The Soul Stone War General Discussion Thread (Romance And Stones Guide on #6)

This was an absolutely amazing game. Thanks a lot for writing and putting so much effort into it!

Damn, that’s a great pitch if I ever saw one. I sure am on board. Good luck!

@Morgan_V Quick, curious question! In the game, you have us a vague idea of how tall the main ROs are by comparing it to how tall your character is, but how tall is Manerkol? I just want to know where my 5’4" character would stand next to him. :joy:

I’m always a bold flirt and I can’t stay away from morkai and yes I try and try but i fail each time…i have a hard time entering a relationship with him and Straasa. I can’t share

Mornie kinda reminds me of Junko from samurai of Hyuga ,if the author decides to make her an actual RO I am on board.
I will take a chaotic romance over a sweet one anytime.

Thank you for trying it out, @The_One! I really did my best with it :hugs: And @ruhenri I’m glad you think so :smirk: I was very proud of myself for that one  And thank you, I will need all the luck I can get!

@Grimeowlkin Manerkol is 6’1", so quite a bit taller than your MC :joy: They must look so cute together… LMAOOO

@Idon_t_havaname That’s totally valid  Poly is not for everyone, and the solo routes are just as extensive as the polys, so you can enjoy them without fear!

And to be honest, I doubt that I will ever make Mornie an RO. If she turns up again () and the MC is not romancing anyone else, I might make it an option to have a fling with her, but giving her a full-blown route is not in my current plans.

Oh good i thought I was missing out on content cause i tried to do a poly romance but couldn’t bring myself to do so

There are several parts but the one I remember the most is ‘wait for Strassa. He’s the one who is paying after all’ or something like that. I remember that in WIP but I didn’t see this scene in the release.

Is there anything we can do to persuade you otherwise?

I find her dominant predatory nature combined with blatant unabashed desire to be really refreshing and unique. She is just really really interesting and has a lot of potential as a character, beyond being just the hypersexual henchwoman in the first book. Definitely worth being a major player instead of a side character IMO. Of course I don’t know what you’re planning for the story moving forward, but I think there’s room for what seems to be a chaotic neutral character who will side with whoever gives her the best chance of survival, or, maybe whichever side lets her be with the MC more :kissing_closed_eyes: :eyes:

@lynossa Depending on how you deal with the bounty hunters in the beginning (talk to them and learn of Dorlas’ bounty or refuse to speak to them) Chapter 2 has two different branches. In one branch, the MC arrives late in Shar’s Port and is attacked by thieves. In the other branch, they arrive the next morning, and they meet Morkai and Straasa who think the MC is a beggar and offer them coin.

These scenarios have entirely different scenes with the boys, and the one you’re describing is when the MC refuses to talk to the bandits and gets a pouch of coin thrown at their head. So if you do that, you will get the “wait for Straasa” option. Nothing has been removed from the demo, there are simply more than one branches that you can explore.

@ZealousImagination Oh, I agree that her character has the potential for more, and that may indeed be coming in the future. But I do not plan on adding another romance to the game beyond perhaps casual flings. Things may, of course, change as I start writing, but I doubt they’ll change that much. I would caution not to get overly invested in her as an RO for your own good

:flushed: H-hello? Can you or anyone else give me tips or something to increase the relationship with Eledwen as soon as possible? What choices increase her relationship?

There is a full guide for all the romances on post #6 of this thread, just scroll up a bit

I’m not getting this scene  I’ve tried to chance the flirt option from shy to bold but still no luck… Which leaves me with only 4 points with Dae and I can’t start the Poly… I guess I should report this to CoG support?

Too late! I’m a Mornie-mancer now…

Hey! I’m starting to read this book and it has been good so far, congrats! There’s a thing I don’t understand though, What’s the difference between flirtmance and friendmance? Like, friendmance it’s about to be just friends or if you select those options you’re also trying to get in a romantic relationship with a RO? I want to romance the secret option but I also want to be friends with all of the RO’S… If I select friendmance options am I flirting with them? Or if it’s just about to be friends with them then why can’t I romance the secret option if I’m just trying to accomplish friendship? I’m sooo confused! Anyway, congrats for the release!

