@Boman19,
That ain’t no woman… That’s a man, man!
I understand what I was meaning to say was, that even if we wern’t the main chareter, we could still make an ouerall impact with our choices, whitch end up changing the main plot overall.
@Nhia The “powers” are a bit bland and cliche and if there are a lot of people that have access to these powers everyone would be commonly using the same powers and that could get boring; it would be cool if you could add more and more unique powers such as moving atoms so you can walks through walls and stuff like that. But besides all that very cool story idea. P.S. you might want to read Psy High if you haven’t already, it really mixes “powers” and school together quite nicely, giving you ideas for your story.
@Boman19 Oh, no problem then!
@adamthecowdog Oh, the PC would still be the main character. It’s just that the end goal wouldn’t be saving the world. The PC will have some other kind of problem to deal with.
The choices will still matter. For example, if you choose to refuse to help save the world, one of the other characters could end up dying when they do it without you or something like that.
@ryseabove I understand that cool powers are exciting and interesting but that’s not what I’m going for here. People who are connected to the spirit inside of them and gain “powers” are ostracized. If the powers were cool or useful to you, you wouldn’t want to part with them.
In the opening scene, I didn’t state it but I tried to show how Dangar is ostracized because he’s “abnormal” to “normal” people. People call him a “freak” and run away from him. He doesn’t make eye contact or stop to chat with anyone in the hallway.
I did read Psy High and although there will be similar themes, there will also be different ones. For example, in Psy High the students with powers still look normal so you don’t know who has powers. In Spiritia, once you form a connection your eyes glow so everyone knows. You’re then taken away until you’ve become as “normal” as possible.
By the way, if I had the power to move atoms, I wouldn’t walk through walls. I would use it to create anything I want.
You do realize that if you give me power over elements it will be useful 9 times out of 10.
And personally my MC wouldn’t care about being ostracized.
He’s got powers.
Who cares if all the other filthy muggles hate him.
They’re Muggles.
To clarify, it’s only one element but you’ll get to choose it in a way. Also you don’t exactly get power over it. I can’t really explain this without spoiling too much and some parts of it are still subject to change.
It’s good that your PC doesn’t care. It sounds like he’ll be the type to resist becoming “normal.”
@Nhia Ah okay I understand now, so the “powers” will be unwanted and rare since you would have to go through the process of turning back to as “normal” as possible and people would despise you?
Also since we will not be the main hero/heroine could you give us options to romance the main hero and also let us choose their gender etc.(that might sound a bit picky sry )
Any powers I get is better than being a muggle.
And besides it doesn’t matter what power you give us as long as it isn’t super broken we can make it overpowered through sheer creativity in its usage.
Thats what makes heart the best power.
@RyseAbove Yes, people don’t like things that are different from them because they don’t understand it. The PC will be able to choose to become “normal” and be like Dangar, or to embrace their “abnormalities” and deal with the problems that come after that.
I’m still considering whether I should make the PC the one who saves the world or not. Maybe I can make it so that the PC saves the world from the shadows but someone else gets the spotlight? Or I could give the PC a problem to solve that’s worse than the end of the world. I’m not exactly sure yet.
As of right now, I haven’t decided on which character would save the world (if it’s not the PC). The one I am leaning more towards has a set gender and is not a romance option. That’s because when I write this character, another character always shows up and I kind of ship them together (is this allowed?). I already have one character that changes genders and it’s a bit difficult for me to code since I’m still new at this. I keep making so many mistakes whenever this character shows up.
@faewkless I wouldn’t exactly say they can become overpowered but they can become better. It does depend on how you use it.

Maybe all you’d have to do is to give the PC/MC his/her own objective; he/she simply happens to cross paths with the Hero somehow while pursing his/her own objective and could help, hinder or even ignore said hero.
Something along the lines of… Well, Imagine that you’re in a fantasy-like setting, where you’re the leader of a group of people who doesn’t exactly live on the right side of the law. You and your group’s aim is to break into the local Dark Lord’s castle to, if not outright empty his treasure chamber, at least walk away with a substantial amount of the treasures in it. But unfortunately for you, when you break into the castle you find out - much to your dismay - that the Hero of the Land has also choosen that very evening to storm the Dark Lord’s castle to try and take him down. So then, unless you choose to call the whole thing off, you have three obvious choices:
-
Try pulling your objective off anyway, but while helping the hero & his merry band from afar (an arrow or two from afar, a locked guard room door here and there, a trap or two undone here and there, that sort of thing)
-
Try pulling your objective off anyway, but avoid getting involved in the fight between the hero & his merry band and the Dark Lord and his minions.
-
Try pulling your objective off anyway, but while thwarting/hampering the Hero and his merry band, effectively taking the side of the Dark Lord and his minions.
Each choice would have their own potential pros and cons, but in either case, the PC/Main character’s objective wouldn’t be to save the land or taking down the Dark Lord - it’d be surviving the whole ordeal, preferably while end up filthy rich in the process…
I wouldn’t cross out the possibility if you give me one chance to find a way to exploit the rules of my powers I will exploit it so be very explicit.
E.G don’t give me the power to break rules.
I will inevitably use this to time travel, fly, turn lead into gold, and warp reality as I so please.
So be very, very careful with power designs.
How pissed my potential character would possibly be about this is directly dependent on what perks, if any, the “hero” gets for being perceived to have saved the world.
If it’s basically all the things my character would have wanted too…well that’s the kind of thing that makes villains.
How about make it possible for MC to save the world as the hero or MC just help from the sidelines. Are do you think that would be too much coding for you?
Sincerely, why all the options always has to be being good. I am so tired of “yes, you could be bad but Whatever you do, you have to save the universe because just, well everyone wants to be the hero, right? I mean rrr …Look here there is a three head monkey!”
The fresh idea of don’t have to be a hero or his sidekick is great. Maybe you could give some options of pc objectives like revenge , profit and the typical goodie goodie stuff I am so terrible thinking about it.
Also what my character can say eh these powers suck, I will learn alchemy and poison instead. Using my other powers to just chill my beverages, I love water and ice lol
I’m really looking forward to this.
The short preview you posted promises angst, which makes this especially interesting to me. We don’t have nearly enough angst in CS games.
Wait, there’s going to be angst? Sweet!
@KP_Paul @Giratina, Angst? What, like the emotion? There’s not enough anxiety and worry in cs games?
…
Well if that’s how it’s gonna be:
But in all seriousness, I mean angst in the context of the actual story, not just “ohcrapohcrap did I make the right decision is my character gonnna die aaaaagh!”
