The Wayhaven Chronicles General Discussion (SPOILER FREE FOR BOOK THREE!)

That does make sense, next book is gonna be crazy .

Out of interest; re A and their demisexuality…could someone point me to where that has been confirmed? It hasn’t been mentioned so far in the books (to my knowledge lol) I know they have a lot of traits and obviously are but I just wondered where it became canon from is all.

Do you think M becomes aromantic in the next book with the same announcement?

According to her, there is no aromatic route:

However, she constantly contradicts herself between the text and her asks, and she’s very negative about M all the time, so who the hell knows.

I just replayed B3 and honestly… i don’t know if I’ll have the patience to wait 3 to 5 years for B4… and I also don’t think i’ll be spending my money on it… like, Sera really needs to learn what the word “pacing” means, that’s my main issue with this series, I just can’t deal with this, at least with a rushed plot I would be getting what I want… this is just so slow and it pisses me off so fucking much, like the only thing I need is fucking character development and progression.
It makes me think 7 books is just… unecessary… if she could just let the story flow naturally and organically instead of dragging everything and writing filler scenes with irrelevant characters she won’t even bother to give detailled character arcs or a important role later on… if she just focused on developing the goddamn romance… we could have that ANGST FESTIVAL she always talks about in B5 to just end the series… plus she would finish writing those books so much faster… no long ass unecessary monologue to just make the book longer… no filler scenes… no bullshit plot devices for the sake of angst.
I’m sorry but i’m just TIRED, i dont give a fuck if the plot and characters are great (they are not)… if the pacing is shit, the whole thing will suck… and that’s what I’m seeing… Wayhaven not being a enjoyable story because of that HORRIBLE ASS PACING… is not just bad… IT DRAGS THE WHOLE FUCKING SERIES DOWN and it makes me wonder if Sera knows how tired/upset people are/will be getting if she keeps this up.
You can’t delay what the plot and the readers are asking for forever and hope that your audience’s interest level will stay the same.
It’s just so fucking stale, it goes nowhere… it’s predictable, you wait half a decade to see A’s character go back to B1, to see M’s realization being pushed back instead of them having a cohesive character arc, to see F… be the same as always, their route just doesn’t progress… and to see N get creepier.

This is how i would write Book 3 (Sorry if it’s long).

Spoilers

PLOT.
FIRST HALF: Sure… we can have that same beggining, I do actually think it did a good job establishing the dangers of the Bounty on MC’s head + the random girl being kidnapped was a nice set up… but instead of doing those bullshit bakery scenes and letting the MC go to the station alone… lock that fucking LI to watch the MC 24/7 and make them stay with UB because of the Bounty instead of some random malfunction destroying their apartment like… BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR PLOT… B2 had a whole scene where the MC almost got kidnapped outside the warehouse and it was already established that after Murphy’s attack, everyone had their eyes on the MC’s blood.
In my opinion, the research/ combat should’ve been the scene we get after the MC finds that feather after investigating the first kidnapping, sure put some romance on that shit but establish what’s a annunaki.

Then we get to the blood drive… whit the trappers and Sin’s attack right after… he takes Douglas or Bobby with hin to warn everyone… we have a REAL FIGHT with him mopping the floor with the vamps and having his ass kicked by the MC… done… we established the MC’s blood abilities and how strong the annunaki is… also how he’s not kidding about his mission.

After that we get the meeting with the Chamber and FFS bring the LI to defend us, make those fucking morons suggest something useful to protect the MC and the victims… they send us on that mission, but instead of saving some random dyrad, dryad, whatever… we save Douglas/Bobby, and they reveal that Sin’s not the only one kidnapping people… show how traumatised they are to break the MC’s psyche… especially after the scene where they find out the people are getting taking to attract them.

SECOND HALF

TINA/VERDA: Sure we can get the dinner scenes with them… but make Sin take notice of how close to the MC they are… and when the dinner’s over… make him suddenly attack everyone… but since he doesn’t like that mission… instead he warns the MC and the LI about the auctioneer… and then he kidnaps Tina/Verda… breaking the MC even more.
After that, we finally meet Unit Victon to help UB cause it’s getting out of hand… all of them are sent on that second rescue mission to save Tina/Verda… we get the building crashing scene… and the MC fails to save them… the building falls down and they go catatonic.