@Nael Ch4 has 3 different branches depending on whether you choose to stay outside the caves, go in because you’re not afraid of combat, or go in and stay close to the others. Each branch has completely different scenes. The example you’re giving me is from the combat branch, so if you chose something else in-game, this scene will not appear.

Daelynn has 3 interactions in Ch4, one on the boat, one as they leave the port to go to the cave, and then one after the cave. Then another one in ch5 in the campsite. And the final one is en route to the village where you get weapons. That’s 5 in total.

@Flinx Friendmance is different than simple friendship options. Friendmance is another romance mode where the MC feels attraction for the RO, but they do not really realize it. It’s the oblivious romance route. Friendship is just friendship, there are no romantic feelings involved. And flirtmance is the romance mode where the MC is aware of the attraction and flirts either shyly or boldy with the ROs.

An example:

The Differences

Shy flirt option: #Blush helplessly under his scrutiny.
Bold flirt option: #Stare right back and complete the look with a bold smile.
Friendmance: #Smile at him, trying to ignore the sudden tightening of my stomach.
Friendship: #Give him a wan, hopefully friendly smile.

You mustn’t mix friendmance with flirtmance if you want to pursue a romance with them, and if you’re after the secret RO, you musn’t do either flirtmance or friendmance with any of the others. Only the friend options.

@Morgan_V yeah, Mornie should be a fling for those who swing her way and I dread the day if she became a RO :fearful: :scream:. I hope in the next book, I get to brutally beat Mornie to pieces then burn her with Dorlas as a bonus :smiling_imp:. Who is the kind neighbor that helps the MC? I hope to get to meet the man someday

I just finished my first play-through and I am simultaneously disappointed and freaking thrilled. Disappointed because the more invested I got in the narrative and characters, the more I was hoping that this was gonna be a standalone book (what can I say, I’m greedy and impatient). I’m thrilled because I kind of bought this idly because I’ve been itching for more interactive fiction lately and I was pretty neutral but by the end of chapter three, you got me intrigued and I couldn’t just let it end there. By the last I was freaking all in. Holy cliffhanger.

I LOVE IT. Love the plot, love the characters, love the world you’ve set up. There are so many ways you can build up our characters personality that makes for the friendship/romance dynamics with our companions that freaking tick all my boxes. I also love when the hero has some type of history or bond (forced or otherwise) with the villain that makes things messy and complicated. And you gave us that too if we wanna explore it, so like a million kudos there .

I ended up doing the friendmance with Morkai, but I had one flirt point and I guess that was enough to lock me out of the full romance path. I’m gonna go back and fix that but I’m really looking forward to playing through the other paths too because I love literally everyone. Seriously, there was not one character I didn’t enjoy in one way or another.

Something to (maybe) take into consideration, but despite whether or not you can/choose defend yourself, those in your party persist that you cannot, or do not, know how to use your weapon(s) of choice. Personally, I feel this might read better if that were only the case should the player choose two or more of the non-fighting selections available for the scenes prior to meeting Daelynn. It’s all fine and well if they haven’t seen you in a fight, or don’t know what your capable of, but beyond that it’s kind of iffy- especially if you’ve just killed some Kobolds, only to have Morkai questioning your ability to use a sword when he’s just seen you with one.

That said, it does make for a good laugh if it’s just a bit of fun, for example: In the hotel, when Daelynn jokes about Morkai and the MC dueling for Straasa’s affections

Questions:

  1. In the Shadow’s End origin backstory, there are a pair of rings the scene is centered around- will these trinkets from the past be making a ‘reappearance’ of sorts in following TSSW stories?
