Saving progress when navigating away

There’s this problem I’ve been having eith a game, whose creator decided to put it in dashingdon.

In the html file/link, if I press “make your own games on choicescript!” the whole game resets back to the beginning, that means no checkpoins for me to start on, the same thing happens if I refresh the page.

Is there a way to avoid this issue beyond hoping that you won’t unintentionally click the link or refreshing the page? The author of the game doesn’t knows what to do about it.

This is separate to Dashingdon, and can be fixed by including an *ifid command when compiling the game - there’s info about that here.

With an *ifid command is in startup, the game will keep progress even if the tab is closed or navigated away from.

I’ve edited the title of the topic to describe it more accurately so people can find it if they need to in future (personally, I’ve forgotten it a couple of times!).

Checked out. Added the ifid command at the beginning of the startup file. Hopefully that will fix it going forward.

Thanks HarrisPS and Ultra_In_Something for shepherding me through something new.
