Class is in session for our favorite ronin! What happens when you toss a gritty, scarred, and downright scary swordmaster into a school full of magical nerds? What good is your sword technique when you’ve got mountains of homework and love confessions to deal with?
All that and more await you in the sixth(!) installment of the Samurai of Hyuga series. This one really was a blast to write and I think a lot of fans are going to enjoy the sort of genre-shift featured in this one. I love the “fish out of water” narrative trope (it’s my favorite by a mile) and I hope you’ll enjoy it, too.
First: This story is a sequel of a sequel of a sequel of a sequel of a sequel. I know it’s obvious, but there are tons of spoilers for the series in this demo. Just keep that in mind if you’re unfamiliar with the series—this isn’t the best spot to dive in on.
Second: I know the “recap” sections on these books are getting ridiculously long. In the full version, there will be an “abridged recap” option for imported characters which helps speed this up. There’s no way around it for premade characters, though.
Oh, and as far as the full book release is concerned: it’s coming out next month, in May! (I’ll update this when I know the exact date.)
Somehow I missed book 5 (oops) but I’ve started this demo and the premise is absolutely delightful. I think I’ll enjoy this one a lot!
Masami has always been my favorite character, so the Ronin trying to LARP as her and imitate her mannerisms? And even having to learn take manners? Incredible. It’s the closest thing to being able to actually play her as a character, which I probably would enjoy even more than playing a Ronin. The backstory for her has been interesting too — I was surprised to learn her father was a samurai rather than a member of the kuge court nobility (or equivalent for Hyuga).
Eager to see how the rest of the demo goes but as I said, delighted thus far.
Hmm, are you getting some sort of error? I have tried it on my end and copy/pasting the full version of the script into the dev console activated the save functionality for me.
I had to manually tweak one of the script lines at the start, and put fixed name for the game ID, instead of the script trying to guess it. Something like this:
