Seven days in purgatory (2020 Sept 5th, Chapters 3/7) (ko-fi open: Jan 6)

Just me trying to be cute in response to some of A's lines.

“Alright, how about a bet then? We both hide around the house on opposite sides, after 30 seconds we track each other down. Back of the neck, first one to sneak in a bite gets to be on top next time.”

Good golly, our spouse was lascivious!

“I couldn’t let her. So I squeezed and twisted till I broke his spine and he died in my hands.”

So, I’m gonna need our spouse to stooooop…?

I won’t lie, I’m sure I lost some of the creep factor by having the code open in one tab, and after having gone through the majority of this thread.

But I still got the chills. A makes for a mostly comforting and lovely spouse. They just seem… different. In that chilling way.

You know that feeling when you’re playing a video game or watching a movie? When you leave a room, then return to it and you’re almost certain something is missing? Something that you didn’t interact with? Something that shouldn’t be missing? That’s the kind of feeling I get from A…

Yet, despite my better judgement, I am still insanely charmed by them. Good job writing them as such a charismatic, magnetic personality!

Ok, so my mind went two places. That last line from Nico is either a cannibalism jab, or an oral sex jab. Either way, cheeky sucker!

Now then, this isn’t so much a theory toward what the heck is going on in this “marriage” but, more to do with how MC and A know each other. It’s something @Riful also speculated in their timeline post. It sounds like A and MC are step siblings?

Another reason I consider this, outside of the timeline’s making the idea credible is their last names… no matter what your gender or sex, the last names are in the same order. Abernathy-[Surname]. It may just be my experience, but usually the bride applies the groom’s surname after hers. I played a female with a husband. So that niggled at me. So I thought, maybe their names were different before the two of them “got married”? But that’s really nit-picky on my end, so I don’t feel it holds up…

I remember the chills I felt playing this game for the first time, and I know I would have gotten then just as bad this time around if I hadn’t had the code up. Because I still got chills. They were just a little more subdued. The MC’s mind is fascinating to me, the parts we don’t get to shape. I’m enjoying this.

However, I’m not good with stories that get dark and stay dark… I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to enjoy this once the cracks become more prominent. But, I’m enjoying it now.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it and that you find A alluring! There are a lot of details that are hints to something, but the surname thing is just my laziness, sorry xD

I really suggest playing the game without the code up the first time, since for now it doesn’t have any stats you need to consider like other stat heavy games.

I hope you stay with the journey for long! There are currently around five outcomes, and mc can decide whether or not they’re happy with each. Well… unless they get the one outcome in which they die.

I’ve always assumed that Mr. Abernathy (A’s father?) began fostering MC in 1995.

I absolutely adore this story. The creepy vibe I get from reading it is just ughhh words can’t explain it. I’m also a really big fan of the ‘slow’ build up; getting to know our husband and MC makes this story so realistic. I’m looking forward to see what’s next :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The game is very nice. I liked the way you write.

I think I played something similar a while back? However this game was much more in-depth and I really liked the dialogue. Text-book example of a fun but short game. Every new day brought something new that made it complicated but fun at the same time. Also loved that you could go against the rules to help people that spoke in gold text.

Literally just finished the demo, and I love it already! Awesome!

Yeah, me too! Loved it very much. But is it normal that it ends in the bathroom in the MCs dream? I feel like maybe my browser is stuck😅 and i can’t fix it.

no the creator didnt make anything past that yet

I just discovered this WIP and I really need to tell you how much I love this! I love the intellegent writing and the witty banter between the spouse and the MC (I absolutely love the spouse even though he seems shady). The story gave me both a wholesome vibe and an unnerving one. Also makes you want to think, there’s soo many theories you can make just from the 3 chaptersXD

The overall feeling I got made me the same atmosphere I got from the Album:
The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time

Like dementia and the feeling of losing a past version of yourself

I dont want to call you out but it sounds like youre making a text adventure version of one of my favorite non choices game. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buffstudio.sevendays_free&hl=en_US&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3D7+days+google+play&pcampaignid=APPU_1_FrY3XrfzD4SmtQaJ05SYBA

So i have to ask

Are any of the characters

  1. A hitman/hitwoman
  2. A mentor of a hitman/hitwoman
  3. The protagonists darker instincts
  4. The nerdy best friend of a hitman/hitwoman
  5. A doctor/monk/ helper person?

Ma’am I-

I don’t see how they’re similar, maybe I’m just dumb.

Apart from the title I would assume? :upside_down_face:

You play an amnesiac in purgatory spending 7 days trying to figure out your identity with other amnesiacs… You also discover your history with the other amnesiacs as you investigate.

I’m pretty sure the title is a play on words the mc isn’t actually in purgatory from the looks of it and the only one to have amnesia is the mc

I think what people are saying is that amnesia is an extremely common story element and that distinct stories can have similarities without the authors ever knowing each others’ books exist. I’ve at least a dozen stories and games that involve a handful of amnesiacs confined to small space and forced to interact in order to regain their memories. This CoG is more of an abduction scenario.

Or that too

Still no where near similar beside the title
