The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - An affair of the heart (WIP) (Ch 6.1: 31 jan 2025)

That does sound weird. I’ll do a rerun to check if I misclicked the costume selection. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I personally prefer it when I can’t “do everything” in a single playthrough. When I have to set my priorities and carefully choose my actions (and therefore see different things each playthrough) I feel like my choices were more meaningful.

I think a good in between/alternative could be to pick your first dance partner, but then the next person you have the highest romance with will confront you later in private and you can choose to dance with them, or not after a dramatic/angsty scene

I want to be able to romance one person and do whatever needed for the ball. Though I figured it would mostly be waiting around for something to happen. Lol. So I guess number 3 option.

This is a good idea. I don’t know if it makes it easier for the author, but it might make the coding narrow down further if it starts to soft-lock in romances/jealousy triangles, rather than let us all run wild—which I totally would, by the way lol. And I doubt I’ll be the only one too.

The author made everybody way too interesting. I guess that’s what they mean when they say ‘suffering with success’.

I definitely would run wild if there is more than one Im interested in.

If I select them not to be women. Its easy to end up not thinking about them at all. Flip a switch in my head and the character as male, its auto no interest. Flip em back, I might be interested unless they so heavily flawed I can’t ignore it. Flaw as in way too toxic.

I fall for dommies to easily in several cases but, learned hardway, abusers are not the same as dommies.

Finally read Watson’s pov. They’re so precious, so sweet, so kind and caring :sob: I loved them before but now… now I adore them.

Anyway, great update. I noticed when picking the dress option and when in the carriage thinking about someone, you’re in a bit of a loop until you select a determined choice to exit it (for example you need to pick Mrs Hudson to have the option to have arrived), is that intentional?

I asked on patreon too, and made it a poll, and they overwhelmingly voted for “experience control” which was simply that you had time for everything and you can choose to end the choices early, ex, “I’ve done all I wish to tonight, and the hour is getting late.” Some votes also were given to the “compromise option”, which was that there are some mutually exclusive scenes rather than time management, so I might still do that if I find some more minor variation/stuff where that would make sense.

Actually, thinking about it, I realise there are already some scenes like that :face_with_monocle: How you first meet Adler, etc. And, of course, there’s some such variation in earlier set variables/choices.

Aww, I’m glad to hear it!
I don’t do RO POV a lot, but I’m trying to do it more
Yes—so the loop was intended, but I did think that it wasn’t the ideal solution while I was making it :joy: I suppose I could make it so you only have to talk to one of the people in the carriage
(The reason the “thinking about” thing is replayable is that it was the easiest solution. Because a choice thing has to always have a choice available, and if I wanted to do it otherwise, I would have to do some weird counter of “who can be thought of + who have you thought of → then lock out choice” and … a loop was quicker.)

Lestrade short story :sparkles: If Sherlock took to crime

Now posted on Patreon!

Y’all have been asking me, since the start of this whole project, “What if Sherlock took to crime and did so very well?”

What if Sherlock became the worst killer London had ever seen?

We all know they’d be capable of such a thing. Don’t we? :smiling_face_with_horns:

Remember this part from Chapter 5?

“We all expect great things the day you can’t find an excuse from your own company… There’s really only a few worthy ways this all ends. When the crime is too low, perhaps you can turn to making your own, really sink low and comfortable in the depths of depravity—"

A two-part, two-POVs, short story, with that final showdown between detective and inspector, now killer and once friend.

I had a lot of fun writing a new type of MC

I hope you enjoy it too!:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