CLIMAX +ENDING: Sure we get the MC super sad and desperate, them being locked while they’re healing, some romance in between, but since the MC is alone with their LI and everybody else is on patrol… Sin and the auctioneer suddenly attack them… and the LI ends up kidnapped to save the MC.

Then we get that undercover auction mission… the MC will save Tina/Verda and the LI… BIG ROMANTIC SCENE.

CHARACTER ARCS:
ADAM/AVA: For the first half… A will keep walking in circles with the MC… each romantic scene will make it more difficult for them to not admit their feelings… the MC will get tired… angry… sad… and A will notice that… and will be adviced not only by the UB bestie, but also by Rebecca who will say “stop playing mind games with my child, i won’t let you hurt them.”
The private conversation with Tina/Verda will also make them more aware about how much they’re hurting not only the MC, but themselves.
The car date will be MC’s last straw… they will snap at A and say how tired they are, how all of this angst pining is bullshit, and will say with all their might how they really feel about A. A will obviously deny their feelings… making the MC not talk to them up until the finale.
In the finale, they admit how much they care for the MC after sacrificing themselves and getting taken… the MC will put them against the wall… and A will realize that worse than admiting their feelings… is losing the MC forever… and they start dating.

NATE/NAT: At first… the MC won’t notice how sweet and clingy they’re becoming and how they avoid anything personal about themselves… the Sin fight will be the first time… they’ll try to force the MC to stay back and they’ll butt heads and not talk for some time.
They’ll solve their problems with them apologising for their overprotective and obssessive behaviour… but will still be cagey about their personal life.
After the MC is hospitalized… N will snap at them for sacrificing themselves… MC will say they did it for their friends… and N will say how MC’s more important… making the MC get so angry they’ll just tell N to get the fuck out of the room.
Outside the warehouse, N will be alone moping, will meet Sin and the auctioneer and will end up taken.
At the finale… N will be advised by the MC’s bestie and Rebecca about their behaviour… they’ll finally have their heart to heart… the MC will tell them they don’t want to be protected, they will tell N to trust their habilities an to let them protect the ones they love… they’ll say their relationship will only work if they trust each other and have each others back… N will end up crying after realizing their mistakes, will apologise to the MC and explain their past traumas making them the way they are… and then they finally rekindle their relationship with a sex scene.

FELIX/FARAH: First of all, toxic positivity, let’s give them a arc about how losing their home and mother made them like this and how this positive, sarcastic and teasing personality is a coping mechanism.
They’ll be too afraid to show their “dark side” to the MC and as the story goes… their happiness and teasing personality get more and more forced to the point of concerning the MC… they’ll keep saying everything’s fine until they end up pissing the MC off because there’s no love without trust and truth… they’ll end up butting heads.
After MC gets hospitalized… they cannot hold their feelings anymore and just… ends up falling apart telling how scared they are and how they don’t want to ruin their happiness being all sad and stuff… the MC will tell them they want to be with F’s everything… good or bad… rekidling their relationship… just for Sin to kidnap F.
At the finale… the bestie and Rebecca will talk with F about trust, saying that the MC will only love them fully if they share all of themselves… they’ll have their heart to heart and F will explain their past fully to the MC… leading to their sex scene, sealing their connection and having F getting their bubbly personality back for real.

MASON/MORGAN: Just… don’t make them a asshole… for the first half… make the MC be ok with their sexual relationship… with M getting more and more confused as time passes by… M will start to act strange towards the MC, pushing them away, refusing sex, not flirting anymore.
The Tina/Verda will be the turning point, Tina/Verda will basically tell M that they sould not pin their confusion on the MC cause they don’t deserve it… they will basically tell M to fuck off.
They will butt heads after MC is hospitalised, M will snap at them saying they shouldn’t risk themselves for others and to thing about themselves first, causing the MC to just vent about how M is dismissing their friends and how they don’t know why they’re acting like this, M will say they don’t know either and will storm out of the room… and then getting kidnapped by Sin.
After the rescue… M will talk with UB bestie and Rebecca about their feelings and will learn that it’s better to be honest with themselves… they’ll invite the MC to clean the crystal… they’ll get that whole scene… and M will realize that the tranquility and peace they feel when the MC’s around is because they love them… then they’ll tell the MC how sorry they are for their behaviour… how he never fell in love with no one, causing them to not know why they worry so much for the MC… they’ll end up fucking and M will tell the MC they’ll always protect the MC no matter the consequences.

