Unsupervised - You were a sidekick. Now, you kick ass. (WIP)

Flit is a wacko who made me realize how much I hate hypocrites. If I was the mc I would be a villain just to spite Flit.

I believe there is a huge difference between being responsible with powers and just doing what Flit does which is being judgmental and acting like he is the one in the right when it comes to the mc and Ghostling and in the case for LB as well. Flit acts like he has to have everyone on the team to complete his whole crusade when he honestly doesn’t sure in an ideal world his friends would help but my mc and Ghostling were technically pressured into it because of Flit being the hypocritical brainwashed person that he is.

I mean he objectively is tho. You can be best buddies with me but you bet your ass that if i see you killing a reporter in cold blood yea im calling the cops on ya lol so i dont see any hypocrisy at all

Not referring to that route whatsoever rlly. Think of it like this the rest of the team already did their due diligence as heroes and more than likely don’t want to be pulled back into that life from what I can tell of Ghostling and LB both got their own lives now same for mc but Flit is too stuck in the past and wants to bring that back when it may not have been as great as he thinks it was to the others, tell me would you want to be pressured to return to a job you got out of? Especially if you saw how deadly it was… I think not.

1: I can taste most foods and tell you its ingredients. Not as good as my dad nor those vampire ROs in other book. I have to cook to my own tastes. Most love my cooking so far. I dont share it and pointless for governments. Lots of other powers are as useless to note.

If i had useful ones, Government would take away freedom at that point. So, NO, to listings. Interferes with individual freedoms.

2: Joker and others proven they deserve death penalties right away. They don’t change. Anyone else that gets arrested/kills/arrested/kills should stop getting more chances. System that makes money off of numbers love repeat offenders.

I dont mind everyone i crossed so far.

Most of Flit’s hypocrisy is about their double standards with the MC. Flit says murder is wrong and is quick to chew out the MC for it but when Ghostling, Nora, and Derek murder people, they don’t call them out on it. They get mad when MC and Derek lie but they’ve been lying about Derek’s secret mission to the rest of the group. Then there’s how they say they respect the others’ decisions to leave superheroing behind but still try to drag them back to it.

They’re justified in calling out an MC who commits crimes but they still act like a self-righteous hypocrite.

See that whole Flit respecting the others’ decisions to leave superheroing behind is a laugh because if they truly respected it they wouldn’t go out of their way to drag them back.

Fair Ig, I kinda just use a mutants type mentality whenever I think of a world with natural superpowers and the first thing that comes to mind is that comic of the kid who disintegrates everyone in like a mile radius of him.

Honestly that is one other thing I can get behind, it’s different from the everyone’s a hero argument cause these aren’t just normal supes they real threats (except Lil Biggie), outside of that theirs also the emotional aspect of not taking up the mantle of someone who’s basically your Godfather/mother but im African so imma be biased bout that

Thats a problem for an individual going through story in their run. Many viewpoints to try and cater towards with select few options.

If going villain route, it needs to be, right along with proper consequences. If leave heroism behind, then left at that point, if villain can only be taken down by you specifically. Eventually there is no ignoring a problem only you can solve, with consequences of many deaths to begun with. As the only one that can stop it due to, reasons, definitely responsible for deaths.

There is so much paths to generate. Authors gotta limit some definitely or their story never gets out.

Theoretically speaking LB’s power can be a big (( not intentional pun I assure you)) threat just think abt all the things someone who can shrink and get massive can do… the list is long but suffice to say his large form can easily crush people if he felt like it and if you haven’t seen the Antman Thanos memes of going tiny and exploding out from inside the purple man’s body then imagine how useful shrinking can be for say breaking into a bank safe.

Calling hero work a job is precisely why your argument doesn’t land imo. They aren’t just giving up some career choice that will only affect themselves and some people close to them. They had a duty to continue the work left by the mightiest heroes of all time and they chose to basically piss on it and do their own thing lol. I would def be as mad as Flit if people i thought were my best friends suddenly after those amazing people left (which obvs leaves a huge power vacuum so villains can fuck shit up) decided to close their eyes and turn away.
And also i def see why Flit wouldn’t respect them deep down cause i mean you either a superhero or not. U just don’t give up mid way lol

To be fair, not all sidekicks had a choice in joining and some of them did have to give up a major part of their lives for it. Ghostling described her experience as “low-key kidnapped” by Hauntress and then had to drop out of school to continue being a sidekick. MC with a bad relationship with their mentor was in a similar situation since they were never given a choice but to become a sidekick and had to give up their relationship with Blair. Leaving wasn’t an option for either of them because they needed someone to teach them how to control their powers.

Then there’s Thelma who was never a sidekick to begin with. She only joined sporadically on missions.

At the end of the day, the team members are still teenagers who had a job pushed on them. Some like Derek and Flit embrace it while LB is conflicted. It isn’t fair to treat them as if they made the commitment as an informed adult. They were barely starting puberty when they were thrust into superheroics so it makes sense why some of them would back out now that they’re older and have a better idea on what they want to do with their lives.

Funny how the “just teenagers” excuse can work on people like LB and Ghosty girl but Flit is deemed irredeemable bc of their “hypocrisy”. (People wanna kill them for Chirst’s sake lol)
In any case, it all depends on how your MC first reacts to superheroing so there’s no point arguing any longer
