I want to make close friendships and queerplatonic relationships feel as solid and important as romances, so I would like to present that as a possibility for the MC. So yes I hope so!
@Murdockchan there isn’t a detailed summary but there some some notes under the Setting summary on the first post of this thread. If I get the chance I’ll try and put up some more reference info sometime soon!
Travel by plane in this period is mostly a status thing… I’m part of the top 1% and I can do this while the rest of you can’t…
Personally I hope @HarrisPS allows my daring adrenaline junkie MC take the plane for more jaunts… maybe take your chosen RO to a mountain meadow picnic … I am disappointed I was not flying the plane to begin with… but I figure the Queen was watching us take off, so I had to lay low on take off.
The only thing I know so far the Kingdom of Zaledo is a desert Kingdom of sort, Westerlin could be somewhat like the French Republic or German Empire in the 20th century
But speaking of Zaledo being in a desert, are there any desert horses or camels?
I do apologise, since I’m kind of obsessed with horses and animals.
I’m also trying to figure out how the Crème!MC’s personality template that we select at the beginning matches up with the stats from the last game. Here is what I’ve been assuming, correct me if I’m wrong.
Scheming and sharp: High manipulation, high wit, and/or high intrigue?
Bold and no-nonsense: High domineering, high spirit?
Flighty and charming: High flair?
Graceful and calm: High poise?
Earnest and helpful: High accomodation?
I vaguely remember Zaledo described as being south of Westerlin, so I pictured Morocco or at least somewhere in the Maghreb. Lots of Spanish influence as well, perhaps.
I always pictured Zaledo as a Persian type of kingdom inserted into Italy’s position in Europe and Westerlin more of an Austrian Empire type (the Austrian part) with the Alps separating the two.
The farm picnic scene in this demo, for example and the avoiding the mountain to get to the school are specific examples reinforcing my mind’s creation.
Persian, eh? The only place I was able to imagine Zaledo is loosely based on one of the many desert kingdoms located on the Silk Road of the ancient civilisations. As for Westerlin, I can only imagine it being based on the second French Empire or the French Republic after the second empire.
Zaledo reminds me more of the Spanish and westerlin would be British. The time period that the story takes place is perfect for the hostilities of the two nations.
Agreed on the Persian thing for Zaledo, I still think Westerlin is more of a German type of empire, it has that same feeling of danger and possible dread to it, being a global lynchpin, like Germany.
Maybe the Austrian equivalent is a southern buffer state that is culturally closer to Westerlin and may be a de-facto client state of it.
The names “Rosario,” “Gonzalez”, and “Javi” do give off a definitively Spanish vibe. I’m not sure I think of Zaledo and Westerlin being geographically the same to Spain and England — however, basing just off their citizens’ names, I can see how I immediately drew parallels.
Westerlin makes me feel like it’s Northern France, peeking into Belguim, where German and Netherlands influences are clearly present. But overall I do think Northern France and Belguim.
With Zaledo, I pretty much went with Iran/Persian train.
I see a lot of people are arriving at Iran. I admit my mental image was already made up when I saw the names “Gonzalez” and “Rosario”. I guess I need to read scene descriptions more carefully.
