Sionn's Children

@Vendetta i used Zephyr…

@Vendetta
I was actually thinking of using either “Ares” or “Nox” or “Umbra” next time, seen as I go black fur B-)

@Shssay
I also agree with @Raven that the weapons should be more varied to add a certain individuality to your character

I named my kitty Chips, I’m a softie like that.

i named mine scruffulupigus

called mine lucky

I called mine Sarah Jessica Parker

@Shssay yeah you choice should effect who tried to kill you, because it gives you,Shssay, the perfect opertunity to create several different story paths; it opens up the game more and really adds depth to it, like each choice on that page will bring the MC to a different place or will take the MC along the story differently, if you understand what iam saying

@Raven Thanks for pointing out that error, I probably wouldn’t have caught it otherwise. As for the weapons, I should be able to add more choices like you described. As for your choice affecting how you fight, I already have that in the game.^^ If you fight with a sword it’s different than the way you’d fight with the axe, or the morning star. The differences aren’t always huge, but they’re there.^^

@itsacow lol glad you liked that.^^

@Cloudian Yes, I follow what you’re saying, and I agree with it. I’d like to have the story branch out as much as possible, as long as I’m able to figure out how to code all of it.^^ As far as writing it out, that isn’t a problem. I just might have to remove Taran as a suspect, since I basically just threw him in as a red herring.

So I’ve got one vote for your choice affecting who tries to kill you with the assassins and one vote for not.^^ Does anybody else have an opinion on this point? Since it would require a bit of writing I’d like to see what people prefer before I start.

awesome game love the war cat idea :slight_smile:

I think it could come off as kind of silly, e.g. “I know there’s no evidence that this person sent those people, but I think it’s them, therefore space and time will rewrite themselves so that future evidence encountered will prove my blind theory true!”

I agree with 13ventrm. However, that doesn’t mean I’d like to see the story branch out into different paths somewhere along the line. I feel as a great writer, you’d 'ave no probs.

Oh, and my kitty was called Doug. I just… ain’t good with appropriate names.

@Shssay From a purely practical point of view you’d probably also be making it much harder on yourself basing it on the whim of the player. At least with a set villain in mind you’d be able to focus more on building the intrigue, mystery & suspense surrounding the dastardly plot, rather than spreading your efforts to also allow for all the other possible villains.

If you did want to make some aspect of the plot variable for replay value (entirely understandable) then consider varying who else might be involved, have knowledge of some aspect of it, or possess some clues towards discovering the identity of the real villain. That way you would not be changing the essence of the plot or the reasons behind it (i.e. the main storyline), only varying the method(s) by which the protagonist might discover the truth.

I guess it really depends how important you feel it is to the story as a whole. There’s nothing wrong with certain elements of the game always being the same on every playthru (it’s pretty much unavoidable) so you have to decide what / where the main differences will be.

I WANT THE QUEENS HEAD ON A PLATE…

OR AT LEAST LET ME IMPALE HER.

@Shssay
I agree with @Vendetta, I believe it’s best to keep central gameplay elements the same but have how the PC can approach and how they choose to approach each situation, based on their stats and previous choices made(such as the siege plan situation I talked about), be different for each playthrough style; I just think that would work better than loads of randomly generated situations.

@Player
SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!!!

@Vendetta @Ajax That’s true, I had an idea in mind for that particular sub-plot already. I’m using it more as a device for sending the player out into the world rather than making it the main focus of the game. I did plan on the PC returning to take revenge at some point, under a few different circumstances, but it would be later in the game, after they’ve been away from their home for some time. Hmmm…I guess when you put it that way it would be better to keep it the way I’ve got it and vary the ways that the character get’s revenge.

@Player That could be arranged.^^ As I said to @Vendetta and @Ajax, I had it in mind that the PC would come back and get revenge.

Whoa, I just found this, and its great! You have a pretty decent Demo, and im already sucked into the story and lore! Great work!

Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it.^^

Vendetta does have a point but when i play these cog games and they present something similar to what you did( the whole who is behind trying to kill me, frame me,ect thing) and the player makes a choice on who he/she thinks is behind it and it ends up not really affecting anything then I end up feeling like they’re worthless choices as they don’t do effect the outcome, story, or aspects of the game flow . But as the author you have final say on it and its all up to what you think is best for your game.

If it’s mostly an issue about being offered a choice that doesn’t affect the story, and it wouldn’t make a lot of sense as far as the plot is concerned to change the culprit based on player choice, it might just make more sense to remove the choice altogether. But aside from Taran, all the other suspects have the power and motive to have the player killed. Even Coll, who doesn’t really want the throne, could be motivated to do it in order to please his overbearing mother. Theoretically I could change it up depending on the choice the player makes and still have it make sense. It just depends on what people think would make a better game.^^ So I haven’t quite decided yet, but I’m thinking hard about it.

And I understand what you mean. What’s the point of having a CYOA game if the choices you make don’t matter?^^ And honestly I think the players’ input should have as much weight as my own, since I’m writing it for your enjoyment. Regardless, I’ll do my best to make sure that the vast majority of your choices actually influence the game.

I love this game
