Don’t forget to smack Poseidon across the ocean!

#2024

I’m having flashbacks of On The Hunt/The Beast Within/etc/etc wip poll talks we had there lol.

I never say no to beating a god, let’s punch zeus while we are at it too, for the laughs and because he deserves it, not Hades though, he is a cool god.

#2025

Zeus never actualy did that much worst than any other gods, it’s Poseidon who was pretty much a serial rapist, Zeus was just a manwhore

#2026

As far as I remember zeus is the one who raped the most in greek mythology and he liked to do it in animal form too.

#2027

Good times, it was like a full-out war on that thread. A war that followed the Forum’s rules?

Hades is my favorite god next to Nyx. He’s literally the only chill god of the 12 olympians.

And Zeus? Well,

And apparently in the form of rain too. Think about this the next time it rains, maybe it’s just Zeus trying to swoon someone (-:

#2029

Damn it Fay I was totally ok not knowing that fact lol.

#2030

Nah, he just seduced them like that, the swan girl was really into swans apparently, it’s poseidon who was always said to rape, like he did with Medusa

#2031

Yes daddy! I mean what? :flushed:

#2032

So are we just gonna ignore what Zeus did to Persephone or :eyes:

#2033

They’re both rapists, Hades for all his infamy is the least worse from the three

#2034

Misstranslation of the texte, it wasn’t a rape and it refered to Hades, not Zeus, the titles can get confusing in that part of the mythologie, especialy when you start mixing Ovide, Homer and all those different ‘mythologic canon’

the TV tropes pages kinda explain it, even if some of the entry are not exactly accurate either

#2035

I mean…

Edit: Zeus tricked Persephone by disguising himself as Hades. She never consented to Zeus, she consented to Hades.

#2036

There’s still europa, callisto, antiope, etc, etc I’m sure there are others I don’t remember now and some I don’t know about.

#2037

Myths have different versions. In some versions Medusa wasn’t raped by Poseidon.

#2038

This screenshot pretty much name any conquest of Zeus as rape, even Leda with the whole swan thing, despite most version of the myth pretty directly saying he seduced them, so it’s not really accurate

that whole trick thing is a deformation of the myth based on the misstranslation i talked about earlier, it kinda fused with the arthurian myth afterward, in which the whole ‘i make myself look like your husband’ did happen

though i think Zeus did pull the husband thing with a mortal, not with Persephone, the myth counted that as seducing but that’s not really how we would consider it today but it could just be one of the modernisation of the myth (it’s relative when i say ‘modernisation’, the change could have happen like 2000 years ago, Sumerian myth are even worst in that aspect), it’s kinda hard to tell them appart, except when they do stuff like name Hera as Zeus’s only wife

#2039

Yeah I remember that the first version of the Medusa myth I read was that Poseidon was in love with her and said something like Medusa is more gorgeus than Athena and that piss her off so she cursed her so Poseidon would leave her and no one else would be able to look at her beauty without paying the price.

Then I readed the rape version and I was “wait wut? where is my wholesome romance with a tragic end?”

#2040

That’s not really a well spread version of the myth, that’s the problem with greek mythologie, lots of it was just spread by poete and noble family so it really depended on what got popular and what was advantagous for the nobles, that’s why Zeus got so many kids and conquest, so everyone could claim to descend from him

#2041

Yeah, translations can be tricky.

There is this one about the dragons where he put persephone to sleep and had his ways with her and Zagreus was born.

#2042

Aniway I feel like we are getting too off topic to the point even I realize it(when I usually need someone else to point it out for me to stop lol) we should end this zeus/Poseidon thing here.

And I’m sure we can all agree that most gods(specially greek ones) are little shits.
