@LastLau Thank you so much for telling me! Hope you enjoy the game!
Also, there’s a comment on Google Play that says the game isn’t working and that the app is just blank. When I open it on my phone, everything is fine.
Do any of you experience a similar issue? It could be an outdated comment.
As a huge fan of both Lovecraftian fiction and Egyptian Mythology, this game seemed right up my alley, and boy was I right. That demo was equal parts alluring and unsettling. I will definitely be purchasing this and diving right in. Kudos to the author! You have great taste and style.
@Denzil_Melgior_Nagel I honestly don’t know. The Steam version is also ‘releasing soon,’ which likely means they’re doing the best they can, but it’s not possible or very difficult to release the game on all platforms at the same time.
I’m sorry I can’t give you better information, but authors aren’t really involved in what’s happening in terms of the actual publishing.
I believe a message will be sent out on the CoG Forum when the game is available on all platforms. I think it usually works that way.
As for the blank screen issue, my phone also went blank when I first opened the game, but things repaired themselves when i clicked on the stats menu.
@Vexius_Krexius Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! Also, I love this portrayal of Sekhmet. May she keep you safe and destroy those who stand in your way!
I don’t know what happened, but the current Google Play version is outdated. I edited all the chapters on Nov. 4 (the updates includes changes pointed out in the official review), but the current Google Play version uses older files.
It was probably just a mistake, but I still feel like I need to give you a trigger warning.
The old files make it possible for the MC to do something that will end up killing many people, including children. This last part was deleted from the final version, but still exists in the current one. Be careful!
@Vexius_Krexius They’re not drastically different. When it comes to the story, things are more or less the same. The epilogues, for example, haven’t even been touched. (They were rewritten months ago, during the closed beta.)
There were many small changes (over a hundred) that should make the game less confusing in terms of writing. Some words or passages may be a bit different. I also made a few changes to make the game more inclusive for non-binary people.
Also, the MC should no longer ‘go pale’ since their complexion is never specified.
No major changes have been made. Well, except that one thing I mentioned earlier.
That’s a relief to hear; sounds like it was majorly quality-of-life improvements, which is always nice.
I was simply worried the story was indeed different; glad to hear it’s not!
Also, yes, I actually think I caught the pale sentence. Was a tad frustrating as I was indeed role-playing an Egyptian native, even using one of the given names. Happy to hear it got polished good already! One of the many perks of having even just a few good testers. I wish I was here for this one. There’s so many great WiPs that come and go, here. A few slip by me every so often, new gems like this one. Better late than never, eh?
Cheers, mate! I look forward to your future works!
That’s exactly what this last update was. Well, that’s what it will be.
Sadly, I didn’t catch those ‘go pale’ moments, and they were only pointed out in the final review I got from Hosted Games. I should have been more careful, considering the setting, but it must have just slipped past me. Thankfully, this should no longer be an issue in the latest version.
As for my future works, I will very likely write another game set in ancient Egypt, but at the moment, I’m working on something different. It’s a modern fantasy project, but there are still Greek and Egyptian elements. I’ll even say that Sekhmet is important in one of the storylines. (One of the ROs can form a connection with her.)
I would like to publish a demo by the end of this month. I still have a few scenes to write, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. (I’m currently at about 43k words, and I need another 12k.)
@Denzil_Melgior_Nagel Thanks for telling us! Would you be able to take a screenshot of the page where you pick whether or not you want to be protected from death? I’d like to see if those files are updated, but I have an Android.
The game is also live on Steam!
Edit: The Steam version also uses old files.
@Frieza Yes, thank you! I’m still waiting for the reply from HG, but this tells me that the game files must be outdated on all platforms.
The latest version of this paragraph goes like this:
Before we start, Temple of Endless Night is a game in which you can die. Though death is only possible in chapters 1 and 2, it might influence your enjoyment of the game if you’re not into that kind of thing. While I strongly recommend that you play the game as originally intended, you may now choose to be protected from death. You’ll be given an Amulet of Protection that will save you from death and take you back to a previous choice.
@Dariel – going on past experience, HG usually submits coordinated updates for all platforms and this usually occurs after 9am Pacific Coast Time on the release date.
Since HG posted your release thread just this morning, I would not be too worried about the update.
I’m not staff, so I can only tell you what it has been like before.
I am sure someone will be contacting you soon and seek to answer your questions and concerns.
Congrats on the release; I was looking forward to this since you made the WiP thread.