TINA/VERDA: Basically… Tina will wake up about the dangers of the Supernatural World… and Verda will be rescued by the MC and Erick… learning that there are good supernaturals and that hiding and ignoring things won’t do shit.

REBECCA: Not being a Mary Sue, trying to reconnect with their child and having connversations with the LIs to make them not risk hurting her child and ruining their relationship.

DOUGLAS/BOBBY: Can stay the same with the choices we get.

Thank you for posting this, and your previous comment. Both were well-stated.

I’ll respond in greater depth later. My husband started his second LT game (he plays Morgan, Farah, and to LTs, with a male MC on one LT path and a female on the other) and he had a ton of comments so far. He hasn’t even made it to the date scene yet, only the UV scene at the Agency.

And found something weird–his MC avoided Vieno in b2, yet Vieno shows up in b3 and acts like he knows the MC. It’s really weird.

Since a five month old game still whinges about spoilers, everything is under the cut

I agree with this completely. The pacing is terrible, especially on the romances, which are supposed to be the centerpiece of the entire series!

And the thing is, when things are so slow and no actual progress is made–sorry, but when you make progress that is immediately retconned or ignored at the start of the next installment, that’s not progress–other flaws become more glaring. A good example is something my husband stumbled upon tonight when we were playing in the car: Tina and Verda know the MC is living with UB in a house. Somewhere. In a small fucking town where everyone is nosy into everyone’s business. Now, if the Agency had built an actual house, fine. But, instead, they live underground like a bunch of goddammed morlocks. This was the first MC of his that got the “night out” scene, and he immediately pointed that out, as well as the fact that the only reason that they’re living underground and no one questions where they’re actually staying (they’re obviously around all the time, so they have to be living somewhere and there’s a nosy ass reporter/ex of the MC that is following the MC around, and we’re supposed to buy that Bobby hasn’t figured out that UB lives in the fenced area that’s all suspicious looking? It’s one of the many things in the series that makes no sense and is only there because of the “this would be cool!” factor. And it’d be easier to overlook the ever-growing stack of those things if we got some actual progress.

Speaking of filler and pacing, have you seen this week’s update?

The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 11/August/2023 - Seraphinite Games

There’s a lot more shifting of point of views in this book to really give the feel and depth that I want for this story

So I’m still figuring out which POV scenes to take out to help readjust that back to the MC’s focus.

It’s very difficult as the antagonist so badly wants to have not just the MC’s attention but apparently the player’s too, hehe!

These three blips are very telling to me. It sounds like b4 is going to be even more of a book than the other three. I mean, I know she’s really excited about b4 and the ball, but I’m not buying the game to read a bunch of crap from NPCs, I’m buying it to play the MC and affect their story.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re about to see some, if not all, of the romances stall big time. The blood temptation will be the excuse to keep the MC and RO apart so most of b4 will focus on other characters (Tina/Verda, Bobby/Douglas, whoever the hell this antagonist is that she’s already obsessed with, and probably Alima for the M-mancers, and probably Rebecca). Then we can have one or two “moments” with the LIs (probably more tween angst crap with pining and refusing to actually talk) sprinkled throughout until the ball happens.

In N’s case, stalling that romance may be a good thing. My husband’s fraidy cat LT-mancer (Fyre Shaft) is practically running from N every chance she gets. And it’s kind of funny, since the narrative tries to force her to be in love with N whether she likes it or not. She’s afraid he’s going to chain her up in a closet, so nope, not love.

