We haven’t even met this dude yet but I am fawning over him. Hey… Can we like… ride Chai when he’s a dragon. Would he even let us? Important question.

A very valid question. He’s not that comfortable with his dragon powers (the strength and the freeze breath and stuff) but shapeshifting and flying? He likes to show off when it comes to those. So the answer is, 100% yes. And he’ll either be so fast it’ll be hard to hold on, or too slow that it won’t feel much different from flying on a plane, depending on whether or not the mc is an adrenaline junkie.

The more angst the better. Besides, could a story with a sewage-drooling pale monster really be lighthearted? And I was totally creeped out by the fact that Geishehl followed us everywhere. What if MC went to use the bathroom?

I like how in the MC’s perspective Geishehl’s constant presence was calming and reassuring, but for the reader it was deeply uncomfortable. I love that. I love how MC describes Geishehl as a comforting figure, but the reader behind the screen knew something was wrong. They seemed like a chill person/thing, though. It felt so strange, because Geishehl was described as the most hideous thing I could imagine — pale skin, slitted eyes, yet they were kind. They warned us of danger, gave us their name, spoke to us in a pretty polite manner.

It just boggles my mind. I don’t know what to feel? Fear or friendship? I’m torn between those two emotions. Like yeah, they were pretty nice I guess. But also, they looked like a literal demon! And I just find it funny because MC thought of them as their guardian angel.

This made me laugh, not gonna lie. Don’t worry, Geishehl was very polite and stood outside the bathroom and waited for the MC to finish They did stay right outside the whole time, though, so still sort of weird. But they had a job to do!

Hello everyone! I’ve gathered quite a few suggestions for pets, namely:

Amarok

An Amarok , or Amaroq , is a gigantic wolf) in Inuit mythology, said to stalk and devour any person foolish enough to hunt alone at night. Unlike wolves who hunt in packs, amaroks hunt alone.

White Stag

There’s also the white stag, in looks it’s pretty much just what it’s name suggests, a white stag. The only reason it’s more outlandish than the amarok is because it’s actually magical. It’s said to be a messenger from the otherworld, so it might actually be more of a spirit. If you choose to use this one, assuming the mc’s newest companion isn’t around anymore, white stags are said to alert others to taboo so it might be capable of alerting players of danger.

Kirin

Then there’s the Kirin. You actually have a lot to work with here since it’s depicted in lots of different ways, so the appearance is mostly up to you. Full of scales, partially scaled, body of a deer, horse, or I think an ox? They’re typically furred in some places but I hear they’ve also had feathers. They usually have horns, but what type depends on you. Lately I think they’re depicted with unicorn horns though they have had dragonesque horns before too. It’s said they only punish the wicked, so if you still want to use the myth based personality it could still prove helpful to an mc that needs protection from dark forces.

This thing is basically the ultra chimera. It has the features of a bear, wolf, feral cat, boar, and reptile. Honestly can’t remember if I got it all because it was mixed with quite a bit more often than not though, people will depict it as a tamer version which is just a wolf with horns.

Tarasque

Then there’s the Tarasque. Kinda up there in the insane bordeline-nightmare territory. I’ve heard a lot about it being dragonesque but I’ve also heard reptilian. It has a turtle shell, it’s been said to have the face of a lion sometimes, and the body of an ox but this one also has a lot of leeway. Modern depictions typically give it a more monstrous appearance, but that’s really up to you.

Chimera

The Chimera (/kɪˈmɪərə/) or /kaɪˈmɪərə/, also Chimaera ( Chimæra ), Chímaira “she-goat”) according to Greek mythology, was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of more than one animal. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat protruding from its back, and a tail that might end with a snake’s head.

Dragons

Y’all know what a dragon is anyway, I’m not copy-pasting each diff myth about them

Pixiu

Pixiu (貔貅); píxiū ; P’i-hsiu ), is a Chinese mythical hybrid creature, commonly (but incorrectly) referred to in the West by the Greek word “chimera”, and considered a powerful protector of practitioners of Feng Shui. It resembles a strong, winged lion. Pixiu is an earth and sea variation, particularly an influential and auspicious creature for wealth. It is said to have a voracious appetite towards only gold, silver and jewels. Therefore, traditionally to the Chinese, Pixiu have always been regarded as auspicious creatures that possessed mystical powers capable of drawing Cai Qi (財氣 wealth) from all directions. Because of this, according to Chinese zodiac, it is especially helpful for those who are going through a bad year.

I will close suggestions around this time tomorrow since I’m about to write the part where the player picks their pet, so if you want to suggest more, please do! I’ll have a poll up for everyone to vote. You’ll be able to vote three!

The size won’t matter since they will be in another dimension/world when they’re not doing anything so they won’t be taking too much space in the suite! And they will start as babies.

Please remember the pets will have a chance to help you in some battles/give you advantages in some scenes. So pick ones that are both adorable and powerful. (Maybe put more importance on how cute they are though )

Well, the results are in!

DRAGONS won with a noticeable gap. It got 56 votes. Second came AMAROKwith 43.

As for the third one, I was monitoring it closely. It was a very close match between Chimera and White Stag, and CHIMERA won in the last few hours with 35! Just two votes more than White Stag.

I’ll write a few of those that didn’t win as the suitemates’ pets, white stag surely one of it. I will also now focus on writing the first draft of the story. I’ll try to post a progress update on Tumblr every week. Good news is Chapter One is about 60% polished. Bad news, who knows when I’ll get to finish the remaining 40%.

I also edited a bit of the prologue. Just a few things. I changed the options from second person to first person, and I cleaned up a bit of the stats page so it doesn’t throw an error (though it still isn’t the final stats page). I think I also added some page breaks and fixed some minor grammatical errors. Let me know if I missed anything!

EDIT: I also added a new book one specific synopsis in the about section! I thought the first synopsis was more about the journey throughout the whole series, and this one’s clearer. The wording on the second paragraph is still a bit off, so I won’t put it as the main synopsis just yet

I’m always open for suggestions, questions, and criticisms! Either here or on Tumblr.
