Lol. It would be my luck that I finally manage to woo the queen while trying to steal the princess’ heart. haha. I LOVE the update! simply amazing
bravo.
I wonder could we romance samodai or veneiah
yes but it’s not up yet, i love the argument they have if you summon them both. :-))
Although it’s not too clear to me why we summon Samodai storyline wise.
how far along are you to coding the jinni romances, i can help (romance scene conciare)
The overall correct name both singular and plural is Djinn (the D is silent.) But I assume this game is in line with the English mispronunciation. Highly enjoyable otherwise, though I am a bit confused as to the romance options
@MaddiMastermind Thanks!
@RoseQueenKamijo Thanks. Do you remember what the error was, and did it crash the game, forcing a restart? The romance options are a bit confusing; maybe too elaborate. Almost all the main players are romance options: Solomon, Namaah, and Makeda are in a triangle of their own of ties (which is mythologically correct, lol). To woo one, you have to be nice to the potential partner and avoid improving the relationship between Solomon and X. Benaiah is a solo option. Two jinn (and possibly a human thief) also will be romance options once I finish coding the section.
@Drazen, @RoseQueenKamijo Yes, it’s derived from the Arabic ginn (with singular ginni), which mean concealed. From this we get jinni, the English version genie, and the version made well-known by games like D&D, djinn.
The forum seems more stable now. Wonder if the host was having problems?
@RoseQueenKamijo Actually it’s not a mispronunciation: Jinni is a legitimate variation of Djinn.
There is an error message before beginning part 3.
@Stsword- I think I have a answer to your question. We summon Samodai to explain why he helped Vineah in her plans to poison Makeda.
i thought it was for that illuminate the queens god and make it divine bis or something of the sort
Oh Tenryu, would you care to explain what the various djinn titles mean? I went from aspect of the seventh wind to aspect of the sixth wind.
I look forward to the Ocean Queen as a RO.
I always thought of it as our symbol of rising fame in the Celestial Court, although I don’t know how the news gets there…
In the confrontation with Vineah, is it unavoidable that your existence will drop from Healthy to at least Blemished? I had 13 Akasha when facing her, and I had also mastered the 7th Art. With sufficient vanity, my opening move was to possess Vineah, which ended the battle immediately, yet afterwards it seems my Existence still dropped to Blemished.
As for my jinni, it would be Kymaris, the Subtle One. It is going to be a long post, so I apologize in advance.
I have tried all the backgrounds save the Fervent One, and the Subtle One is still the choice I enjoy and identify with the most. Kymaris has taken on his own life, and I am rather attached to my character. He is an interesting combination of contradictions. He has mastered the 3rd, 6th, and 7th Arts, though by the end of the 4th task, his avarice is at 72, while Treachery and Vanity are both above 80. As for Lust, Indulgence, Sloth, and Rage, they are in the lower 30’s save for Sloth which is at 38.
Despite his Treachery being so high, my jinni has done his best to strengthen the relationship between Namaah and Solomon. I would like to think it is his virtues of purity, temperance, diligence, and calm keeping his vices of treachery, vanity, and avarice in check. Other than the initial flattery of Benaiah, my jinni chose not to move any further in that direction, nor did he interact with Makeda until needing to speak with her about her poisoning. He reasons that such a relationship with a human would not work in the end, since one of the partners would be mortal.
As for his accomplishments, he met Qutub and spent a night asking riddles to help alleviate his burden and asked for mastery of the 3rd Art, in part to help decorate Qutub’s tomb and leave some entertainment for him. He also used his mastery of the 3rd Art to save the old woman’s husband on the Sabbat as a benign gesture. He successfully escaped Samodai via the 7th Art, freed the boy from Fasad’s possession, freed Diyya from the ring, used the Edict to save Makeda from the poisoning, retrieved Makeda’s throne in a night, and helped create the wisdom of Solomon. He is worried about Majah and knows he will have to deal with him once and for all before the year ends.
He has also gathered quite a few treasures, specifically 6 phials of incense, 1 silvery bezoar, and Asra, his dear hippogryph.
When needing to assume a human form in court, he favors the refined and resplendent silver-haired maiden. Right now, he is in the form of the fleet-footed leopard.