On a good note, I finally got to see M do the interrogation. I never did finish with Jax (my incompetent, woman-child, F-mancer), who was sure to fail, but Fyre failed in a big way and M took over. I love that side of M. :smiling_imp: It was fun. “Now it’s my turn to try to make you talk, dipshit.” Right before he grabs said dipshit by the throat and drowns him in pheromones. Even my husband enjoyed that and thought it was great (his M-mancer, Daemon “Demon” Danger, failed to save the Dryad intentionally because he was pissed off that Nat didn’t take his side, so he botched the mission out of spite–that was kind of hilarious, too).

There are still a lot of bugs in the game, though. Bobby shows as a stranger in the stat screen when she should show as an ex, Fyre never met Vieno in b2 (she avoided him and left) but b3 forced her to run into him and act like they had spoken before, but then when Vieno was taken, she didn’t get the scene after the meltdown over “it’s all because of me, rheeee!” scene where she should’ve gone to check on him. I think the code is seriously fucked somewhere.

The other forum is locked and apparently this is a spoiler-free discussion? lmao

LMAO! It’s possible that Bobby knows where the MC lived at the time, as they followed us from somewhere. I assume it was near the warehouse or the forest, since there’s no indication that the MC drove anywhere. However, this is just an unsolicited counterargument and I’m not sure if it’s accurate or not.

He probably would if he could get away with it. I think I’ll enjoy their route because of their deranged behavior, but N seems to be the most unstable of the group. At first, they act controlling out of fear, then they ignore the argument altogether (if the option is chosen to not listen to them), and finally, they act overly positive towards us as if we can do no wrong if Unit V hates us, which is amusing.

Lucky M, I was hoping the MC could at least taze the trappers during the interrogation. It’s highly unfortunate that we can’t.

Do you think one of the major flaws of Book three was that we were given too much insight into the antagonist’s perspective, which ruined the suspense? In my opinion, Sera shouldn’t focus on writing the antagonist’s perspectives unless they involve torturing or murdering someone. It’s better to keep it vague. The scenes from Murphy’s point of view were well-written because they showed his greed, malicious instincts, and willingness to harm, use, and kill anyone who got in his way.

Yep. The purpose of that is all too obvious… so hiding details it is! Blurring annoys the hell out of me.

And, apparently, Bobby has been tailing the MC before they follow them into the forest. This is just another of those contrivances we’re supposed to ignore.

On N, A, and the LT

Definitely. I got bored with N’s route with my N-mancer, mainly because it started taking too much effort for her to ignore his weird flirting, the forced narrative of being in love with him already, and his sudden turn into sex maniac, but my husband’s female LT-mancer is making me enjoy the route. I suppose I’m enjoying it because it’s kind of hilarious to see her running to Adam at every turn (seriously, according to the plug-in that shows the stat changes, she’s at 17 romance with Adam and 5 with Nate!) while the narrative is pushing the idea that she’s in love with N and can’t resist him. She resists him just fine, when she’s allowed!

I will also say that A’s behavior in the LT makes a hell of a lot more sense than A’s behavior in their solo route. There’s reason for the pulling away and hot/cold behavior. Instead of it being A jerking the MC around because they’re sadistic, there’s valid reason for them to try to resist, considering their best friend of hundreds of years is in love with the MC and they want N to be happy. The self-sacrificing thing totally works for A, really, and fits their personality. Coming at it from the angle of N’s happiness being at stake, even bringing up A’s past in this context works–with them losing their entire family and feeling responsible for it due to selfish choices. It’s not too hard to draw a parallel to that loss, in the LT. A chose to do something because that’s what they wanted and then their ego got the better of them, so what if something similar happens with the MC and N? What if A chooses to fight for the MC and it results in the MC or N being hurt or killed? What if the entirety of UB (A’s family) suffers because of A’s choice to go after what they want again?

The irony is that, like F told A, it’s hurting everyone involved for A not to go for it with the MC, to throw their hat in the ring and have all three involved parties act like adults and talk it out. This especially works for the LT-mancers who have not had sex with N yet and aren’t dating them, because no lines have been crossed.

