)!
I will upload the Thunderclan kit scene with the next update!

Up next: Either Shadowclan adjustments or more work on the Windclan kit scene (yes, this is not finished despite it taking forever, i’m just having a lot of trouble working on following Squirrelkit)

omg omg omg I’m so happy!
I finally figured out how to do custom names!!!
Now there’s an input_text choice to add in your own name!

Script-wise is reads: {na1}{na2}, which is then set for ${na}, but now I have to go through every…single…scene…& redo EVERY SINGLE TIME YOUR NAME IS MENTIONED!!! This will take me quite awhile, but I’m glad I figured this out now instead of when the game was finished.

Thunderclan kit scene (before the name change) has been uploaded, working on the name changes after i post this.

That’s great to hear!

May I ask, will default names still be a thing? As I grew to enjoy the randomizer

There are still the default names (like Leafkit, Crowkit, ect)

Yay about custom names i can do my oc dovekit/paw/song or something

Unfortunately the second part of the name won’t be an input, it’s pre-chosen name determined by your hunt vs battle skill, just like the preset names

However, I can add multiple name endings (including song)

Yeah i knew that but still shes has had a lot of suffixes before

So new changes!!!

  • Now you can choose your own name! You can input the first part, but the second is set to kit, paw, or a warrior name that will be picked according to your hunt vs battle skill!
  • Every clan now has the name choice!
  • Every clan’s warrior, leader, & medicine cat names have been fixed to include the new name changes!
  • Now you can change your mind when choosing to become a medicine cat apprentice! (for people who are new to warriors and don’t know about the rules for medicine cats this now gives them a chance to change their mind without restarting if they want to have a mate & kits)

Currently going through to find every scene to fix the (name) to (na), changes will be uploaded at a later date (this will unfortunately include the unfinished Windclan kit scene, but the game will break for Windclan kits if they try to play)

I have work most of next week (getting a lot of hours; good for my wallet, not so good for my game), so changes may not be uploaded until Wednesday at the earliest

So some updates! Nothing is uploaded yet, but that’s mainly because soooooo much has been changed that I will need to upload everything together. I’m sorry I’m posting so much, but since next week I only have 1 day off this is my main working time (6+ hours every day).
I will edit this specific post as needed, so keep an eye on it! The next actual post will be when I upload the files!

UPDATE & UPLOAD!!!

I know I wasn’t going to upload until I had at least finished the Windclan kit scene, but since I won’t be able to work for a few days I thought I would upload what I have

New:
Custom name maker! (input your identifying name, the second part is determined by your rank or hunt-vs-battle skill)
Thunderclan kit scene & apprenticeship start is entirely finished (outside of editing)! New stat changes & elder stories!
Shadowclan & Riverclan kit scenes finished except for elder stories! New stats!
Shadowclan & Riverclan apprentice start scenes finished! Stat changes!
All warrior names, medicine cat names, & leader names have been set!
New choice for apprentices: when choosing to become a medicine cat, the leader will remark on what is given up if you choose this path, you can now change your mind & train as a warrior anyway (this could earn you respect for thinking about following this path & depending on the clan it can earn you respect from a specific clanmate)
Thunderclan apprentices can now see the start of their very first day, but the only thing open is watching the deputy (your possible mentor) give out orders (& if he is your mentor you see yourself leaving the camp)
Allegiances is now set for up to 6 moons! See whose become an apprentice, a warrior, new kits & queens, & other changes in clans not your home

New scripted cats affected by your choices:

  • Eaglepatch will become the next Shadowclan medicine cat if you train as a warrior, or become a den-father if you train as a medicine cat.
  • Morningpaw becomes the Riverclan medicine cat if you train as a warrior, or becomes a den mother if you train as a medicine cat.
  • Foxkit becomes the medicine cat if you train as a warrior, or becomes a warrior if you train as a medicine cat.
  • Maplekit will become the Thunderclan medicine cat if you train as a warrior, or she dies during her apprenticeship if you train as a medicine cat
  • Mothkit becomes the Skyclan medicine cat if you become a warrior apprentice, or eventually becomes Mothstar if you train as a medicine cat
  • Spiderkit becomes Spiderstar if you become the Windclan medicine cat, or you can give up the deputy position to him if you’re both warriors (he is actually very kind about this)
  • Runningkit will threaten you if you are a warrior when you are offered the deputy position, or becomes Runningstar if you become a medicine cat

