Hey, Hatoful Boyfriend the pigeon dating sim was all the rage a few years back. (You might want to try advertising to that community at some point too)
Why do i actually feel like i will have fun with birds…
Working on TC today as I await any news of bugs for the new CCH game. Has anyone died yet in TC? If you have, was it grizzly/sad/tragic enough? Would you want a longer death scene? Or was it about right? Or was it too much? I’m thinking about adding an option to let the player choose to either “cut to the chase and get it over with” or read every last word.
Thoughts?
Nope not yet
Did you play on Easy? Just curious.
Although I had his feather I couldn’t access that choice.Idk if it’s a bug or I was supposed to have smth else to access that choice
Nople, i played on regular difficulty
I once made my character die deliberately when facing the vultures. I don’t really have an opinion on the matter. If we have to watch our enemies die, then we might as well watch ourselves dying as well. Otherwise, I’ve always been of the opinion that, one can never go wrong with options.
@xei Yep that looks like a bug! Let me try to squish it.
@sasa_se Okay, good to know. Let’s see if you survive the last, and toughest, showdown!
@Denzil Yeah I’m inclined to leave in the death scenes, but I might add a choice for particularly squeamish players to bypass it. Of course I don’t think particularly squeamish folks will be playing this game anyway.
You underestimate my powerrrr
Just a quick update. I am limiting my time on the forums/social media for a while to minimize distractions, but I’m working toward finishing this project soon. Chapter 12 (7k words thus far) is almost finished. My outline has expanded, and so I think the story will require a 15th chapter to do it service.
I will report back when it’s ready for some beta testing.
Oh, and Talon City has scored a November Steam release date (I had to swap it in for CCH3, which won’t be ready). I am thrilled with this, and I will have plenty of time this spring to tweak as much as I need to based on beta test feedback.
Oh boy, new chapter is such a roller coaser of emotions. I’ve suspected from the start but you REALLY went this way, huh? Also noting Concordia is cute… does that mean we’ll get Conc relationship if we didnt pick romance with Avy?
I’ve been quiet about updates and I’ve avoided posting to give myself more time and mental energy for the writing itself, but I’m glad you liked the new content! Regarding your relationship question, it hinges on audience reaction to the story. If TC sells at least at an “okay” level, I can see continuing the story into a series with potential for more exploration of relationships. But if it doesn’t do well, I will be content with TC being a one off. This plot is necessarily tight to maintain the sense of urgency, but if I continued it into a series there would be more breathing room for romances (and new ROs showing up) and such.
Chapters 1-13 are done, and I’m about 50% done with Chapter 14 (not uploaded yet).
Beta testing will start in April. I’ve already recruited some Patrons and email list folks, and I’d also be grateful for forum folks who volunteer for beta testing next month.
Looking forward to it
I’ll be running Beta Testing from April 10th to April 30th. Basically if you can test and provide feedback any time in that window, it’s all good. The game will be about 125k-130k words and should take about 2.5 to 3 hours to play, depending on your reading speed, and assuming some time for note taking.
If you are willing/able to help, please just let me know. I’ll ask for feedback to be sent to me either by:
- A forum PM, or
- Email (my email is fictionbyericmoser at gmail dot com)
I try to keep the process as simple as possible. I know we’re all busy. Basically I’ll ask testers to address these 2 elements, which I view as equally important.
-
Mechanical: Are there any bugs? Do primary stats, resources, die rolls, Experience points, etc., work as they should? Did your stats page update appropriately? Are there any spacing issues or typos?
-
Narrative: What are your thoughts about the characters, the setting, dialogue, pacing, rising action, resolution, etc.? Did you find the story beats satisfying? Why or why not? Are there any changes you would suggest?
Chapter 14 is done!
The game has grown to 110,000 words. I’m starting work on Chapter 15 (climax) tomorrow. That Chapter will likely be about 20,000 words to sufficiently wrap everything up. I am very excited to write this!
I might also write a short Epilogue (maybe around 2,000 words?) to tease at a potential sequel, but the story itself will be fully self-contained with (hopefully) a satisfying climax and resolution.
Beta Testing will start on Sunday, April 10th! I have about 20 beta testers lined up, but there is always room for more! Just let me know if you want to help.
I am wrapping up the last chapter in the next few days and I’ll change the link when beta testing starts so the link in Post #1 won’t work for much longer.
It’s time to close the thread. Thanks to the folks who have helped out with feedback! Anyone who wants to beta test, just PM me.
Just a general announcement if any beta testers happen to see this: Beta testing is on schedule. I’ve gotten thorough feedback in the first wave and I’m implementing changes and improvements over the next few nights.
The game files will be updated with these improvements on April 21st so if you haven’t beta tested yet, you might want to hold off until the 22nd. Thanks!