Vineah expressed her respect for Kymaris, since he outwitted her at her own game by turning her and Samodai against one another. Likewise, Kymaris respects her intellect and cunning and enjoys pitting his mind against hers. It is not surprising he is attracted to the queen of the maruts, jested with her about a knife in the back, and summoned her again unbound. He does intend to pursue a romance with her, hoping that since she sees him as a worthy opponent, she might also come to see him as a worthy consort. After all, he is a match for her in treachery and vanity and, with his mastery of the 3rd Art, can lavish her with comforts and luxuries and such other pleasures as she desires. When they return to the Celestial Court, he hopes to convince her to set aside any lingering ambitions for the throne, opting instead to offer that together they can be the ones the Padishah relies on, thus becoming the power behind the throne.
As for Samodai, Kymaris made certain not to summon him. Kymaris despises Samodai, viewing him as a crude, uncultured brute who knows nothing of finesse, subtlety, or intrigue.
@Blackheart, @Roslyn_samalt06 Yes, you can romance both. And yes, it’s progressing… but no deadline promises, lol. I’ve been working on the final side-quest.
@Roslyn_samalt06 They’re like water and fire…
@stsword, @Happy, @Roslyn_samalt06 Summoning Samodai is an indulgence of the jinni’s, but I should write that into the story.
@stsword, @Sarsmos They’re just things I came up with when overhauling the renown system. I’m not too enamoured with them. Feel free to suggest alternative titles, but see if you can avoid Lord/Lady, Duke/Duchess types - I was trying for non-gendered titles but there aren’t very many of those around. Might have to fall back to those later.
Jinn can pass between the worlds as they wish (using akasha). The mystic circle simply forces one to appear using their name.
@Gadriel I’ll check on the wound system with Vineah. If you win instantly, that shouldn’t happen. I’m really pleased to see how invested players are in their jinni. It means I’ve done something right with the game.
@Happy he doesn’t help to poison maikeda its so he tells how he tried to kill solomons bride to be
Huh, save the old woman’s husband on the sabbat? I never even encountered that scenario, how do you find it?
It’s a pity we can’t keep a roc as a pet. “That’s no mountain, that’s my pet bird.” I guess they just don’t imprint.
Oh tenryu something I’ve experimented with various masteries is that certain combinations so far are easier than others. I’ve had 4 masteries, 3 masteries, even only 2 masteries by the end of the game so far. I suggest making sure there’s plenty of opportunity to master them all in any order, I want to have a playthrough were I master all 7 just to see what you have happen at the end there.
I have a question, when one has more than one mastery, what is there position in the tribal structure of the djinni? For example in one playthrough I mastered the Edict first, then wind and shapeshifting. Which struck me as funny when I was calling out the leader of the ifrit and the marut for acting like children. Was my character a zar? A zar, marut, and ifrit a the same time? If the latter than it’s a shame I didn’t have an option to say “We don’t like it when mommy and daddy fight!”
As for other titles, well you might go something more direct perhaps? Perhaps my playthrough in which I mastered Flight, Wind, Possession, and Charm I might be Rayim, the Proud One, Master of the Four Magics? Or perhaps my playthrough in which I mastered shapeshifting, possession, and wind my character might be Rayim, the Proud One, of the Three Tribes?
Oh and NS, biblically, the arc of the covenant only killed people who touched who were jews from the wrong tribe, gentiles could touch it just fine, so the implication that if the MC saw the arc of the covenant that it would be like that ending from Indiana Jones is more pop culture than not.
Well unless the MC was in the form of vermin, because I understand angels would pop up to kill all vermin in the area around it. Yes, the arc of the covenant was the first bug zapper.
Actually that would be a funny scene, the MC sees the arc of the covenant, a fly comes in. A majestic angel then shows up and pulls out its flaming sword to smite the fly.
Comedy Gold.
LOL. Man, I was raised Christian, but when I pictured that I nearly choked on my Dr Pepper and couldn’t stop laughing for like a minute. Please include this!
Now you know why that bit of folklore stayed with me, Fantom, it’s just freaking hilarious.
