Tally Ho Spoilers Discussion

In Mara case sure it will involve poisoning nobles…
or family

The short version:

You are the young scandal-ridden relative of an earl who joins a silly social club, and tries to balance the obligations of family, your club, and your newly hired servant.

It’s based on Wodehouse’s Drones Club and Blandings novels, and it is going to be released in three parts: Cakes and Ale; Tea and Scones; and Port in a Storm. The series as a whole is called the “Jolly Good” trilogy.

Stephen Fry put it best when he said that the wonderful thing about Wodehouse’s stories is that regardless of whether there are antagonists and conflicting goals, “at the end of the day, everyone is kind to each other.” That’s the spirit in which Tally Ho was written, and this will be written that way too.

Did!

I would really like to have him in more of our stuff, yeah  The time zones can make scheduling a bit trickier :disappointed: but yes!

Thinking back to that, even if you were to do it as a trilogy, might it make sense to release it to testers in halves (or even slightly less) in order to get feedback in more manageable portions?

I have to think about how to do this, it’s true. As I get closer to that point, I’ll chat with the powers that be about the most efficient way to get feedback. Thanks for the suggestion!

It’s about 21k per playthrough at this point. Now that the academic year has started, I’ve slowed way down. I suspect I’m going to be plodding through chapter 3 for most of fall semester. …

Take your time , I will love read mire of your merry craziness. Sometimes reading Tally oh it reminds me the logical bizarre of Alicia mixed with Social criticism of early XX .
Still I would love a pc more selfish that bring a contrast with the privileged merry and almost childish lives.

Still I love your work so I probably ended buying your laundry list.

That’s phenomenal! And best of luck during term time!

Has anybody gotten the Monte Carlo ending with Haze? Help please :frowning:

You have to ensure that Inspector Ambrose suspects Haze as Light-Fingered Lou and offers you a sneaky deal in chapter seven. Then run off with Haze when the opportunity presents itself in chapter eight, if Haze likes you well enough.

That’s always a big if.

Hey there! So ive tried over and over but i cant seem to get an ending with frankincense OR a poly with frankincense, do you have any tips?

It’s been a while since I played Tally Ho. But I think that, in broad strokes, you have to try to make Rory and Frankincense like each other more without having them dislike you very much. I think that if you pick the choice that goes “Frankincense and I were deeply in love…” that might help.

In this playthrough, though, I think you’d also want to avoid doing a lot of stuff for the Inner Circle, since that’s gong to take quite a bit of your time.

This is by memory, so I hope this is accurate…

To get the threesome, you need to establish a serious love interest with either Rory or Frankincense (or both) before Ambrose starts talking in chapter six. You can establish it with Rory at the end of the heist at the Mudwasps in the brawl on the lawn; you can establish it with anyone when you are in the car with Figs driving to Ritornello in chapter five. There’s probably other times too.

Then you have to a) make sure the engagement is going well between the two, and b) that they both like you a lot.

For just Frankincense, you may want to talk to Frankincense during dinner in chapter five and then visit the gazebo after your adventure in chapter six. If he or she likes you enough, you can woo them solo.

Just finished my first playthrough and laughed my butt off  I have to admit I was devastated that even though I romanced the heck out of Rory, he still ended up with frankincense. (We had several kisses even and he seemed to really care for me… But he chose her…) I’m sorry if this question has already been asked, but can someone walk me through what exactly I need to do to make sure that their engagement is broken off?? I would really appreciate it and will jump into a second playthrough as soon as i nail down the strategy. (I don’t think I could handle having my heart broken a second time :broken_heart:) Thank you!

Hello everyone, i would be very grateful if someone could told me how i could get achievment called “Not Guilty”. It was some time since i played these game so maybe there are new requirments, also did anyone have suspicion bellow 20% and still get to be accused of being a thief. It is very confusing because last time i played that was one way to get that achievment and now i cannot passed it without being arrested.
P.s. I apologize for spelling mistakes but English is not my native language

@ Cosmo-is-beink-melon, it is important to try to convince Rory and Frankincense that the wedding is a bad idea, and convincing Aunt Primrose to be skeptical of it is a good idea too. The foxhunt is a key place to do that, but there are quite a few other places. But honestly, I would recommend playing it through a few more times to learn the ins and outs of what’s possible in the game–there are a lot of places to pull that lever, and even if you get your heart broken a few more times, Rory is probably worth it.

@Szymon_Struk, you get that achievement by convincing Inspector Ambrose not to arrest someone. Essentially, all of the suspects have a suspicion score. Ambrose will try to arrest the person with the highest suspicion. If you can do things in the parlor scene to make the person with the highest suspicion no longer the highest, he won’t arrest his original suspect. At least, that’s what I remember without pulling up the code.

thanks for the explanation, but it does not change the fact that even with a low level of suspicion my character is still arrested. In my previous games, Valentine was always arrested, and now even that he/she is not dismissed from a job, he/she does not appear either in the parlor scene, where the dedective reveals who is a thief and at choosing of additional crew meember during the race. And even if my character is accused of being a thief, none of the possible dialogue options allow me to refute accusations ( with these stats value Int>70,Obs>70 Per>60 and Suspicion at 18) Is it possible that other stats like Renown,Tranquility or Soothing/Abrasive affects these scene ?.
Is it possible to see the level of suspicion for other characters somewhere or is ti somewhere a guide to avoid arrest.

It actually doesn’t matter what your actual level of suspicion is; what matters is the relative level of suspicion. Even if you have a low suspicion, if the other suspects are even lower, you will be arrested.

(However, note that if Haze has the highest level of suspicion, you will be arrested, even so, not Haze, and then you get a rather different end of chapter seven–maybe that’s throwing your particular run-through off?)

The suspicion stats are hidden, and the web of influence over suspicion is pretty complex, and all over the game, I’m afraid. So there’s no simple guide I can offer. I guess you could look at the code and work out how you want to massage the suspicions.
