The Fernweh Saga (Scheduled Release: 5 January!) [Book One is 600k]

Aww that’s so cute.

Ooh. I can’t wait to see it. Fanny is one of my favorite MCs, and I’m glad to know she made an impression. I saw a couple things on Tumblr that made me think of her as well.

Yeah, about a month ago I think? I didn’t think anyone would notice since I never post anything, and I used a different username. I wanted to post moodboards or xharacter templates about my MCs, but im terrible with technology, and havnt figured it out yet. I’ll get there eventually.

Don’t worry about being away. Some people are going to a bit rude and impatient, but the majority of us understand that you’re a human being with a life beyond your story, and are perfectly willing to wait for you to finish it.

It’s good to talk with you again, @lo6otia :smiley_cat: I hope you’re doing well too! I’ve been busy working on a few things, though I hope to tease about what some of those ~things~ are after Friday. Thank you for your kind words about the story! Your eagerness to return to Fernweh makes me so happy; I’m very excited for Kassi and Joy to re-visit their hometown soon.

@Cat-Toes Oh, yes, Fanny made an impression on me! I found a lot of her reactions to be endearing, especially after you shared more about her with me. Tumblr is a great place for inspo posts.

I recognized your icon when I saw you in my activity. :rose: (It reminds me of Beauty and the Beast.) I don’t really use my dashboard, preferring to stick to working on my ask inbox, queueing things, and then watching my activity feed. No worries! Tumblr also has a tendency to update its interface at times, so it can take anyone some time to get the hang of it before they swap things around again.

I have some ideas for character edits for the Fernweh cast…

…But the edit layouts are so much prettier in my imagination. >.> The cropping, resizing, and recoloring take a lot of time/practice, which is why I’m in awe of people who use templates/psds for MCs.

One of my Tumblr mutuals semi-recently created an edit for her Returning Visitor and R; it must have taken her hours. She used little cat-shaped bullet points for R to reference their cat. I won’t link it directly, but there is a link to Fernweh MCs in my topmost post. Hers should be on top.

That’s reassuring to hear! I mentioned this earlier to Mark, but I do feel lucky with the readers I’ve interacted with so far because you all have been understanding, so thanks again. :green_heart:

It’s 6pm for me. :innocent:

Just what I need after work and dinner, but I might wait a little longer so it’s dark outside in my timezone for the creepiness.

Oh, midnight would be an awesome time, maybe. :skull: :black_cat:

Hi Everyone,

I’m thrilled to announce that the first book of The Fernweh Saga is not only finished, but also beta-tested and submitted to Hosted Games! :tada: Book One is 600,000 words in total.

A special thank you to my betas, who spent hours within Fernweh to test out the different paths and routes while also providing me with great feedback to incorporate and strengthen the book.

This project is deeply personal to me; it’s one of passion. Writing TFS when I did helped me keep busy and pour my energy/feelings into constructing a verse that used to only be a place my thoughts would drift to on occasion. It is more than that now… To see that many of you also enjoy it and are invested in its characters means so much.

Thank you for believing in the story! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Please find the link to the overhauled, 132k word demo in the topmost post!

Best wishes! :green_heart:

Some of the additional features of the overhauled demo include:
  • Tailor the Fernweh gang as you see fit! Their gender identities are now reader-selectable, which means many potential group combinations.
  • Track how your relationships are progressing with key characters. In-text descriptions now trigger along with the unlocked tier names, giving you new information and insight.
  • Better define your past during the journal portions while learning more about the cast.
  • Notice stat bar divisions and stat types that allude to what is to come in the series.
  • Experience polished writing, new gameplay mechanics, and some extra choices/scenes, but most importantly, have fun during your visit to Fernweh… It’s been waiting for you.:deer::evergreen_tree:

This is, admittedly, such a weird thing to throw one out of the story, but it is still confusing me so I have to ask - is deer/elk/moose/whatever evasion something that isn’t drilled into you in driving school in US? Because the MC at least seems to me like they have no idea what they’re doing. (In addition to apparently being dangerously close to losing the control of the car.) Or is the MC just a bad driver?

@Big_fan1231 and @RenataC Thank you both for the congrats! :smile_cat:

@LiliArch If the MC is a bad driver or not, will depend on how the player wants to headcanon their driving ability. At the time of the baby deer’s appearance, the MC has been driving for many hours so that may allow for some leeway in their driving ability because they could be tired. Pumping the brakes is likely the most road-wise choice, lol. Thank you for trying the game! :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations, Aelsa! I know I must sound like a broken record already, but I’m just so so so happy for you! You’ve worked so hard (and continue to work so hard), put so much of yourself into TFS, and have accomplished so much. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to you for sharing Fernweh with all of us. Thank you!