If it wasn’t so dragged out, it would really make for a more interesting story, especially if it was resolved by the end of b3–or, at the absolute latest gets resolved by the end of b4–since the fallout must be dealt with. Mishka has repeatedly said that A and N will still be besties, even after the LT is resolved, but if it’s resolved too late, it’s going to be rushed into, “sure I forgive everyone, blah blah blah, we’re family!” If it’s resolved sooner, then you have A, N, and the MC trying to rebuild what got broken by the LT and the “loser” in the LT trying to deal with their feelings about it. By default, this would bleed over to the rest of the team and leave M and F between a rock and a hard place, trying to help keep things normal (I’d love M’s input on this one: “MC made their choice, go get laid and you’ll feel better.”).

The problem is that all of this falls flat on A’s solo route. The torment of A being in love with the same person as their bff is gone, and you just have A coming off like a 900-year-old angsty tween. Using the lost family members makes no sense when they’re attached to UB–A’s family now–and A being with the MC isn’t a threat to that. Instead, the MC’s humanity is the problem, since they can be killed at any time and taken from A. But then we have A seemingly against the MC becoming a vampire/supernatural. It makes no sense. Solo A needed a completely different approach to make it work better. And it needed to be resolved much faster than it apparently will be.

Anyway…

Trapper interrogation

You and me both, but the MC is forced into being weak. Even my combat-oriented MC couldn’t physically threaten the asshole trapper. But I guess that’s what you get with a forced UwU MC.

Yes, without a doubt.

In B1, we saw bits and pieces from Murphy, but not enough to spoil anything. It helped that Murphy really did come off as a psycho, and his main goal was to get the MC to “change” them. Murphy was simple, really, so there wasn’t a need to show constant Murphy POVs, and there was no changing of purpose for him.

In b2, Falk worked, too. We saw a few POVs from him, enough to give us an idea of how his mind worked. And the fact that he and his people could give everyone magical leprosy was creepy and threatening, especially when we saw that he could still affect the MC during that fight in the apartment when he and his people hurt Bobby/Douglas. Again, Falk as an antagonist worked, because the premise was simple–his people’s purpose in life was to judge, no matter how screwed up their methods for deciding who should be punished and who was innocent. Falk’s purpose never changed, whether the MC got along with them or not. It was just a matter of whether the MC could reason with him or not. The Trappers threw a wrench in it, and that was one of those well-used wrenches, because it sowed doubt in a Falk who had started trusting the MC or ruined it completely if the MC used the volt on them. It wasn’t until the sewer rescue that everything went to hell, because that was one of the stupidest “plans” I’ve ever seen. It was all plot-driven bullshit to set up the choice between saving Sanja and saving the RO.

Then, there's b3.

We learned right off the bat that Sin wasn’t ‘bad’ and was being forced. The auctioneer was presented as a character so one-dimensional and shallow that the stupidest comic book villains you’ve ever seen look like Professor Moriarty in comparison. Worse, the auctioneer’s purpose seemed to change right near the end, from wanting to sell the MC’s blood to wanting them as… arm candy? They offer the MC the opportunity to be rich after kidnapping countless people, and say the MC will be a draw for supernaturals, blah blah blah. It was nonsensical.

If the auctioneer had been halfway intelligent, they would’ve nabbed the LI–we’re told by UV that everyone in the facility is talking about the MC and LI and want to know what’s going on, but the auctioneer grabs Elidor/Tapeesa/Vieno because the MC has a meal with them in the cafeteria?? Seriously? Everyone in the fucking facility knows about the connection between the MC and LI, so fucking use it.

You want an auctioneer that makes sense and forces the MC to obey them? Nab the LI, let the MC know and say if they want the LI not to be tortured 24/7, come to the forest and meet them. The MC shows up (and Bobby/Douglas/Rebecca follow, getting nabbed as well) and taken to the auctioneer, who takes them to the LI, who is screaming in pain and power-negated by some of the Trapper’s tech, and offers them an ultimatum: “Agree to let me use you as a blood bag indefinitely, and I can stop this. We can all be rich. You’re little vampire pet can be by your side”–the auctioneer smiles in a way that makes the MC’s skin crawl–“or you can be by mine and I’ll let LI go, and this stops. They stay collared to make sure they aren’t a threat and we can all be rich. Or, disagree, and we kill LI and take all of your blood and sell it. Take your pick.”

