I said whom and the author or editor should be able to find. Always have problems doing that. All I can say is where and did. The master says boy. Lt Link says Sir.

I would have to copy paste text otherwise.

Master now says girl. Must of been fixed since last mentioned it. Will see if the other is now fixed then.

Yes, and you doing such simple copy and paste right as you experience it is much faster and easier to work with than for the author to track down possible place in their entire game, when all they have to work with is a vague description.

Heck, it’d have taken you less effort and time to do that copy&paste in the first place than it took to make the first post about it and then another how it’s effort for you and people should be doing it instead.

Copy paste isn’t that easy either. I did not say where in first post, sure. 2nd post was detailed on who said it. Please get off my back now.

Practically speaking, you can’t fix an issue if you don’t even know what it is. Copy/Paste, screenshot, whatever, you need something

Was it fixed after starting a new game ?
You randomly roll AGAB (as much as that can apply to a metallic wonder like the Veteran) at the start which has effect on the flashbacks.

That’s what I was thinking was going on. Can’t ā€œsave scumā€ in the final published work, but depending on which page the roll happens on, it might be possible to reroll it from the stat screen. (Unless that’s been patched on the backend of CS code processing, though the ā€˜nature of the beast’ here leaves me dubious it’s an easy fix without a more comprehensive rewrite.)

Yes you can if you’re playing on desktop. Just back up the save file from the steam folder, proceed, and if you don’t like the roll delete that save and paste the save you backed up.

It’s actually easier than that. The ā€œrollā€ happens on the third page of the game, and the player is informed whether their original sex matches the current one, so you can just click ā€œrestartā€ and almost instantly reach this page again. It takes about as many clicks as making and loading a dashingdon save and fewer than messing with the Steam saves.

In early versions of the game, it was possible to ā€œrerollā€ from the stat screen, but I was afraid people would do that on accident and get confused, so I removed that possibility. On the other hand, letting the player simply choose the Veteran’s original gender would defeat the whole point I was trying to make in the first flashback. I decided to compromise by making ā€œrerollsā€ fairly quick and easy without making them immediately obvious.

iirc there’s 2 other rolls(one for the initial heist’s success’ and one for the final spaceship confrontation with Crystal when they’re running away and you need to take that difficult shot(not sure about the second one 100%)) so I guess the save method is more useful there.

Completely random question, but what is the Veteran’s policy on receiving headpats ?

@TheSneakyKiwi There’s another roll if you have Damon and Hadaly play rock-paper-scissors, (though save scumming that one is pretty pointless) and another one to see if Lisa kills Da-xia should you refuse to advise her. I’m also adding two new ones in the next update, since it includes a section where certain characters spin a bottle for fun.

@Abba That sounds like something I’d leave up to the player, it’s just that headpats didn’t come up anywhere yet. Maybe I’ll find a room for them in the final release.

Epic if it does end up happening.

I did check all the saves. They all refer to feminine in every state.

The saves are set at different points. The Sir happened first time thru as it did each other time. So did boy at the time, anyway. Unlike Link, everyone else was using either Its (the birdie) or feminine pronouns.

The one swap of network happened after gone through that a couple times with the Sir staying the same. (Wasn’t my first through either.) I always choose feminine each time and consistently.

Granted after finding ā€˜girl’ worked. I have not pushed further yet. I will eventually with restart to be sure its fresh. They were what I said in one passing in past without reload/refresh.

Once I get time will go through again with refresh to Links lines. The boy was a fresh start so was Sir when I posted the first time. The sir staid the same with net refresh. I can’t comment on it being fixed yet. Just detailing what happened.

aximum volume. It’s a piercing shriek full of emotion, almost human but… not.

ā€œBy Saturn!ā€ your master exclaims whilst turning the speakers down. ā€œFirst a crude joke, and now a jumpscare? The Lunar stations aren’t even trying anymore, am I right boy?ā€

Nope, it did it again. Fresh save yet again. Last time it was girl. If it is random, then only did it once ignoring Feminine choice. Took 5 minutes just to try and copy paste this little bit. This phone sucks.

This line still says it:

Sir, I must request you to put your hands up and submit to a routine scan," he says calmly, even as he seems ready to attack. "Otherwise, I may have to assume you a rogue androi

Copy paste really sucks trying to do. Nope Link is not fixed. I assuming the Master bit is random but tends to be boy all but once. Link insists on Sir. I don’t change feminine at all. No need with multiple variables versus time allocated before running out of variables.

Okay, I see the line you’re talking about now. It’s not in front of a name like you claimed orginally, which made it a little hard to locate.

Anyway, all instances you listed happen during flashbacks, which ā€œignoreā€ your choice of gender because they happened centuries before that choice was made. As we discussed a few posts ago, the Veteran’s original gender is ā€œrolledā€ three pages into the game and can be manipulated pretty easily. I doubt I’ll change anything there, but I guess I’ll think about making this mechanic extra-clear so that it cannot possibly be missed.

The one with Link is in a flashback. Using my name when getting my attention.

The master should use ā€˜kid’.

