looks good, going to keep a eye on it , one little bug did show with vallens pov if you are the stoic type first its shows the real pov , than a pov i think if you more hostile to her

Definitely gonna keep my eye on this one. So far its great and seems like its got promise. Im a bit disappointed with how short the demo was (i wanted to keep reading), but youve got a great initial hook down to get readers invested.
I also usually dont like ROs pov but i think you handled it well here.

Besides that, Valen’s POV repeats itself and has been described as changing in content at the second repetition, with MC being described as quiet first and rude at the second. Beyond that, readers seem to like the use of POV. Thank you.
By the way, isn’t it paradoxical that the outcome of the MC and Draven duel would always result in a penalty for MC due to them transgressing a rule? If the penalty for transgressing one or the other is equivalent, then maybe the losses may be gauged as follows: By engaging in the duel, MC misses their necromancy class, which is fine if MC wasn’t interested in it; by abstaining, MC loses face, which is fine if MC considers themselves as faceless. This was fun.

Love the short demo I’m definitely going to follow it closely. I wasn’t expecting the magic duel to be as brutal as it was but I love it. Also for anyone interested these are the classes I went with and why zoology (the MC seems to enjoy animals more than people from the familiar introduction), alchemy (medicine?), Runes (I’m Norse pagan IRL and rune magic is really interesting to me)

I thought about adding that option but in the world of Blackwood, it’s like a binding thread. You can’t refuse a duel. It’s a magic thing that will be explained in the coming chapters.

So I want to know can we get another status in the future like combat or something like that because if the magic stick does not work then fisticuffs will work and is it like Harry potter the only efficient ways to cast magic is a magic wand or is there wandless magic and the can the MC learn how to do it

This is a fun start. Hope to see more.
Runes, divination and curses. I think those would seem to have the best chances for an MC that wants to break their curse on their own.
