I checked the code, because I was pretty sure M touches us, but I wasn’t completely sure about it.
"Shit!"
I don't have time to respond to the repeated cursing before ${m_she}
grabs my shoulders and presses me back into the doorway of a shop.
When I do find my voice I open my mouth, but all that comes out is a yell of pain.
Also, in the scene with the teenager mom, all of them have to touch her to use the pheromones.
actually, as i was just made aware of by @SomethingSome, M doesn’t touch Kate when using their pheromones on her.
Kate doesn’t respond, and I glance over my shoulder to watch as ${mason} leans further forward. “Mrs. Hayes, answer the questions. If you don’t, we can’t find who did this to your son.” There’s no gentleness behind ${m_his} words, just a blunt command.
“Ugh….” A sudden buzz itches inside my head, like a bee caught inside my skull. I rub my fingers to my temples, hoping to massage out the strange, sudden tension. But as soon as it’s there, it’s gone.
(the relevant quote)
The other three do touch her before/while using their pheromones, it’s just M (the odd one out as always when it comes to this kinda thing)
It seems like we are all right to a point. I think for normal vampires you need touch for it to work, except for M, the w̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶s̶o̶l̶d̶i̶e̶r strongest vampire.
I just got out of class to find the most glorious gift of all:
y’all talkin’ science 'bout my vampire boyfriends
it’s beautiful
Unfortunately I’ve still got to drive home, but know that I am reading everything and I will reply the moment I get home.
also @mewsly
we can’t imagine them in formal wear so soon! it’s too dangerous!
they’ll become too sexy and therefore powerful; we cannot hope to contain them then!
'sides, ya gotta work your way up from nothing lol
It’s more like biology than science science. Don’t expect us to theorize how to built a vampire lightsaber. Not because i’ve never seen Star Wars in my life. Never. I even made a reference. Hahaha…haha…ha…
The MC is injected with vampiric blood, they don’t ingest it, so it’s possible something to do with the uptake method is affecting the behaviour of it? I’m sort of extrapolating on ideas that don’t have a ton of informational background behind them, so forgive me if I’m going completely off the deep end; it really is a subject I don’t know a ton about, so my theories are very much amateurish, at best.
That said, since UB’s blood is still doing its job, as evidenced by their bodily functions all continuing, it can’t be a situation where their function is fundamentally altered, or their bodily functions would start shutting down as blood stopped doing its job. I suppose that implies that changes would have to be structural in nature.
However, @Meira_Litch makes a good point: UB does age, just very slowly. Maybe it is a functional change, then, as well - but a functional enhancement? If vampiric blood is responsible for prolonging their lives, it could be that the extra workload, as it were, is extremely hard on the cells, which is what causes the breakdown Verda describes. If that’s the case, then maybe it is having an impact on MC’s health, but is also acting as its own counter-agent?
I’m probably just blowing smoke at this point, mind you, so please feel free to aggressively correct me!
Maybe the pheromones work better when touching (hence why F, whose pheromones are known to be weak, takes Kate’s hands and touches the detective when using their pheromones) but don’t actually need physical contact, since M can use them in the proximity of the intended target.
I don’t wanna be “that guy” but if you’re referring to the Patrol Scene F doesn’t touch the MC (but is probably thinking about it). That doesn’t really disprove your point, tho, sense they’re not trying to use them on the MC, just cover their scent.
