No testing for me, thanks. I’d rather play the finished product when it comes out, unspoiled. Plus, it’d be unbearable not talking about all of the neat stuff that’d be on the game, I’m sure.
Also, my past experience with game testing is it makes the game start to feel like work.
While I like playing finished product…my experience with @Lucid’s other games make me 100% positive that I’m gonna end up playing LH3 to death. So beta testing is/should be fun
So…I’d love to beta test, if you need more. But I can also wait for the whole game if you don’t need any more.
(My area of expertise is grammar and sentence structure errors, as well as dialogue)
@Lucid - remember … the more female beta testers you have, the more popular the game is with the boys. Also, if both @Lizzy and I are beta testing, hilarity in the comments will ensue.
Every time Lucid posts an update on Lost Heir, I both get excited that the game is progressing and sad that it is still several months from release.
On the subject of beta testing, November/December is when I start to have more free time, so if you need someone, I can certainly try my best to help out.
I made an account and had my game running within seconds. It has a Private setting, so I can keep my beta restricted, as I like to do.
For those curious, here is how I run my Beta Tests:
It’s open to everyone. When Beta starts, I will post a thread in the forums asking people to email me. I’ll post a link here too, to get your attention. You email me, I email you the link to the game. You send all bugs/suggestions to the email. Once you join the beta, I hope that you continue to send me things as I refine/update the game.
It’s in waves. I’ll ask that only those with time to respond in the first few days request access. I’ll invite about 10 people. Once the bugs/suggestions stop coming and I’m caught up, I’ll invite more. This gives me fresh eyes, instead of 100 people spotting the same errors. I’ll continue doing this until everyone who wishes to help me has been invited.
I encourage people to play with a document open. A quoted piece of text around the error or place for suggestion helps me find it. I don’t like screenshots, forum mail or forum-use for bugs. Text sent to my email address is best.
I’ll update the files frequently, giving each a version number. Although this breaks any games running when I update, it’s best to be playing with the most recent files instead of reporting errors I have already fixed.
Once everyone who wishes to help has been invited and the feedback stops flowing, I’ll end the beta test, however long that takes.
That’s it! My best guess is that Beta is still a month away.
While we eagerly await, care to share what roles the three council men will play in the upcoming epic conclusion? Especially since the army will play a lesser role.
There are so many things to look forward to in the third installment. You’ve got the final battle with Zusak, the new ship leader character, upgraded prestige classes and so much more.
Also, I want the chance to formally ask Karla’s parents for her hand in marriage. Make it all official like. It seems like a sentiment she would appreciate.
Oh, and if we could do something for Elmville like help them out of the economic crisis with some Royal backing…