There is also a secret within Riverclan that will only be revealed of you travel to the mountains

Coming up:
Windclan kit scene
Windclan apprenticeship start scene
Skyclan kit scene
Skyclan apprenticeship start scene

So I’m sacrificing some sleep to get some work done lol

What’s new:

  • Deputy rank is being added
  • Deputy rank requirements (look below)
  • Stamina (now visible from 6 moons up)

Thunderclan Requirements:

  • Have at least one apprentice (first one is offered around 15 moons)
  • Be at least 30 moons old (so just under 3 years)
  • Have at least 75 reputation with Thunderclan
  • Have at least 50 relationship with the current leader & medicine cat (in this case Vinestar & Featherfoot)
  • Have at least 35 relationship with current deputy (in this case, Thornstem) If your relationship is below 35 but above 15, you still have a chance. If your relationship is below 15, you won’t be offered the position
  • Have at least 10 points in the Leadership skill (this is very easy to obtain however & should not prove a problem unless you have only had one apprentice & not trained them yourself, not led many patrols, or not taken part in important discussions with the senior warriors)

Shadowclan Requirements:

  • Have at least 75 reputation (if clanborn) or 85 reputation (if non-clanborn) with Shadowclan
  • Have at least one apprentice (first one is offered around 14-15 moons)
  • Be at least 25 moons old (just over 2 years)
  • Have at least 50 relationship with current leader & 65 with the current medicine cat (in this case, Adderstar & Yarrowleaf)
  • Have at least 30 relationship (if clanborn) or 45 relationship (if non-clanborn) with the current deputy (in this case, Ashfang)
  • Have at least 10 points in the Leadership skill (this is very easy to obtain however & should not prove a problem unless you have only had one apprentice & not trained them yourself, not led many patrols, or not taken part in important discussions with the senior warriors)
  • Must react certain way to specific clanmate when confronted (this is mainly for non-clanborn cats, if clanborn & have met all other requirements this won’t matter nearly as much)

Riverclan Requirements:

  • Have at least 60 reputation (if clanborn) or 65 reputation (if non-clanborn) with Riverclan
  • Have at least one apprentice (first one is offered around 15-16 moons)
  • Have at least 50 relationship (if clanborn) or 65 (if non-clanborn) with current leader (in this case, Streamstar) and at least 45 relationship with current medicine cat (in this case, Minnowfreeze
  • Be at least 35 moons (just before 3 years)
  • Have at least 40 relationship (if clanborn) or 60 relationship (if non-clanborn & kit of…) current deputy (in this case, Reedpounce)
  • Have at least 10 points in the Leadership skill (this is very easy to obtain however & should not prove a problem unless you have only had one apprentice & not trained them yourself, not led many patrols, or not taken part in important discussions with the senior warriors)
  • If clanborn: chance to become deputy increases if you do not reveal her secret (which is revealed to you if you are her kit & clanborn & you travel to the mountains)
  • If not clan-born, chance to become deputy increases if you have at least 2 deed points

Windclan Requirements:

  • Have at least 70 reputation with Windclan
  • Have at least one apprentice (first one comes becomes available around 16-17 moons)
  • Have at least 60 relationship with current leader & at least 45 relationship with current medicine cat (in this case, Hailstar & Quailspot)
  • Have at least 10 points in the Leadership skill (this is very easy to obtain however & should not prove a problem unless you have only had one apprentice & not trained them yourself, not led many patrols, or not taken part in important discussions with the senior warriors)
  • Chance to become deputy increases if trained as a Sky-Jumper
  • Be at least 23-24 moons (about 2 years)
  • Peace vs Fighter needs to be at least 70 Peace
  • React certain way to other potential Deputy when offered position

Skyclan Requirements:

