Of course not!
You can also play as non-binary or a cis man/woman
If the choice comes up just avoid the options that are now marked with [you are a trans man/woman] and you will play as cis

I just finished the demo so how come the poll options look unfamiliar, did I miss something? BTW very awesome demo.
Quick question, how are the checks handled? Is there going to be a fail state or more or less you either fight and win, research and win, charisma and win etc?

Bas and Xiuying are the other two ROs (as of now) there is a small blip about them under the character section in the first post depending on a choice you make in chapter 2 you will meet one or the other first ^^
As for checks: There will be a fail state, though I don’t want to punish certain play styles either. Basically, you can win with any of those four stats as long as it exceeds a certain amount when you pick it.
For example: *if research >= 60 you win/ *if research < 60 you fail etc.

New sunday update
This week was more productive than I thought it would be.
I got a good head start on chapter 2, and I started to implement the archive. Once I upload chapter 2, you will be able to unlock codex entries throughout the story, either with a notification or not. Or you can choose just to have all of them unlocked from the beginning, in that case, there will be spoilers of course.
Also, in case you’ve missed it, I finished a character page for the ROs on tumblr and some of the other npcs you’ll meet in the game, there could be minor spoilers ^^ And you can still vote on the poll from last weeks update concerning the Bas/Xiuying branches in the sunday post above 
Other than that I have received so many sweet asks on tumblr over the week, and my heart is melting with joy <3
And it sucks that now is the moment that I have to announce that progress will slow down from Monday onwards. My university finally decided to start the semester with online classes, which means the time I have to work on TH:DE is cut even more.
I’m not sure when regular classes are going to start, the situation is bizarre after all, but I can only hope they won’t rush into things.
And with that, I hope all of you stay safe and healthy and still manage to enjoy the little things in this word. <3

Additional to my FAQ I now have an cheat info sheet on this google doc I will try and gather links to all kinds of info I dropped here or in on tumblr as well as reaction asks/snippets and everything else that comes up there.
It’s mainly for me to quickly find info again, but I gathered it might be useful for some of you as well

Anyone got any predictions for what Elian is.
Personally I’m guesing Strigoi but with the limited info on what he is that’s mostly just a shot in the dark.

Well I finished the demo and liked it very much. Not entirely sure where the main plot point is meant to be heading yet unless it’s to find evil demon and kill said demon 
. Too early to tell! Would this be a series or a standalone?

I hope plot-wise some things will get clearer in chapters 2 and 3, though I don’t necessarily want things to become too obvious of course x) leave a bit of mystery
It was planned as one book, but then it kind of blew up (as such things tend to do ^^’)
Right now, there are two books planned, though it could be that I have to split book two as well, or it might get too long. I will be able to say more about that when I get into detail planning of it ^^
Right now, the working title for book 2 is “The Hunt: Hunters Blood”

sunday update 26.04
This week there isn’t really anything to report from my side. Chapter two is coming along okay, everything considered. I’m getting a little bolder in coding, which means less to write, but also more room for errors; we will see if it’s worth it.
The second chapter will definitely be longer than chapter one is atm. The word count is currently over 8k, and I haven’t gotten even close to branching off to Bas/ Xiuying yet. But that’s to be expected. There are a lot of little variations of the same text because of choices made in ch1 and the weapon picking option I implemented now. So the average playthrough hasn’t gotten a lot of meat to it yet.
Speaking of the branches: I’m closing the poll today, and it looks like Bas’ branch gets written first ^^ looking at the asks of the last week it seems he already gauged some interest but no worries for those curious about Xiuying! I think she will be worth the wait ^^
