Plot holes as the story progresses I meant
I used Perpetua Titling MT as the font.
Well shit I didnt notice until that but Prologue is spelt wrong.
Oh my, I just noticed that too. Fixing it now!
I have a question is there a reason it’s genderlocked? Is there a possibility that there could be a girl masquerading as a male?
The reason it’s genderlocked right now is because I’m going by the old social customs and beliefs of the 19th century.
I have a female option coded in, but I won’t be using it until I finish the male storyline for the most part.
Ah, that makes sense and the female storyline sounds interesting
I am planning on allowing the female option to have a role in combat, though it will be almost drastically different than the male version, among other things.
That’s really good. Too many stories have a choice of gender just to pander to the social justice warriors, and not because it is meaningful to the plot.
Im not going to lie it would be nice but at the same time it wouldnt. Put it this way sabres of infinity and lords of aswik did just fine without the option. Then there is the golden eagle (which has been post poned due to work being done on the second in the aswik series) did and it is written nicely as well.
I know what you mean, but in the future, please do try to phrase this in less direct means. “It is nice to see unique gender story lines” would be both well said and helpful, and would get the same point across. The JW comment could be quite offensive to many people on the forums who believe very strongly in equality and its proportional representation (which is no crime).
Yes I should have been less aggressive in my comment. Sorry for that.
I don’t mind having a different experience for different genders, there is after all more discrimination for straight females than straight males.
That being said, combat probably wouldn’t be massively different arm strength difference is rather easily overcome for females just by training. I know quite a few girls who could bench press more than I can just because they actively workout and I don’t. Add in technique rather than just wildly swinging a pointy or sharp piece of metal and the difference gets even more minimal.
Of course, but what about men who do actively work out? When you’re a soldier, this is a necessity, so the difference is still present and it is a massive difference. When you take the average woman who doesn’t work out and the average man who doesn’t work out, the man is simply much stronger than the woman. This applies to women and men who do work out.
If you’ve ever had a woman try to hit you and also had a man try to hit you, you’d know the massive difference in strength. For me it was my mother trying to physically discipline me versus my dad. As a kid (age 12), my mother’s hits wouldn’t hurt me at all no matter how much effort she put into it, and I’d just joke about it a second later. (It actually hurt my mother to hit me, so she very rarely ever did it). When my father, who is 12 years older than my mother, hit me, it actually hurt. (Both didn’t work out). All soldiers receive basic training so again this is invalid. Add to that the fact that men have much more power behind each attack, and have the endurance to fight for a longer period of time and again, there’s a massive difference in combat prowess.
This honestly just isn’t worth debating, because neither you or I are involved in the already solved debate my apologies for starting to go there. Besides, this answer feels like you’ve already said it before on a different account.
Have a good day.
Same to you. And yeah it does sound like that lol
What I meant by that was that due to the existing social roles in the society, women won’t have the same role in combat as the men. Earlier in the thread, roles such as medical doctor were suggested, though the female character fighting won’t be excluded at all.
All paths do not have to be the same to be well done. In fact, your making the paths different increases replayability for many people.
As long as both the male and female paths are equally interesting to play and have consequence, then I foresee you being fine.
Overall I am just happy you have expanded the scope of your project to include both paths.
Having them be different experiences will actually want me to play both now that I think about it. I love choice of games because I feel like I get extra story for every diverging path.
@Novus First off, congrats on the WiP! I for one, love the story so far, and for me, that outweighs any bugs or errors as long as you enjoy the game!
But I’m not sure if someone else already told you or something, but you should update the title to show that a demo was released, cause I had NO IDEA until someone else told me that it was live. Like either the release date or even just “RELEASED” lol. Anyways, great job, and I look forward to see more!