That would’ve shown the auctioneer to be intelligent and not playing around. But then you have the MC, LI, and Bobby/Douglas/Rebecca behind enemy lines, with the LI weakened to human level status. And they could find a way out together. Would’ve been epic.

Instead, the auctioneer is shallow and stupid, and completely unbelievable. And the entire b3 plot gets lost along the way because we see too much from the auctioneer along the way to even halfway believe they’re an evil villain. Plus, Sin shouldn’t have been revealed as being forced into the position so soon. For a series that drags the romances on indefinitely, forcing two of them to constantly take many steps backwards just to drag it on even longer, it completely blew its wad on the b3 villain, and its wad turned out to have no swimmers.

Speaking of Murphy, I was having a conversation with a friend about him. What, exactly, do you guys think he did to the MC? We know that vampires can drink vampire or supernatural blood, but it’s not as satisfying as human blood. So why replace half of the MC’s blood with vampire blood? How, exactly, does that make the MC’s blood even more effective in making supernaturals stronger when they drink it?

We’ve collectively wrote more words than the whole series will have griping about it lmfao

When will it be enough?

I say, never. We Shall Never Surrender.

I really enjoy coming here after a while and seeing like the full novellas you guys wrote

Until we have something new to gripe about, sure. But then we can bring up old gripes to support the new gripes.

I never really realized just how well done Murphy was as a villain until I compared him to the ridiculous auctioneer. And Falk wasn’t really a villain, just an old relic who didn’t realize his purpose was kind of screwed up. I liked Falk, and Sanja, mainly because I understood them. Hell, I even understood Murphy, crackpot that he was. The auctioneer? I can’t comprehend that level of stupidity, and all his actions did was prove the Agency to be just as stupid and incompetent.

Honestly I forgot who falk was for a minute

And murphy…at the time I remember not thinking much of him as a villain (wow a crazy guy with a lust for power I’ve never seen that before)

And then after the third book I remember thinking I might have been too harsh. Because he had a plan (a goofy one) but he planned and carried it out (depending on player choices) and even got away with it (depending on player choices)

The antagonists in 2 were very forgettable, especially if you just talk them down (speech 100 courier) and the villains in 3 weren’t even one dimensional like Murphy.

They were still just writing prompts that somehow never got fleshed out.

And were dumb. Murphy was a literal insane person and he shows better foresight, planning, and execution than a group said to rival (or even surpass judging by their success rate and ability to infiltrate government facilities) the supernatural feds.

Well doesn’t giving vampire blood to a human without fully draining them make them a ghoul?

And I assume Murphy had something special about his blood since he had been capturing and experimenting on everyone else with the gene the MC has. He probably unlocked something or just the continued consumption of the gene gave him magic blood.

Or perhaps he had the gene or something similar. Was he made a vampire or born one? Do they ever say?

And also, why didn’t the MC get ghoul powers and a discipline from Murphy’s bloodline?

I want my point in Potence or Celerity damnit

Wrong franchise.

Look further down

Obviously, I know that.

Yeah, I had really high hopes for the Trappers, but they’re a damned joke. They’re poorly fleshed out, and the ones shown in b3 are just laughable as villains. As for being able to infiltrate government facilities, I mean… the Agency is full of incompetent morons. Their 2nd-ranked team fails a lot, and supposedly has the second best success rate of any team.

Is this from Vampire the Masquerade? Never played that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Out of all the LI, N’s flirting makes me feel sick the most. It comes across as forced and fake, which isn’t helped by the fact that I know N is hiding behind a facade. It just seems so unnatural. Have you ever watched The Originals? N reminds me of Elijah Mikaelson, who portrays a noble front but is actually one of the most vicious vampires. He exudes a persona of structure and control, but that’s just because he’s controlling his true self. N makes me appreciate A’s stubborn personality because they don’t just automatically do what N wants. I have observed that M tends to resist N, but only when it concerns the MC’s lack of control. In some scenes, M provides the MC with the opportunity to take charge of decision-making by advocating for us. It’s ironic that someone who is typically domineering can also compel others to comply with their wishes.

