More seriously, I’ve just realized that I had polished it as much as I believe I could without outside opinion. Initially I wanted to release it along with chapter 4, but there’s still a decent chunk of work left on that, so I’ll keep working on it a little longer.
I’ve also worked on the side on the base for the new stat system, so that’s probably my next project for Shattered after chapter 4.
In the meantime I just want to slowly go back to the Wight King, while finishing chapter 4 of Shattered. I’ve neglected TWK too long.

More seriously, I’m not sure if you’re referencing something in particular, beside the most infamous ones like Black Magic from Heroes Rise. I did see a lot of posts on subreddit from people looking for ROs that will step on them. In which case, like always, the bottoms are to blame! >:D
But yeah I’m not a fan of characters that let themselves be pushed around, both in term of MC and RO.
It’s hard to even compete with Rimworld, but that’s the difference between being the kind of omniscient, omnipotent and omnimalevolent manager(tormentor) you get to be playing rimworld and being a character within the story.
Affinities and corruption are the most important ones.
High elves are highly attuned to magic. Almost every single high elf is a sorcerer, though not all of them are uh… “military-grade”, but not being able to use magic is the abnormal for them. Millennias of a sheltered and decadent lifestyle have rendered their constitution weak however. They are generally tall but relatively frail-looking.
Dark elves are the product of an old demonic invasion, a large part of the army sent to stop them by the high elves had been corrupted through prolonged exposition to an extremely powerful archdemon and the rift to hell. The first dark elves were very different from their modern descendants, those who returned from the battle were sometimes warped beyond recognition. The high elves, in a classic high elf move, believed that their presence would pollute their people with the same corruption that affected them, and exiled the cursed ones. Their demonic ancestry had granted the dark elves with a great affinity for dark magic and removed the weakness of high elf bodies. Demonic mutations are very common among them, usually from birth, ranging from discreet to very obvious. They tend to be slightly taller than high elves and beefier.
I felt like more people knew Oberon than Titania, and didn’t want to add too many names from our world’s mythology.

Over the time I’ve been working on this, not really? Sometimes a bit of frustration, because of how many adjustments I feel I need to make, because what gets to me more is the times of stagnation. As long as I feel like I’m progressing, I feel fine. I haven’t been “stuck” like, truly mired in the blank page zone, except once, back when I was depressed. It’s the one time I had a truly awful time, and I think that really crippled me for a while. That was the existential crisis’ golden age.
It’s a bit ridiculous, but what causes me the most existential dread is the silence, I think. I am the second-guessing and wild speculation master, and when I start thinking it often goes directly to assuming the worst.
Character: Is having the worst time of her damn life, living through experiences that would leave many permanently emotionally crippled. Faced with harsh reality in one of the most brutal ways imaginable, and fearing what it is slowly turning them into.

It’s a bit of a nod to both. Though I mostly wanted to use the word, not necessarily the concepts that are attached to it in our world.
The word is inherited from the southern roots of Aquilea, and it is meant to embody a being that is both close to its followers, in the sense that it is the source of all they do, and all around them, and utterly unknowable in its magnitude, power and will, the every essence of creation itself. Which is what they believe IT is. Or used to.
It’s funny that the platonic to gnostic perception of Demiurge embodies the fall of Aquilea itself a little.

I don’t necessarily endorse every choice I allow you to make, given the freedom to choose, you’ve chosen this path, the burden of choice and the consequences of your actions belong only to you. I’ve dealt you the cards, but you’ve chosen the one to play.
That probably sounds more pretentious than I intended, but I think the share of responsibility on that particular choice is heavily tipped the player’s way.
It’s a big question. There are no strictly cut pantheon in this world, mostly people associating somewhat related gods together, or drawing from ancient history and making such conclusions that they belong together.
The kind of gods worshiped, and how many, depends a lot on where you are. There, far in the eastern forests of the Aquilean empire, pagan worship is still going relatively strong. Generally people will be into several gods, or none at all, except for clerics of a particular deity.
Valkya is a bit special, she’s part of a particular group of gods that incarnate identity, sexuality and love. Each being a sort of “patron” god to the people they represent. She’s the goddess that represents those who identify as women. She and her kindred are some of the oldest human gods, and are as mysterious as they are ubiquitous. They are worshiped almost everywhere there are humans, and any believer will tend to include them among the gods they pray to.
I’m still doing work on this part of the lore, there are a lot of gods in this world, not a lot of them are really fleshed out enough to talk about yet. But if you have questions on the mechanics of deities, that’s easier for me to answer.

Demons are really dangerous. They know what they’re doing. That was the 100% power of these particular demons, the imp’s charge wouldn’t have been possible if the others didn’t hold the templars still while he was powering up.
Even weak demons are usually still significantly stronger than mortals. So when they work together like this, it’s really hard to deal with. Don’t mess with Hell!

In terms of transformations I’d prefer Griffith. Though does that mean I get a half blind one armed swordsman screaming my name a lot? Because that could interrupt my beauty sleep.
Also I’m guessing demon sacrifices are a thing. What counts as mine? Like if I beat someone up could I sacrifice them? Or if I was the leader of a group would they count? Can people mind control others into agreeing?

Soul sacrifice is ritualistic so you would either need someone who consents, or someone you’ve coerced into giving to the community one way or another. You can’t just grab someone off the street and eat their soul, unless that’s specifically your ability I guess.
The ritual keeps the soul from drifting when you extract it, and from then on you can do whatever you intended with it, whether it was to absorb it yourself or to bargain with it with an entity interested.
The worth of the soul matters more than the quantity. And that worth can vary a lot depending on your sacrifice, and who you’re talking to. In general, the more powerful the person, the stronger the soul, the soul of a random peasant comes nowhere close to the soul of a demon or a powerful warrior.

Alchemy the science of understanding, deconstructing and reconstructing matter. However it is not an all powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If someone wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be given. This is the law of equivalent exchange, the basis of all alchemy. However in accordance with this there is a taboo among alchemist. Human transmutation is strictly forbidden. For what could equal the value of a human soul?
I still have to read like a hundred chapters. Not too sure how I feel about the whole Femto thing since so far only the one duke didn’t lose all human value after turning into a demon. Then again Griffith was jerk beforehand… on the other hand from spoilers I’ve seen Griffith cries whenever he’s human for a bit.
Then again if God says you’re good to do whatever…