  • Have at least 40 reputation (if clanborn) or 75 reputation (if non-clanborn) with Skyclan
  • Have at least one apprentice (first one is offered around 15-16 moons)
  • Have at least 60 reputation with the current leader & at least 40 reputation with the current medicine cat (in this case, Birchstar & Frecklebunch)
  • Have at least 10 points in the Leadership skill (this is very easy to obtain however & should not prove a problem unless you have only had one apprentice & not trained them yourself, not led many patrols, or not taken part in important discussions with the senior warriors)
  • Chance increases if dexterity is high (specific number will be selected when scenes are further along)
  • Climbing Skill must be at least 5
  • Honor must be over 50

Adding Clan Skills (listed below). Each clan already has their own special training techniques, but Clan Skills takes these skills even further. Shadowclan cats use the shadows, Riverclan swims, Skyclan uses tree-travel, Windclan has sky-leaps, and Thunderclan has unnaturally gifted leaders

  • Shadowclan - Shadow Sneak (all Shadowclan cats can use the shadows, but only cats who have mastered this skill use the shadows instinctively; it’s as easy as breathing & takes no conscious choices or reactions)
  • Thunderclan - Natural Leader (all Thunderclan cats have a bonus to Leading & charisma, but Natural Leaders are listened to without questioned, regardless of the outcome)
  • Riverclan - Current Riders (swimming comes easier than walking, gives a chance to bring in more prey when hunting & much easier to fight in water than other Riverclan cats)
  • Windclan - Sky Leaper (all Windclan cats know how to hunt hawks, but only Sky Leapers have the jump, power, and reach that rivals even the tribe; these cats are basically the equivalent of Cave-Guards and find it easy and effortless to bring down predator birds)
  • Skyclan - Tree-Travel (all Skyclan cats can travel through the trees for long distances, but Tree-Travel means you find it just as easy as walking on the forest floor and can move among the trees effortlessly; this gives a bonus to hunting & fighting)

Basically, once you have mastered the basic skill (tree hopping, hunting from the shadows, water movement, taking charge, & bird hunting), these skills can be used without using stamina (either completely or reducing the cost) or (in the case of Natural Leader) without making choices

Hi, I found two typos

that should be „you‘re“ and

this should be „your“

If you need help, I can do the coding for you. I’m a computerr scientist irl and choicescript is a really simple scripting language for me.

Or if you’d like to do the coding yourself and just ask “how do I do this?” in a message instead of posting in the forums every time, I could help with that too if you would like.

I’m super excited that someone is making a game based on my fave childhood series.

I can not begin to tell you how much respect I have for you, and your work ethic. You have been absolutely beasting this wip, and learning a lot as you go. I appreciate your consistent updates and willingness to take input and talk to your community. It gets me really excited for the eventual full release of this game. As a warriors fan I was hesitant at this project, but you’ve really slashed my doubt in two. Amazing job mate.

So while I have little moments to write, I’ve been adding in a randomizer for each clan to show if you can become deputy or not (when the game eventually gets to this point, it will be much different; more diverse, there may be changes made to the requirements (such as how high something needs to be), and the choices will really make you think about your cat)

I’m actually already done with all but Skyclans deputy randomizer, which I am doing now. I am off from work tomorrow, but while I will be writing, I also really need to RP with my Discord group (haven’t been able to in a few days & my former apprentice is mad at me I think XD).

& following in the fashion I tried with ADsL, if I get stuck on a part I will write the bare-bone version of another part within the game, & after I finish with the deputy randomizer I will work on Windclans kit scene, or could possible write the Medicine Cat Apprentice scene where you (as the apprentice) see the prophecy via Starclan.
For that specific scene, I will actually be bringing in important cats form the series that we knew to show you the prophecy (listed below)

  • Thunderclan - will be shown to you by Jayfeather & possibly Yellowfang
  • Shadowclan - will be shown to you by Shadowheart & Tawnypelt
  • Riverclan - will be shown to you by Mothwing & Mistystar
  • Windclan - will be shown to you by Barkface, Crowstar, or Tallstar
  • Skyclan - will be shown to you by Echosong & Leafstar

Edit: All the deputy randomizers are done & I still have an hour before I have to get ready for work! Here I come Windclan!

I kinda find it interesting Mothwing gets to be part of Star Clan despite the lack of belief in them. Also, I actually like Crowfeather so more reason to get excited for Wind Clan! Yeah!