I agree with you that A’s behavior makes more sense in the LT, but have you noticed that in the LT, both A’s and the MC’s focus is on how N feels about the decisions that they make regarding one another? We can’t even look at A without the MC feeling guilty, whether you’re in a relationship with N or not.

While looking for reviews of Wayhaven on various websites, including Amazon, Tumblr, Goodreads, etc., someone speculated on Tumblr that perhaps A’s solo path has romance-related trauma in addition to their family tragedy. They used the following remark from A, if A and N are BFFs, to support their argument: “But love…it is a vulnerability in my armor. I can’t let that happen. If someone were to identify that flaw and take advantage of it. I’ve already had that experience, you know.” That theory may or may not be true, but it would make more sense if A’s lover tragically passed away as a kind of retaliation against A.

I’ll link the full theory

According to a commentator, there’s also a Patreon writing that may support one of the theories on that link.

As for A throwing their hat in the ring, eh, it depends on how that plays out. What’s the arrangement after A is in the running? Do they both go on several dates and spend time with the MC individually without getting physical, and the MC chooses based on who they’re more emotionally connected to?

Exactly! If the LT doesn’t end until Book 6 or 7, how will the unchosen LI move on knowing their best friend is now in a relationship with the person they love? Will there be a significant time jump? It doesn’t make sense for A and N to have the same level of closeness if the MC has already been in a relationship and had sex with N. Will they immediately start dating A after breaking up with N? Will they jump right into physical intimacy with A? There simply isn’t enough time to fully explore a relationship with A in the LT, especially if they were with N before. From my perspective, the LT should conclude by the end of Book 4 as you’ve stated.

I didn’t get that reaction; to my recollection, A doesn’t seem to dislike being a vampire, so I’m assuming it has to do with the risk of turning into a vampire. Turning into a vampire is very reminiscent of the Teen Wolf werewolf bite; you may or may not survive. A probably just doesn’t want to risk the chance of the MC not surviving it.

In my opinion, it was worth letting Sanja die in my F-mancer’s game in order to add more depth to the story. I believe that if this were the default choice, it would make Book 2 even better. I’ve noticed that the more scenes you fail, the better options you receive. However, it doesn’t make sense for the LI to get hurt due to dangerous voltage. It would be better if it were DMB that took them down or a new poison against vampires was introduced instead.

One scene that took me out of Book 2 was when the trappers attacked us outside the agency. It didn’t seem necessary, and the fight scene was written strangely, with the trappers knocking themselves out by hitting a tree if you chose the deduction route. I found Falk’s POV and motivation to be consistent and done well, but they were a boring antagonist if everything went smoothly. In my opinion, they only become interesting when you fail at something that pertains to them.

Book 3

I was hoping for a scene where the protagonist’s blood was slowly drained while drifting in and out of consciousness. Alternatively, it would have been a great cliffhanger for the MC to be sold and lead into the next book.

Imagine if Sin captured the LI in front of the MC and Unit Bravo, Jeeper’s Creepers style. After beating the LI and tossing Unit Bravo aside, Sin grabs the LI, takes off, and vanishes with the LI as the MC screams, and then joins Unit Bravo’s pursuit on foot until they’re no longer able to see them in the air.

The LI is intended to be captured or held captive in a different book, that’s why I assume they weren’t used in this manner. Whatever the justification, I think your suggestions are a great alternative and quite close to what I wanted and expected from this book.

I completely agree, and Sin himself shouldn’t have been aware that he was being forced into obeying the auctioneer; he should’ve been happy to please his master and furious at the detective and Unit Bravo for interfering until their control over him was broken.

Vampire blood, according to my theory, possesses magical qualities that, when mixed with the MC’s unique blood, provide them additional magical defenses against supernatural beings and their powers. The MC’s blood is distinctive for a reason; it’s part of how humans have evolved naturally to provide them with a defense against supernatural beings who could try to use their powers against them. At least that’s what the story said in Book One.

Murphy is a natural vampire because he is capable of making thralls, which only natural vampires can do, according to one of Sera’s Tumblr posts. Natural Vampire
