very good i like the game so far =D
Hmm tho some more explaination on what some stats do (maybe a library or asking your instructors? back on the headquarters)

Hm, making clues discovered by random chance just doesn’t seem right to me. I don’t know, I think it’s because it wastes opportunities for possible skill checks, it doesn’t feel realistic, and it just makes the player feel like the competence of their protagonist just depends on random numbers.

The clue system is to add a random element to a case. Sometimes there won’t be any clues others will have more clues it will depend on the monsters.

There is a skill check in that bit (awareness when checking upstairs) however it doesn’t matter how good your player is if the monster leaves no/few clues there isn’t alot you can do.

@13ventrm

just reread your post and think I didn’t explain it well enough. The clue system isn’t related to the competence of the player but the actual monster you are hunting. Basically the higher the clue variable the more clues were left by the monster if the clue variable is 0 you don’t actually miss the clue it just wasn’t left by the monster.

For example one of the bodies you can find a tooth in a wound but if clue is 0 the monster didn’t lose the tooth.

Hopefully this makes more sense, sorry for the confusion.

Just started playing the game and found a small error when Case S is being described near the start.
“You was only eight when that happened, you are fifteen now and live with your aunt and uncle.” Should be were instead of was.
Only gotten there so far but I thought I’d point it out, so far it looks interesting.

Edit: Also in the martial arts class
“The group to your left are sparing with each other, they move with experience.” Should be sparring"." Should be sparring instead of sparing, and when you and the others are being taken to the SRT facility
“In all you there are twenty recruits including you.” Don’t need the first “you”.

There was also a grammar mistake of was/were for the instructor teaching meditation. Anyway, just played the game, think it’s great so far. Apart from the thing regarding your ‘partner’.
A guy who bullied you at school, apparently changed for the better, and now chums with - despite whatever choices you make. If the partner has to be that character, then I feel it’s best not offering the choices to reject him instead or else it doesn’t make too much sense. Just my opinion tho.

@GreenDragon

Thanks for pointing them out. Hope you enjoy the game.

@zero647

Thanks for pointing that out and I’m glad you’re enjoying the game so far.

In regards to the partner Craig/Alice are only your partner for that first mission, from episode 2 you will have a choice of other partners. I will see what I can do about becoming friends so easily.

Working on the end of case 1 now. Just trying to decide on the combat.

Currently testing out using rand to determine where you shoot (1=wide miss, 2=close miss, 3=graze 4=minor hit 5=chest 6=headshot) and then having the firearm stat regulate your chance (1=rand 1-6, 2=rand 2-6, 3=rand 3-6, 4=rand 4-6)

May do something similar for melee and unarmed combat.

Opinions on this would be appreciated!

error when you choose look around choice in the first case.

@djma46

Thanks fixed the error (had “living room” as a label which caused the error)

Update:

Almost at the end of the case [players can now fight the first monster] though at the moment there is basically one choice. I’m not writing anymore until I’m certain the conditions I’m setting work.

So if you spot any problems or errors let me know. I’m especially interested in how the current demo ends (there is two different endings)

Once I know the coding works I’ll refine and increase the fight scene.

Error occurs at “911”.

@Epicazeroth

Fixed the error [found I’d put ${partner) by mistake]

Found an error after choosing to shoot the zombie in the head: line 1884: non-existent variable ‘missing_child’

Something of a knit pick, but just how long did it take you to arrive at the warehouse? It’s hard to believe that they’d take so long to dispatch backup once they got the call that the murdered cops’ blood would have dried.

Also… I dunno… The game seems interesting, right now it kind of feels like none of the choices I make matter.

@aritour

Thanks for pointing that out.

@Shoelip

that’s not nit picking that is a valid statement regarding the blood.

About no choices matter is there any particular choice that stands out?

Well, after you get on site it doesn’t feel like any choices you make really matter. All those clues you either find, or don’t find, in the end you still end up finding the dead dog, then hearing about the dead cops, then seeing the zombie, and everyone knows you shoot zombies in the head… I guess I should have said that it felt like your choices once you get to the investigation site don’t matter.
