Unsupervised - You were a sidekick. Now, you kick ass. (WIP)

I put more thought into these debates than I do with my plans for the future

Ngl I kinda wish we’d be a dozer hero. Maybe a fun spin off? It’d be so interesting especially if the power we get is randomized. Ppl might hate that but I think it’d be so fun and interesting.

This is a pretty classic superhero motivation. “With great power comes great responsibility”, etc.

It’s one thing to say “with great power comes great responsibility”, it’s another to say “with great power comes mandatory conscription into a superhero/supervillain team”

If I was born with a talent for basketball, it doesn’t mean I MUST apply for an NBA career.

I’m kind of curious to see how evil this game will allow me to be. I mean, we can already do a shitload of evil stuff, but I guess what I’m trying to say is that, I’m curious to see the evil endings and how they will affect the world in the game.

Flint’s just… uncompromising, for lack of a better word. They give off this attitude of, “you have powers, you have a duty to use them” regardless of your personal wants.

At the same time, it’s why they chew you out for killing. There are some elements of reason there, such as when they (rightfully) ask what makes you deserve to call yourself judge, jury, and executioner. However, their general attitude comes off as “I said it’s wrong, no questions” which gets a bit hollow when you’re dealing with a telepath endangering multiple civilians or a lunatic that tortured a teammate until she spilled secrets.

They rightfully snap if you kill Jackdaw, though. What I’m curious about is if it’s more “killing is bad!” Or an actually good argument of “he was already subdued and at your mercy. Killing him was just cold blooded murder.”

At the end of the day, a superpower is just something some people have that others don’t. It will naturally pit the haves against the have nots in some cases. Humans are just envious like that. I have no issue with them freaking out over killing. They just come off as someone who is trying to pick a career for you. They were unhappy with Lb focusing on his music, they were unhappy with Lilith making her videos and they are unhappy with you working for parents or trying anything else for that matter.

Flit doesn’t disapprove LB’s music career or Ghostling’s channel. Their mentors suddenly disappeared, maybe dead, their friends left, cut contact or too busy to talk to. Flit, facing with the fact that everyone seemingly abandoned their past and went on too easily, felt anger and wanted to restored the “good old days”

It’s natural for a teenager to feel that way when a major part of their life get changed too fast and too drastically, not because of a high-minded ideology, just natural emotions.

As for agent MC and Derek, PARENTS seems like a typical “shady government agency with controlling tendency” to the public, I wouldn’t blame anyone for reacting that way

Too bad. As far as I’m concerned, Flit can go flit themself. We will just have to agree to disagree LOL.

I get that part but Flit is still really pushy about being a superhero. Especially the part where they take Ghostling to the HQ and chew her out for not wanting to do her “duty”. Regardless of what they feel, it’s still pretty disrespectful.

As I said, natural emotion of a teenager, especially toward another teenager, neither of them were willing to backdown

I could also imagine some shade of “you were trained for that, are you letting all that effort go to waste?” but maybe that’s just me.

I feel like there’s a very big difference in demanding everyone with a firearm to defend their country and people that awakened one day and found out that they could level a city with a single stomp.
I agree with Flit that if you have the capabilities to stop others (specially in that scope) from injuring or even killing innocents, you should to the best of your abilities. Reverting back to normal jobs when there could be an insane psychopath that can control minds is highly irresponsible and selfish and any deaths or injured will be on your hands.

No, it won’t be on your hands unless you have savior complex. It’s like every retired cop is guilty because they don’t fight against crime anymore.

That’s kinda like saying that a pro athlete or a master martial artist has an obligation to dedicate themselves to protecting others. Sure they are more capable than the average person but they are still free to do what they want in life and hardly anyone faults them for that. I’d say the only obligation anyone would have would be if they are right at the middle of a situation that they can stop. For example if you see someone getting assaulted and you’re capable of stopping that, then you should or at the very least report it to the authorities (Flit, LB, and MC already did this at the start so that obligation was already fulfilled). It’s essentially dumping all the blame on someone for a responsibility they never took up in the first place because of something they were born with.

Even when I play a full on hero that’s good through and through I don’t want flit as leader. Rn it kinda has them taking a leadership role and nope nope, you can be apart of MY team but I won’t be apart of your team.

Idk yet. I havent went back when Thelma appears to met her still. I can later.

Nothing wrong with having a savior complex, specially if you have the means to help. Also the retired cop thing doesn’t stick: a better analogy would be if all the captains of the police force had to step away from finishing training rookie cops bc an all end threat is compromising the world. Being a sidekick is all about learning to be a hero and in this case you (if you dont have that moral compass) at least owe it to the people that left that you will continue their work.

Well guess we have different perspectives on responsibility. Ig I just couldn’t live with myself if I somehow had the power to be saving people and was ignoring that for the sake of my career, friends etc
