I don’t think your detective can be a criminal, but they can be: grumpy, closed off, bad ass, stoic. Just not a criminal lol. Especially since the police force and the agency is totally opposed to that.
The more I read that the more questions I have.
The part where spunkycat says “how can you make me choose between this and that”, might it be a split scene already? Like the one about going to the bar or staying in the office?

One of character background is criminal before entering the police you have two choices Police or jail. Also you coul choose being corrupted, as you like being police officer due favors and influence

Hm, I never saw that as a choice…Or maybe I don’t remember? I’m pretty sure you’re getting it mixed up with the choice about "having a mischievous/troublesome childhood (teenager).
I guess you could be somewhat corrupt on your reasons for being a police officer, but really its more you became one for certain reasons either: that benefit you, to keep people safe, or just because its a simple job and you could care less. Again, it still doesn’t give you the choice of being a criminal. Either way wayhaven is a very quiet town, If you were a criminal the worse you would probably do is steal some candy without getting caught or something minor like that.

No, the choice of “I had a rather… Rebellious youth” is followed with something like “it was either jail time or joining the police force”.
As to be fully a corrupted cop now, I’m not so sure about that.

Thank you for clarifying! It’s not that your comments are taken literally, it’s more that they can come off quite aggressive, I suppose. Learning text-speak is an entire thing in itself, especially in another language. Tone isn’t translated easily, which is where emojis or gifs can be helpful.

okay believe it or not, my Detective was originally going to be…well, except for the kung-fu, my original Detective was actually going to be like yours because I was getting serious noir vibes off the demo of the game.
She was going to be a stoic badass who was a troublemaking teenager who didn’t care for anyone except herself as a result of her neglectful childhood, but then Nate kinda flipped the script on me by being tall and nice and handsome and tall and nice.
I’m really not that good at being mean in video games, it hurts my irl heart, so I had so much trouble picking the more selfish or less genuine options because I was already head over heels for Nate.
And then I just found myself enjoying the dynamics and goodie-goodie romancing Ava and Morgan better than someone who was of a similar personality, so I just…stuck with Charlotte, the hyperactive accident-prone detective who has more than once run into to traffic to pet a dog or cat across the street.
But, if you wanna hear me talk about morally grey and self-serving characters, then maybe we should head over to the Fallen Hero thread, because that character, ooooooh boy my Sidestep is everything Charlotte is not and I love it.
I do really like making questionable characters, but I just don’t do it for Wayhaven really. It’s too relaxing to play nice-nice and get nice responses in return, lol.

My problem is I am bold and very straightforward in common speaking. My tone is friendly but in Internet there is no tone, or visual clues. And I am terribly choosing emojis… So most people here has used to understand that my text are not aggressive ecen if could be taken as that.
I was far far worse years ago… This is the political correctness Mara no even joking.

Nate: We can split up into two groups. Adam and I will investigate the side of the carnival with rollercoasters and all the dangerous rides, and F and the Detective will go with the gentle rides.
Felix: Booooo.
Charlotte: I can handle investigating the rollercoasters, I swear! I’m even willing to go on them more than once to make sure everything is up to code!!
Adam: Three people have gone missing in this park and you want to ride the rollercoasters here?
Charlotte: …for science?
Mason: Yeah, anyway, I’m gonna stick with them and the quieter side of the carnival.
Adam: Brilliant. We’ll meet back here in a half hour.
[Adam and Nate leave]
Felix: We’re spending the next half hour riding rides, yeah?
Charlotte: Oh, definitely. To the teacups!!
Mason: [scoffs] Your funeral.
Carnival Worker: Excuse me, sir, you can’t smoke in here.
Mason: [already leaving] Sorry, can’t hear you over the sound of me riding rides where you can’t stop me!
And then Felix and Charlotte make Mason regret ever smoking in front of minors.

Shit! I thought I was the only one lmao! When I first played twc I was gonna have some macho, stoic detective who didn’t care about anyone but then I met Nat and Farah and I’m like I can’t act like an asshole to them when they’re so kind and nice and I-I love them. I ended up having 1 play though with a detective that’s more or so grumpy with N just because I love the image of N and a grumpy mc as a couple. And for F I have an mc that’s nerdy and sweet and they’re perfect for each other! For A I have a positive, but stubborn mc, and for M I have a shy pessimistic mc.