Link saying Ser erases the need to worry about things. But I registered feminine with my name and Link used my feminine name at that moment. If Link wasn’t using my chosen name I would of ignored it

Edit: He uses MCs chosen name right upon entering the scene.

ā€˜Kid’ is not equivalent to ā€˜boy’ or ā€˜girl’ in that situation. The former is used almost exclusively as an indicator of young age, usually childhood, whereas boy/girl often functions as a soft insult towards someone you don’t really respect. It’s how a spoiled human might call their slave, and slaves were often called in real life.

But I guess I can change ā€œSirā€ to ā€œSerā€ if you insist. It might make marginally more sense, I just never gave it much thought.

I can ignore Master. It seems to randomize. But kid can also go same route in English American as boy and girl does. Its happened several times. Especially with extra words added though. So, best stick with whats there then.

Ser does neutralize and ignores every aspect of details. Its a huge difference.

Oh nooo! I reached the current end… :frowning: (Can’t wait for more.)
My feedback:

Chapter 8 and 9 and 10

I played the end of chapter 8 and the beginning of chapter 9 multiple times. I’m still not happy with any outcome.
→ ā€œā€œI have no interest in revealing our cooperation, and it’s not likeā€
The end of the sentence is missing.
→ There is a lot of Krill in these chapters.
→ ā€œā€œHave I caused them trouble? damon is the one who inflicted the worst wound.ā€ā€ And ā€œAt least damon is safe. That’s all that matters to me.ā€
Capital D
→ ā€œSo are you going to keep helping me? Will you snipe Crystal down or something?ā€
During the whole scene, my MC tried to let Crystal live while fake attacking. It makes no sense that he would ask Sauce to kill Crystal.
→ It’s weird that Damons (romance) shows no affection on the ship after the MC gets rescued by Sauce. Is he not happy that his loved one is alive?
→ ā€œTell us what you’ve been doing recently!ā€ā€
I would love the Option to tell the truth. ā€œHaving sex with your brother.ā€
→ ā€œ"I want the android which I created, and which I love despite her… Recent displays of ingratitude.ā€ And ā€œ"What can we do? We give him exactly what he wants.ā€ And ā€œ"My deepest apologies. Please forgive this… mistimed software update. Such things are inevitable when you repurpose equipment, like all frugal people do.ā€
ā€œ missing at the end.
→ ā€œBesides… you may need that upper-body strength very soon.ā€
This sentence is just used too much.
→ ā€œā€œWhatever happens, know that I’m with you. And that I enjoyed being your friend.ā€ā€
Boyfriend?
→ ā€œā€œWe were are actually wondering about that,ā€ā€
ā€œwereā€ or ā€œareā€
→ I’m not sure the game realized that I wanted to spare Crystal. That it was my decision to risk the deal with the federation to protect the universe from Dusk.
→ I would have liked to make a confession about this to Sheila before she made my MC the new leader.

Chapter 11

→ A whale would be full of ā€œKrillā€ by now.
→ ā€œWatch the fight without interfering.ā€
I would prefer ā€œWatch the fight and prepare to defend Lisa.ā€
→ Does Kirill have no layout from the power plant? Are there no fire escape plans hanging? I think it is no mystery where the center of the plant is.
→ ā€žAttack. Beat her to death.ā€œ
I can attack and beat her to death, but I can’t attack and just break her arm?
→ My goal now would be to steal the book, because I do not trust the federation enough.

I played the end of chapter 8 and the beginning of chapter 9 multiple times. I’m still not happy with any outcome.

That’s by design. While there is a hyper-specific way to have your cake and eat it, I wanted to ensure that first-time players face an actual dilemma at that point in the story. The chapter isn’t called ā€œJanusā€ for no reason.

I’m not sure the game realized that I wanted to spare Crystal. That it was my decision to risk the deal with the federation to protect the universe from Dusk.

I believe it didn’t. The story does have lines for outcomes where Crystal was spared intentionally, but I think you did it so subtly even the game didn’t realize what was up. I’ll tweak the conditionals eventually.

→ ā€œā€œWhatever happens, know that I’m with you. And that I enjoyed being your friend.ā€ā€
Boyfriend?

That line was addressed to both Damon and Hadaly, so ā€œfriendā€ fits even if the player romanced one of them. The real problem is that there isn’t much damon-specific romance dialogue, which—as I mentioned earlier—I’m currently working on.

Does Kirill have no layout from the power plant? Are there no fire escape plans hanging? I think it is no mystery where the center of the plant is.

I didn’t mean to imply that ā€œthe centerā€ was particularly important. As far as the team is concerned, Da-xia could be in any random room, as long as its connected to the power grid somehow. They don’t even know she’s in the same room as the artifact, just kind of assume so. I did not address whether Kirill has building plans because it doesn’t terribly matter.

Also… knowing the Conglomerate, fire escape plans just instruct workers to soak themselves with water and run at the fire to put it out, so there’s that.

My goal now would be to steal the book, because I do not trust the federation enough.

That’s an interesting idea, but the only ending where the book doesn’t explode requires some fairly specific conditions to be met. Originally, I was not even going to include it, I just thought the player might feel cheated without it. I doubt I’ll add more branches to it, since it would mean lots of extra work for little actual gain.
