Year 16 stats.
@hustlertwo
I am wondering if the test scores are completely randomized and I think that is a glitch (I had 77 education and got a 910, then reloaded the stats screen and got the 1410). Like someone else said, I feel like it should be a stat check for Education.
Also, only 1410?
@Eric_Moser I will probably have a few weeks between when it’s finished and when I submit, but not too long; the feedback up to this point has left me feeling pretty solid about most of the early chapters, and it’s not a gameplay-intensive title. I’m hoping for mid-June to send it out and have a chance at a 2019 release, but there’s no guarantees. Almost certainly in the next month or two, though.
@Bugreporter Definitely not a lot of people going high Trad. I can understand it. At one time I was going to name those stats The Rod and Spoil the Child, back when I pondered more flowery stat names. I wonder if that would have impacted anything positively or negatively.
@Snowflower It’s not totally random. It’s not even as random as the driving test. There’s a testprep stat, which gets a bonus based on how much studying they did/you made them do for it. Then it has four potential circumstances that grant another +1 to that stat: high Ed, high Free (this would represent being not so stressed out for the test), high of the separate Grades stat (which will help determine which kids are valedictorians and whatnot), and I don’t remember offhand what the fourth thing was that could bump it up. High Child individuality, maybe? I felt like the game had been very much pro-Popularity and wanted to give those who went against the grain a boost for not having a social life as a distraction. Then there are three random sets based on whether that testprep is < 3, > 2 but < 5, or > 4. In the lowest one I think you can only get the low or medium score, and in the highest one I know you can’t get the bad score, only the medium or the high. The medium can be any of the three scores.
Everything from *label testtime (where it rolls the scores) until the *label 17end page break are on the same page, so when you go to the stats screen and then back to the game the code is read once more, starting off at the beginning of the page – and that includes rolling the SAT score.
I wouldn’t consider it that big of a glitch or bug (I purposely did something similar in my own WIP just so anyone who wanted to go out of their way to get excellent results could do so), but if you want the score to remain the same I’d move the roll before the envelope choice.

Bug found (Year 15, kid takes STEM, but chooses band)
Is there a variety of jobs, or just the pet-sitting business? Also, on an unrelated (and tiny) note, when [aname] gives you the coupon, do you think that it could also be to the Chinese restaurant?
75 education? Show me your secrets ●_●
My MC’s child is female but the text refers to her as “him”:
Elizabeth has been dominating school from the very beginning. That part is great, and fills your heart with warm, gooey feelings. The problem is that as time goes on and those progress reports keep coming back with excellent marks, Elizabeth starts to believe her own hype. Elizabeth becomes increasingly aware of her abilities, so that she gets cocky, even downright haughty. You point out to him that she should be cautious, as everyone needs a little support sometimes. But she is too sure of herself to listen.
Edit:
My stats:
I was doing a child actor playthrough, and when your child does the second part of the call back, it says they failed, but I’m pretty sure I had the stats, so I go to check my stats and go back and then it says the child got the part. So it’s doing the stat glitch there. It also does it when I had the child try out for a movie part, it said they failed, but checking the stats going back says that they succeed. Just wanted to let you know
It’s not a glitch, it’s what happens when an event is randomized. Obviously stats help up your chances, but most things are random and so going into the stats page essentially re-rolls the randomizer.
Pick every star option that raises education possible (ex. reading to your toddler, doing educational activities, doing cerebral extracurricular activities such as STEM, getting the glasses). This requires keeping your kid away from video games and steering them towards educational games, as well as getting the “New Kid” event in year 8. If you get the “Moonshot” achievement (putting your brainy kid with 5th graders and they thrive), you are right on track. Push on with the educational activities in year 10 (get the tutor), and finish the project with the kid in 11 (also do activity camp). Then make your kid argue their case for social media, and push for APs and demanding electives (also prepare them for high school with a bit more than minimum). Then you should have high education. Driver’s license does not effect this number, but the chill day activities can affect this (I have gotten 76 edu in the past with the escape room). Then push hard for SAT success. I hope this helps.
I think I will try to insert a page break for each SAT score option after the code but before the text revealing the results, see if that stops it. If it does I will expand that to all the other random spots. For now, let’s just think of that less as a bug and more as an exclusive feature for beta testers only.
Oh my god its so good! I want to watch my kid grow old and give me grandkids!
Will the SAT score actually matter for our kid getting into colleges in the next chapter or was it just filler.
I think I have an idea for a scene that can take place in year 17 for example if you’re very popular and your in one of the sports team you could become team captain, I know when I was in school the coaches let us vote for the three captains we wanted it’s mostly a popularity contest I know cause I convinced my friends to vote for me and it worked
The SAT score does seem to have an effect on the kid getting into colleges – in fact, this looks like one of the first major events that directly influences that. I think there will be scholarships/colleges based on the kid’s activities, though, so even if the kid gets a low score there’s still ways for them to get into the colleges.
Speaking of scholarships, @hustlertwo, do you know what other kinds there will be? Will it just be based on activity and money/whether the MC has a vice-present income?
Ahh thanks!
Arg, I’ve been super busy recently, too busy to play this yp :’( . Just popped in and seen how much progress you’ve made! . Think the last time I played it it was up to year 12, keep up the great work
.
Scholarships would be certain activities (not sure if it would be all of them or not), Vice President kid, high SAT, and valedictorian. If you don’t have those you will have to pay, and if you don’t have enough money they will have to work their way through school, with the possibility of dropping out due to the strain. Although staying in college is not guaranteed anyhow.

Student loans/FAFSA is not an option?
Many people do it. MC is also a single parent, meaning that they will almost certainly get aid. Plus, many highly-selective schools will subsidize tuition for students whose families make less than 100k/year (and even room and board; one of my classmates got into MIT, and MIT is paying for EVERYTHING), and valedictorian children would have a good shot at attending said schools.
