Let’s gooooooo! I’ve sank my teeth and read the demo. Now’s the time to check out who suits my fancy, what power ups I can get, and what to take on first! Congratulations once again! Time to have fun taking apart this and tasting it slice by slice! And no, vampires are NOT edgy. It’s the media which keeps portaying them as edgy. I’m also expecting some humor thrown in for good measure!

Oh good, I Loved veil of darkness, I did not know that someone knows this Game.
I am still at the beginning of your Story, but I like it very much. The characters I have met were interesting.

I just scanned through the achievements and the references are fabulous. Great humor in this game so far. It’s been a while since I got sucked into a vampire story, but playing this has me remembering that time I left my window open for Lestat when I was a teenager.

How did you romance Kurt?? I’ve been trying all day!!
hmm, I mostly just kept interacting with him when the options came up, so I’m not sure what specific choices helped. I guess for reference, I was pretty set on being human again from the start, so I went to look for old friends and told them the truth. I ditched Alex and went to Kurt for protection and killed Bill alongside him, and from there later on when it asked if I was interested in Alex or Marky I said my heart belonged to Kurt, which is when the achievement popped.

I feel a bit weird offering feedback about page 1, of all things, but there is a bit of refining to word choice I’d like to recommend. You can dismiss it entirely, and that’ll be the end of it.
In the first line of the warning to readers who might be less comfy with the violence the line reads: “We understand that players–for whatever reason–may not feel comfortable with such acts being described.”
I don’t know if anyone else sees it, but the thing that gives me pause is the word choice in “for whatever reason”, which is meant to be neutrally valued here, but kinda reads as dismissive while offering the warning such as it is. If it were instead worded “for various reasons” it would not only avoid that more negative reading, it would be a bit more inclusive in tone, like ‘this person for this reason, but that one for that’ and both are fine because those reasons are personal to them as individuals. Obviously the less kind read wasn’t the intention, but it did stick out as not nearly as neutral as intended because of the more typical usage of the phrase employed. It’s essentially always an eye rolling scoff where I’m from, so this is somewhat opinionated feedback.
Like I said at the top, though, it is fine to leave it; I was just a little caught off guard by the wording.

I’ve read through once and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love Nemo. More Nemo and his inexplicable hedgehog, please! The only criticism I will offer is that it’s not long enough. I want more! I would love an expansion of this universe.

@Savannah_Perkins - in Chapter 5, you need to split with Alex and go and find Kurt. That will then give you the opportunity to go to him for help later, which opens up the romance path too.

@LadyUmbreon89 I’m really sorry you read it that way. My intention was to try and be inclusive and non-judgmental, and absolutely not in any way negative. I’ll get that sorted, probably by removing the phrase entirely.
@Bridgetpearl I’m so glad! And I will admit it never felt short writing it (it’s about the size of American Gods) but there’s lots of places I could take a subsequent story. One of my quirkier ideas is to write an anthologised life of a vampire - using the present day as a framing tool, and then building up romance(s) across different vignettes throughout the centuries. There would be several ROs, and each chapter would have a modern-day framing of the narrative, but mainly focused on an episodic past adventure with one of the ROs.
So, Chapter 3, did your character go to Paris with RO X, pursue RO Y across the world to China, or end up returning to the US with RO Z… on board the Titanic.
It’d be HUGE. But it would be fun.

When i saw this thread in my email since i never checked here much and saw this game i was hesitant at first. I WAS NOT EXPECTING HOW AWESOME THE DEMO IS!

@Jay_TheArtist Thanks, that’s so kind of you. I hope you like the rest of the game just as much! The first three chapters were a little fiddly to get right (for a whole bunch of reasons, narratively and technically, not least learning how to write code/computer games) so I’m glad it paid off!!!
