Haha! No, they’re busy with other things
Oh yeah, speaking of which that remind me of something…
But in some choices we get to pick? I noticed, we didn’t have kinda…a neutral ‘Not interested’. Its either…Love it…or Boo I’ don’t like you kind of thing.
Like with the dancer, and then Trevelyan debating me…so I either have to force a smile and pretend she isn’t melting my brain…or be an ass. I’m a Priiiiiiiiiincess, gotta check my manner.
The stats really do add a lot to the whole experience like honestly without them I would be completely lost about the impact of the MC’s decisions on said characters, like a walkthrough and a record that allows you to have some control over the development of the relationships you are carving.
Realy cannot vouch for the personal stats enough, the game is far more vague without them truly!
That’s interesting, I’ll have a look where I can put those in. I try to sprinkle through “politely detached” options but it isn’t always something that comes to mind when I’m writing. You’re right that some characters won’t want to make a statement either way!
That’s brilliant to hear. I’ll definitely be examining how to make the most of them so they feel more intuitive and can be more impactful.
The fresher exemple is the dancer? even the choice of ‘I have no interest in Ballet’ came off…like ‘Negative’. Peoples of noble or royale heritage, had a way of saying something without crossing the positive and negative line.
And if anyone can do it, it be you!
Hm, as it currently stands, gaining a high score for the school inspection seems impossible, even though Beatrice did everything right as the leader of the student council and passed each instance with flying colors.
Well, Beatrice was privately tentative, perhaps even leaning towards progressive, about voting, but with the riots and a foreign king throwing about his weight regarding the country’s internal affairs, Beatrice’s surprisingly ruthless streak has been provoked again. Now, her position is very much against the voting reform, at least in the present. Authority, especially that of the crown, must be reasserted. If voting reform does come to pass, it will have to be in the future, upon the terms of the crown and government, not because they were forced to bow to pressure from some rabble and a presumptuous foreign monarch daring to dictate how another royal family conducts its affairs.
Ooh, I’ll check that out - thank you.
Beatrice sounds like a very determined royal!
I…need bug repellent? Or…something to poke? A cane? Hmm, at least something to repel both the nerd and the dancer away!
Put on a dramatic pause What horror is thine game, for every time my eyes follow Beaumont or asher, villainous characters jump from the shadow and interrupt us! O what folly are thou writing for mine hero? What interruption thine devil mind is concocting, when all I ever wished for was a sweet forbidden kiss from my modest bodyguard and to know the bank name of Beaumont!
…and curtain! that’s how you do a play Javi!
…Tsk…I could have done better
I think it’s Beaumont Financiers, there you go.
that was a metaphore of being a gold digger who is after her wealth!
Does speaking authoritatively decrease people’s opinions of you?
Im trying to role-play a Princess Margaret type character, so I’m planning on focusing on Authoritative and Entertaining, but I’m just curious if people will have a negative or neutral to a commanding (but incredibly glamorous!) MC.
No, characters will often like and respect a commanding protagonist!
because there aren’t enough teacher who bark at them…
I liked the previous school better, we had this group Outing in the mine…
Fond memories lol
Might be a bit of a coding error in Chapter 1. Think the second variable is pointing to the wrong person.
For ${javi_his} part, Javi seems to be enjoying Dominique fawning over ${dominique_him}. “May I pour your juice, Your Highness?” Dominique says, with a formal tone that ${dominique_he}@{dominique_singular 's|'ve} never used toward you, and Javi flicks ${javi_his} fingers extravagantly towards ${javi_his} glass.
Thanks for spotting that. It’ll be fixed in the next update!
I’m venturing through the later sections of the final chapter and it’s all feeling quite dramatic. I went past 310,000 words today!
Wow…
Now replace that ‘words’ with ‘stairs’
Who asked for an elevator?
There have been times when it’s felt like the words were stairs! Feeling good about it now though
Any changes (reworking/s) for the stat system that you can tease us with Hannah?
At the moment I am writing a bunch of branching moments which change some of the characters’ plans and actions based on their stats (eg Asher bold/diffident etc).
Some specific things I’m planning around stats between finishing the first draft and before the big beta test:
- powering up Entertaining and Underhanded because at the moment they’re not used nearly as much as the others and I want all the stats to be useful
- going through all the points where NPC stats change and making sure they make sense
- making sure friendly/romance conversations are fun whether or not you fail a stat check, and reducing how many checks are in casual conversations, so that in more relaxed chats you can feel… well, more relaxed!
- adding more information to the stats page to give a clearer picture of difficulty and what the various stats mean
I’ve got a lot more planned - I have a 1400 word document of bullet points to consider when doing my next pass - but those are some of the headlines!
